Chapter 348

Chapter 338: Avengers: Heroes Assemble (2)

Information from the Avengers was received by High-Level Agents in various locations, who immediately set out to find their designated targets.

They were like precision screws in a vast machine, silently providing essential support to the larger group. Each screw seemed insignificant but was indispensable.

At Stark Tower, Tony wore a contemptuous look. "What, the Superboy Project? Agent Coulson, you still haven't given up on that ridiculous thing? If you let me be the leader, I might reluctantly agree."

At a certain S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Captain America had a serious expression. "If you need me, I will contribute my strength."

In Queens, a baffled Peter Parker said, "Avengers? What's that? Do I have a grudge against someone? No, wait, why are you looking for me? I'm just a regular student..."

In Gotham City, a gradually maturing Wayne said, "You've got the wrong person. I'm not Batman, but I'd be very willing to offer you an interest-free loan."

Many super-powered individuals and tech moguls accepted the invitation, arriving at a brand-new Helicarrier with various thoughts on their minds.

It was a massive vessel, even larger than the one Tony had blown up. Its design was more advanced and logical, and it had also been upgraded with a large number of weapons, including Energy Weapons developed from the Tesseract.

Tony Stark, wearing his Armor, flew directly to the Helicarrier moored on the sea's surface, landing with a thud.

Standing around were a few other people—his not-so-trustworthy teammates.

"Hey, you're Captain America? My old man mentioned you, said you were ridiculously serious. How does it feel to sleep for seventy years? A serious old man—oh, and that getup..."

"...And the Asgardian, you're pretty strong, actually managed to crush my Armor. Let's have another go next time we get a chance—but did you report to Kamar-Taj when you came to Earth?"

Tony's skills were superb; he managed to offend everyone right off the bat. At the very least, they were all giving him unfriendly looks.

Especially Thor, who looked displeased. "After this is over, I'll pay a visit to Kamar-Taj. But I don't think Tony would get angry over such a small matter. We're friends."

"'Friends' you met in battle?" The Iron Suit slowly opened, revealing Tony in an out-of-place business suit. He raised an eyebrow, unscrupulously sizing up this group of teammates.

He just hoped they weren't useless teammates; otherwise, he'd be better off working alone.

Although Tony wanted him to lead the Avengers independently, if this bunch of so-called teammates couldn't satisfy Tony, this arrogant guy would definitely just turn around and walk away.

"Sometimes I really don't get it. Why would you call someone you barely know a friend? I fought with you too. Do you think you're my friend? Or am I yours?" Tony said, his hands in his pants pockets.

Thor gripped Mjolnir, his Cape fluttering in the wind. His expression shifted subtly, looking very displeased.

At that moment, Steve, the team's conscience, stepped forward and said very seriously, "People who fight side-by-side can all be friends. I hope we can get along."

Tony just grunted noncommittally in response. He looked around and suddenly asked, "Didn't the files say there was a child laborer on the team? Where's the kid, that Spider-Man..."

"That kid is too young, and he turned us down. Besides, even if he had agreed, he would have been a backup at most." Agent Coulson walked over, wearing his signature gentle smile, but it looked heavy no matter how you saw it.

His burden was heavy, involving a War between Worlds. If not handled properly, the consequences would be devastating.

Led by Agent Coulson, the group quickly entered the Helicarrier before it took off.

"To be honest, I had originally considered recruiting the Hulk, but unfortunately, he was targeted by *that one* and ended up dead," Agent Coulson said with a smile as he walked.

However, the few people present were clearly uninterested in this news, each preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Thor was thinking about how to bring that guy Loki back to Asgard without hurting him, and also to find out where he had gone during the time he was missing.

Tony was testing the personalities of the others in his own way. Everyone, including Natasha and the other Agents, got a taste of his sharp tongue as he silently graded them in his mind. They were a team that would be risking their lives together. No one wanted a bunch of useless slackers dropping the ball behind them while they were fighting for their lives on the front lines.

Only Captain America was genuinely dedicated to the people, without so many messy thoughts. Despite sleeping for seventy years and being dug out of a glacier only recently, the goodness in his heart had not been extinguished.

"A world-class war... have you found any backup? Getting Tony would be more appropriate; his specialty is fighting Aliens," Tony suggested.

Agent Coulson's expression didn't change. "I've already sent people to tony's Manor. They've promised to join the battle when the time comes."

"Then I'm relieved... Compared to you guys, Tony is much more reassuring." Tony rubbed his chin and stomped on the floor. "This Helicarrier of yours, I'm the one who designed the blueprints and weapons for it... Sometimes I really worry about your capabilities."

"That's why I gathered you all here." Agent Coulson maintained his smile, even though he felt like hitting someone.

...

Loki was in a very, very pleasant mood.

"Such a beautiful planet. A pity it doesn't belong to me." Loki lamented slightly, raising his scepter, like a Creator looking down upon his work of art.

He used the power of his scepter to control a large number of warriors to serve him, launching a ferocious assault on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newest Helicarrier, brimming with killing intent.

Although he was hindered by a group of people, it didn't cause him any trouble.

Loki was very clever. He understood his own role, and he understood even more clearly how Thanos viewed him. It could all be summed up in two words: Cannon Fodder.

Whether it was the Chitauri or Loki himself, they were all just Chess Pieces that Thanos had casually thrown at Earth. And the fact that Thanos had given him the Mind Stone held an even more intriguing, deeper meaning.

Although Loki despised this feeling of being controlled by others—it made him feel as if he were back under Thor's shadow, forced to yield to brute force and reality despite his superior intellect.

Alright, not only did Loki not mind being used as a pawn, he was actually quite enthusiastic about this whole affair.

This place, Earth, was special. It had been special for a very long time, always giving birth to miraculous life. This was also the reason why the major pantheons had stationed themselves on Earth in the past.

They all wanted to uncover the secrets of life on Earth, but unfortunately, they have yet to discover them to this day.
