Chapter 366: Stripping Off the Symbiote Suit
On the streets of Gotham City, a large group of police officers, led by Robin, were struggling frantically against a dark-clad individual.
"Whoa! You damn police, you must be from the Dark Multiverse, right? Even that Barbatos guy is cuter than you!"
Deadpool was brandishing two swords. His incredible speed allowed him to display masterful swordsmanship. The two Carbonadium blades moved at such a high frequency that they became a blur of countless dazzling afterimages, slicing a massive number of bullets on the spot.
This unprecedented hand speed stunned the police officers present. Everyone wore expressions of astonishment and disbelief.
Don't get me wrong, they weren't shocked by the fast blades. As Gotham City's police, they were familiar with all sorts of strange lunatics and their related cases.
They were shocked that Deadpool was apparently doing this for no good reason. No matter how cool it looked to slice every bullet in half, he was still getting riddled with wounds. The bullet fragments simply hit him from a slightly different angle.
It was even worse than not slicing them, resulting in more wounds.
"You start shooting at the slightest disagreement! Am I that hateful? I already told you I'm not that idiot Deathstroke! Did you get the wrong guy just because I changed my outfit?" Deadpool looked down at the bullet holes in his chest and let out an exaggerated scream.
His grating, off-key voice, like a squawking duck, was even more infuriating.
There was nothing more infuriating than someone who could take so many bullets, jump around energetically, and spout random provocations.
"You shut your mouth! In just a few days, you've already killed eleven people in Gotham City and cut off their heads! As a Gotham police officer, I will not allow a cruel bastard like you to remain at large!"
Robin's face was ashen. As Gotham City's newly promoted righteous police officer, he had naturally taken up Harvey's banner, viewing Two-Face Harvey as his idol—Harvey's corruption had been covered up by the authorities. In the public's perception, Harvey was still that righteous and glorious Knight of Justice.
Even though Harvey was dead, he was still mourned by a group of people. The young officer, Robin, was one of Harvey's most loyal fans.
Deadpool tilted his head, seemingly stunned. While he was thinking, the bullet holes in his chest healed rapidly, and the bullet fragments lodged in his body were expelled.
Because of his mask, people couldn't see his facial expression. They could only remain on high alert, a bitter taste in their mouths. They couldn't beat him, and they couldn't kill him. What were they supposed to do?
"Since when did the Gotham City Police enforce the law so impartially? I'm just a mercenary, I work for money... Besides, you opened fire the moment you saw me. Are you sure you're not police from the Dark Multiverse? Only the cops there are this crazy, more brutal than the criminals!"
Deadpool rambled on with his incomprehensible nonsense, agitating everyone.
At least, to Robin's ears, it was all nonsense. Dark Multiverse? What a joke. The rumors said Deadpool was a lunatic, and seeing him today, it was clearly true.
*Bang!* Robin shot Deadpool in the head again. Even if it was useless, he wouldn't abandon his convictions.
Deadpool fell at the sound of the shot, but the next second, he jumped right back up and dug the blood-soaked bullet out of his forehead. "Whoa, that's too much! Are you kidding me?! You're ruthless, just like Batman! Those guys would really get along with you..."
The symbiote on his body also made a show of separating just from his head, morphing into a monstrous thing that let out a roar with its long tongue before enveloping Deadpool's head once more.
For Robin and the others, it was like a hallucination.
"Batman? At least he fights for this city. What are you?" Robin gritted his teeth, jumped into a car, slammed his foot on the accelerator, and rammed it straight at Deadpool.
Deadpool scratched his head, seeming somewhat troubled.
In his brain, the will from the symbiote was constantly urging him to kill, to kill these weaklings.
The deafening roar of the engine grew louder as the vehicle rapidly closed the distance with Deadpool. The roaring sound was just like Robin's agitated heart, filled with rage as he charged forward ferociously.
But just at the moment of impact, a golden portal suddenly appeared to the side. A hand reached out, grabbed Deadpool, pulled him inside, and the portal quickly closed.
Robin and his car brushed past Deadpool, slamming violently into a utility pole by the roadside with a loud crash.
On the chaotic street, police officers everywhere wore the same bewildered expressions as him. They scanned their surroundings mechanically, searching in confusion for that figure.
Deadpool... had suddenly vanished?
"That bastard... is he a monster?" Robin opened the car door, got out, and furiously kicked it.
A raspy voice suddenly came from the car roof. "It's just magic. Someone took him away."
A burly figure, a wide cape, a bat-like cowl, and a pair of deep eyes looked at Robin without a trace of emotion.
Those present were stunned for a few seconds, and then an uproar ensued. Some even subconsciously raised their guns.
"That guy is... Batman?!!!"
"Is he back? Oh my god! The Dark Knight has appeared again!"
"When did he get on the roof? I didn't notice a thing!"
Batman ignored the astonishment of the others, focusing his gaze on Robin, his prospective partner, and said in a low voice, "Never let anger take over your heart."
Robin was slightly surprised but quickly regained his composure, snorting coldly, "You should have shown yourself sooner. I know you've been in Gotham City all this time, silently watching over this city."
"Sorry, I was a little late."
Batman stared at the young police officer, then glanced at the spot where Deadpool had disappeared, his brow furrowed. He didn't know much about magic, but that golden circle was clearly the signature spell of Kamar-Taj.
Has someone from Kamar-Taj arrived?
Batman wondered to himself.
But a far more eerie laugh interrupted his thoughts. The laughter grew louder and wilder, filled with delight and chaos.
"Hee hee hee hee, The Bat, you're finally out! I've been waiting for you!" The strange voice emanated from every electronic device on the entire street, causing Batman's expression to darken instantly.
Joker!
A dangerous light gleamed in Batman's eyes. Lately, quite a few old friends have come to Gotham City...
...
Deadpool scrambled up from the ground, dazed and confused. The first thing he saw was a young man sizing him up with great interest.
"Tony! You're Tony!" Deadpool leaped up, waving his arms, seemingly overjoyed. "I know you, you're Tony! I'm Wade, a... um, mercenary?"
"We'll talk about you later. I'm only interested in the symbiote on you." Tony sized him up for a moment, then unceremoniously reached out, grabbed Deadpool's mask, and yanked it hard!
