Chapter 390

Chapter 380: The Last... Possibility

Author: Great Demon Spirit

Trigon lowered his head, his six eyes narrowing slightly as he stared at the little thing walking out of the portal, a dangerous glint within them.

"You just said... Lord of Hell?"

Mephisto stared blankly at the sky. The exploding sparks and flying planetary debris all around told him that a great war had just broken out here.

Even Tony was exuding a fatally dangerous aura.

These two... were fighting?

And they dragged me into this?!

Mephisto felt as if a hand were wrapped around his neck, letting out a constant rasping sound. Any words he had were stuffed back into his chest as if by a punch.

"No, no, that's not what I said, Lord Trigon! You are the true Lord of Hell!"

Mephisto shrieked, his voice cracking. He backed away slightly, trying to figure out a way to escape, but Tony beat him to it, blocking the portal completely.

The great Mephisto was in a real bind.

"Is that so? Hehehe, but I could have sworn that's what I heard you say." Trigon dug a finger into his ear, his gaze filled with chilling killing intent as he looked at this lesser demon that he could crush with a single finger.

A piece of trash like Mephisto could be crushed with one finger, no different from crushing a flea.

"No, you misheard!" Mephisto wiped the cold sweat from his brow and suddenly pointed a finger at Tony. "It was him! He's the one who said it, my lord! He calls himself the Lord of Hell!"

...

Even Trigon was suddenly silent for a moment, unsure of what to do.

*Do you really take me for an idiot...*

Trigon tilted his head, rubbing his fingers together as he considered whether he should kill this thing that had made him hesitate.

It was too rare an occurrence; he had actually hesitated.

"Is this the helper you found? Is this your confidence? You want Mephisto to kill me?" A trace of interest rose in Trigon, as if he were prodding a bug in a bowl. He was very interested in the second bug that had suddenly barged in.

Especially since this second bug was summoned by the first.

What?! Mephisto was stunned. He whipped his head around to look at Tony, his widened eyes filled with disbelief.

Summon me to deal with Trigon? I'm a demon too, you know!

No, that's not important... The point is, can he beat Trigon?

"Tony, you bastard, you've screwed me over again!" Mephisto roared, losing his head. He lunged for Tony, completely ignoring the dangerous aura emanating from him.

He had to show his loyalty to Trigon.

The next second, Tony slammed Mephisto to the ground, the gesture as effortless as holding down a puppy's head.

"Strange, why isn't the Ancient One here yet...?"

Tony leaned against the portal, a look of confusion on his face.

If the Ancient One were to use the Infinity Gauntlet, she might even be stronger than him. Then he could give that thing away without any more reservations.

But... where was the Ancient One?

This short amount of time should have been enough for the Ancient One to catch up and return to this universe.

"Ancient One? That woman died long ago, she was killed! I saw it with my own eyes!" Mephisto laughed manically, his expression still one of humiliation as he cursed loudly.

The Ancient One... was dead?

Tony's eyes became vacant, and his body swayed slightly.

His heart sank. He took a deep breath.

He had considered it. Several years was enough time for the Ancient One to return to Kamar-Taj, but no matter how he searched, there was no news of her.

He, Mordo, and the others were mentally prepared for the worst-case scenario.

But... for the strongest sorcerer on Earth, the Ancient One whose wisdom and power were both top-tier, to just die like that?

"Who killed her?" Tony asked in a low voice.

"I don't know. By the time I got there, the Ancient One was already dead, devoured by a mass of black light." Mephisto struggled a few times, but his only reward was an enraged, heavy punch from Tony.

Trigon watched the struggle between the two ants for a while, then laughed loudly. "Interesting, truly interesting. The third ant can't make it?"

Trigon extended a finger, his long, sharp nail pointing first at Mephisto, the bug who had accidentally stumbled into his game. Trigon was in a very pleasant mood, as if he were watching a family drama. The sight of a few bugs giving their all over such a trivial matter gave him a great sense of pleasure.

It had been a long time since he'd felt this way.

So as not to disturb his game with Tony, it was better to simply squash Mephisto.

Literally.

Mephisto couldn't even let out a scream. Tony pulled away, and Mephisto's current body was annihilated on the spot.

Following that metaphysical connection, the finger seemed to cross countless vast distances and complex dimensions, precisely locating Mephisto's true body.

A magnificent palace built upon the magma lands, where countless slaves toiled, was crushed by Trigon, along with their master, Mephisto.

Mephisto died without even letting out a single plea for mercy.

A great demon had died at the hands of an even greater demon, killed with just one finger.

It might seem incredible to those who had submitted to Mephisto's power, but reality was just that cruel. Before Trigon, the most powerful demon in history, all other demons were trash.

The arrogant Trigon had probably been annoyed by that "Lord of Hell" comment long ago.

Although the quasi-ninth level Trigon was strong, he had never truly ruled Hell. In Hell, there were still some beings even more powerful than him; they were the true rulers of Hell.

It was rather amusing, actually. The world of Hell where demons lived was actually ruled by non-demon creatures.

Another hand reached for Tony.

"Only you left. Let's see what else you've got... Just that weak Singularity item of yours? Honestly, I have never seen such a weak Singularity item."

Trigon let out a malicious laugh. No longer holding back, he directly attempted to erase Tony.

Even the weakest Singularity item held research value.

Perhaps this unknown multiversal being had simply failed to unearth the true power of his Singularity item.

Tony's face was impassive and numb. He held out his right hand, unleashing the power of all five Infinity Stones. The different systems of power intertwined and collided, causing a vast aura of destruction to spread out as he did his utmost to resist Trigon's clone, who was now getting slightly more serious.

"If this were Trigon's true body, I would have died long ago, unable to block even a single move. But against Trigon's clone, I have a chance to win."

Tony calculated in his mind. His entire body grew visibly emaciated as he gathered every last bit of his energy and channeled it into the Infinity Gauntlet.

The two powers collided and exploded. The space-time they occupied shattered on the spot, only to be stubbornly restored by the universe itself. All original matter was annihilated, leaving a vast vacuum.

The sight of his struggling, wavering figure only served to amuse the great demon.

The five Infinity Stones were already covered in cracks, having been pushed beyond their limits.

With several blinding flashes of light and a massive energy wave, the Time and Mind Stones were almost completely shattered. The three remaining stones were also riddled with cracks.

"Let's see how you're going to kill this clone of mine!"

Trigon laughed wildly. A storm swept through the universe, causing the entire cosmos to tremble unceasingly. Galaxies violently collided with one another, only to continuously split apart.

Tony's face was grim. He said nothing, looking down at the Infinity Gauntlet on his hand.

The golden gauntlet had now grown dim and lusterless.

"Maybe it's really possible..." Tony murmured to himself.

Without the Ancient One, he still had a backup plan, his true final gambit.

He thought he had already guessed what that black light was.

A black stone...
