Chapter 396

Chapter 386: The King Bomb

Dormammu was pulled out, completely baffled. He cautiously looked around, ready to flee at any moment.

But the surroundings were empty, with only a terrifying aura lingering.

Where was Trigon?

Dormammu, bewildered, first glanced at the scrawny Number One, then looked at Tony. After a moment's hesitation, a fierce expression appeared on his face as he roared,

"Tony, I can feel it! The master-servant contract between us is broken! Don't even think about enslaving me again, and certainly don't think you can use me as your hired muscle anymore! I'm not afraid of you!"

As he spoke, Dormammu's body rapidly retreated, preparing to escape back to the Dark Dimension.

The Guardian of Earth holding the Infinity Gauntlet... That's too terrifying... My Dark Dimension is much better.

A black light swept over. Number One arrived, stepping on the black light. He was just an ordinary human with no superpowers; he had to rely entirely on the Plot Gem.

"Is this your backup plan? Dormammu—oh, a level-seven Dormammu. Is this the backup plan you so carefully prepared?"

Number One was dumbfounded, watching Dormammu, who had appeared as large as a planet but was now shrinking at an astonishing speed.

This was the kind of trash Tony had prepared as a backup plan against him?

A mere level seven... A simple instant kill.

Tony was calm, his emotionless eyes glancing at the cautious Dormammu. "Do you know why our contract was broken?"

"Why?" Dormammu asked while desperately shrinking his body. He figured it would make it easier to run and reduce the chances of being spotted.

"Because I beat Mephisto to death. Do you want to be next?"

Without batting an eye, Tony calmly took credit for Trigon's accomplishment.

*Trigon killed Mephisto, and I found a way to kill Trigon,* he thought. *By that logic, there's no problem.*

Number One, however, gave Tony a suspicious glance, but it wasn't important.

"You should have come out to help me long ago, but you were afraid. I returned the Dark Dimension to you so you would appear at the critical moment to strike Trigon, but you've been hiding until now."

Tony reached out, grabbing the rapidly retreating Dormammu and throwing him forward.

The spatial vortex slowly closed, and the light of the Space Stone completely faded. Like the other four gems, it stopped glowing, looking just like an ordinary stone.

Terrified, Dormammu struggled desperately, growling, "Tony, you're not my master anymore! The great Dormammu is free... Hey, hey, can't we negotiate...? Fine, you win. The great Dormammu has decided to help you one last time..."

The closer he got, the more cowardly Dormammu became.

The black light, descending like a celestial curtain, froze every single minute particle in place. Seeing this, Dormammu's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets, his face filled with terror.

He had only just managed to get the Dark Dimension back; he didn't want to die just like that!

Damn it, why did they have to drag the innocent Lord Dormammu into this?

And who the hell was this scrawny guy? Did such a powerhouse even exist in the universe?

The great Dormammu was thrown directly by Tony to block the black light. Under the power of the black light, he was instantly immobilized. The outer layer of his body was stripped away, and countless amounts of dark energy were purged, accompanied by his faint, agonizing screams.

A glint flashed in Tony's eyes as he silently committed this to memory.

"Kill me, and you can ascend to become the One-Above-All?" Tony suddenly asked.

Number One was slightly taken aback, but he admitted it bluntly, "Kill you, and I can ascend to become the One-Above-All."

"You are not a singularity. So what about your doppelgangers?"

Tony blocked a ray of black light and, under the protection of the Allspark, retreated again before he could be completely "corrected."

This guy before him, this suspected "author," didn't dare to kill him at all!

Nor could he completely suppress the Allspark!

This was getting interesting. A guy trying to become a singularity...

A creator who wasn't a singularity?

So what were his doppelgangers? Even if he controlled the Plot Gem, he couldn't possibly turn a mere mortal into a singular being.

As long as he existed, he was inevitably bound by the rules of the multiverse, such as having countless replicated doppelgangers...

"Those guys are all idiots, cowards!" Number One waved his hand impatiently. "You'll find out when you're dead!"

Dormammu's body was torn to shreds. Amidst his screams, a tiny fragment of his soul managed to escape in a sorry state, fleeing into the Dark Dimension.

"Bring out your final move. I know you. You're never the type to play your trump card at the beginning. You always save your best card for last."

Number One grinned grimly and said.

"To deal with Trigon, you used the Allspark and summoned Mephisto to lure me over to help you kill him. So, what do you have to deal with me?"

"You must have a backup plan, a trump card. You would definitely save your best card for last!"

Number One shot forward like a meteor. The recently "corrected" black light granted him super speed, allowing him to move at incredible velocity in the vacuum of the universe.

The power of the Plot Continuity Gem was being used to its fullest extent in Number One's hands because he was, after all, a suspected "author."

After jumping in, he seemed to have lost his authorial authority. He could only arrange to give himself the Plot Gem beforehand, prior to entering.

Without that authority, he was just an ordinary human, nothing at all!

The Plot Gem was the most suitable thing for him because this kind of power was, in a way, the alternative "ability" he was supposed to have!

Tony remained silent, not showing the slightest hint of surprise. Inwardly, however, he sneered.

*Author...?*

*If he were truly the author, how could his understanding of me be so shallow? At the very least, this ambitious guy before me who wants to ascend to become the One-Above-All is still lacking by a great deal.*

*This Slim is, at most, a doppelganger of the real author. He tricked the one responsible for him and then ambitiously jumped in, hoping to achieve success in a single leap.*

*Perhaps... these so-called "authors," who are no different from ordinary humans...*

A strange smile hung on the corners of Tony's mouth.

*That's all there is to it.*

This Slim before him, this fool, seemed to think too highly of himself. But he was crazy enough—a guy who wanted to ascend to become the One-Above-All, a guy with a pile of doppelgangers.

"You were right about one thing," Tony said. "I really don't like to play my king bomb first. I always like to hold something back, specifically to deal with people like you."

He truly didn't like playing his king bomb first in a game of cards, but when facing a singular being like Trigon, not playing it was simply courting death.

His first card was the Ancient One. If the Ancient One had lived and returned, Tony could have had her finish off Trigon's clone.

But when the Ancient One died, his only option was to use the unique energy particles of the Allspark to lure Slim over to help him deal with Trigon.

He succeeded. Trigon was dead. His first round of cards had been played.

As for the king bomb... when facing this arrogant Slim, why save the best card for last?
