Chapter 420

Chapter 409: As Expected of Lord Dormammu!

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Somewhere in the universe, in a place called Nowhere—a paradise for mercenaries and a melting pot of all sorts.

Dormammu, with a majestic expression, flew through the vacuum of space. Then, with a supreme and imposing figure, he descended upon a frighteningly large skull.

This skull was called Nowhere.

This skull belonged to an ancient Celestial. He was slain many years ago, his head severed and cast into space. It eventually became a base of operations for all kinds of life in the universe, known to all as "Nowhere."

For many years, countless adventurers had mined this skull for its value. From brain matter to bone marrow, everything was dug out and sold, ultimately ending up in the stomachs of countless wealthy individuals.

The flesh and blood of a Level-Seven god was a treasure more precious than any medicine.

The ground under his feet felt harder than rock, having been repeatedly leveled countless times. The surrounding decorations, and the marvelous structures built within the skull's nearly hollowed-out interior, delivered a massive shock to all first-time visitors.

Of course, Lord Dormammu couldn't care less about such things.

Inside the skull, bizarre buildings of every shape and size were everywhere. A vast network of lights illuminated the darkness, resembling a dazzling and flourishing starry night sky viewed from a planet's surface.

In the surrounding area, some small cutting machines could be seen carefully slicing away at the "walls."

They were collecting the last remaining bits of bone marrow.

Dormammu wasn't piloting a spaceship, nor did he need one. He simply flew in with his own body, always in a straight line. His brutish advance caused him to crash through numerous buildings along the way, triggering waves of startled cries and suppressed curses.

"Bastard, it's... mmmph..."

"Who is it?"

"Dormammu! It's Lord Dormammu, the man who is said to have gone toe-to-toe with Trigon!"

"Wh-what? Could he be that legendary being?!"

Before the curses from countless beings of all kinds could even be uttered, they were choked back, replaced by frenzied adoration and fanaticism.

Even those unfamiliar with Dormammu would reveal expressions of heartfelt shock after asking those around them.

"Dormammu! Dormammu!!"

Countless cheers echoed throughout Nowhere as countless beings hailed Dormammu.

In the past, such a frenzied scene could only be seen among Dormammu's fanatics, like Kaecilius and his ilk, who pursued Dormammu so fervently in their thirst for immortality.

But now, these unruly individuals offered their reverence and worship to Dormammu without hesitation.

Lord Dormammu was very pleased by this.

His expression was cold, the dark fire burning atop his head. The raging flames, far from providing warmth, instilled a feeling of heart-stopping dread. His burly physique was like a mountain, his majestic demeanor like the galaxy sweeping across the night sky. Wherever his cold and indifferent eyes glanced, the people there would freeze for a split second.

And then would come even louder cheers.

"Dormammu! Dormammu!!"

Lord Dormammu had a strong urge to raise his hand and wave in response to the shouts of his faithful worshippers—a move he had learned on Earth, which, despite its simplicity, was said to have immense power.

He remembered how those lowly mortals would wave their hands, and countless people would cheer with small flags.

Dormammu listened to the sounds of praise, finding them very agreeable, as if he had personally pushed open the gates to a new world and seen a completely different vista.

In the past, he had destroyed numerous galaxies, feared by many and worshipped by the greedy. But now? Now he was being genuinely thanked and worshipped by countless people.

It was a very strange feeling. He had done nothing, yet so many people respected him.

It all stemmed from that one battle—that cataclysmic, earth-shattering war that had shattered a vast number of galaxies and nearly destroyed the entire universe.

Dormammu flew into the largest bar in Nowhere. He was quite fond of a particular beverage here.

The moment he entered, countless people noticed him. They waved and cheered, respectfully clearing a path.

Though Dormammu was inwardly pleased as punch, he strove to maintain his dignity. He suddenly felt that *this* was the life...

"Lord Dormammu, tell us how you defeated Trigon!"

"Yeah, yeah! Rumor has it you fought Trigon to a draw and saved our universe!"

"Ahhh! That's Trigon we're talking about! I've read about him in ancient texts passed down from my ancestors. He's said to be the strongest demon in Hell!"

"Strongest? He still knelt before Lord Dormammu! As I see it, that Trigon is nothing!"

The various strange-looking lifeforms argued heatedly.

Dormammu took the drink from the bartender, whose face was alight with fanatical emotion. He downed it in one gulp, his eyes narrowing slightly as if reminiscing about that brutal battle, his face growing somber and full of lament.

The crowd gradually fell silent, watching Dormammu in awe.

This was the man who was said to have gone toe-to-toe with Trigon!

A truly and supremely great god!

"Last time, where did I leave off?" Dormammu began in a low voice, sounding incredibly forlorn, as if filled with reminiscence and melancholy for a past too painful to recall.

"It must have been when you stepped out of the Dark Dimension, billions of meters tall, to face Trigon!" someone reminded him fanatically. He had already become one of Dormammu's die-hard fans.

"Ah... we've already gotten to that part..." Dormammu slammed his cup down with a bang and sighed, his tone filled with endless sorrow, nearly bringing many to tears.

Lord Dormammu... he must have paid a terrible price, right?

Dormammu... is truly a great man!

The next person who dares call Lord Dormammu a wicked destroyer of civilizations, I'll beat them to death on sight!

Dormammu pondered for a moment before speaking slowly, "That day, I sensed the arrival of an evil aura from within the Dark Dimension. I resolved to protect our world. Then, I confronted Trigon, and we fought a great battle. Every clash destroyed countless galaxies, and innumerable civilizations were annihilated by Trigon, but I couldn't save them in time... I'm truly sorry."

As he spoke, Dormammu, with a heavy expression, drank another beverage, smacking his lips with a look of despair.

The crowd fell silent, listening intently.

The few who had just walked in felt their eyelids twitch uncontrollably, but they managed to hold their tongues and endure it.

"Lord Dormammu, were you the one who finally defeated Trigon?" someone asked impatiently.

Hearing this question, Dormammu fell silent. Finally, he let out a deep sigh, his tone a mixture of "I'm so tired," "why do you all care so much about such empty fame," and "what a headache," as he lamented softly:

"That's right, you actually figured it out... Indeed, it was I who defeated Trigon!"
