Chapter 454 Devastator: That Greasy Green Scumbag...
The sight of Devastator ramming his head against the protective shield and then slowly squeezing his way through was incredibly intimidating.
"That big guy... he also appeared the last time the military attacked us."
The captain of the guard, Okoye, whispered, holding her sonic spear.
"That war was just his move to divert the military's attention and test us," T'Challa said, his expression unchanged as he put on the Black Panther suit. "From that moment on, we, Wakanda, were forced to be exposed to the world."
As Wakanda's vigilance and research on Tony grew, some things had long ceased to be secrets.
However, Tony's power and status had risen so meteorically that they didn't dare make a move. Any small schemes they had could only be suppressed as they remained silent.
Did the old king, T'Chaka, not want revenge?
He did, to the point of madness. He was a ruthless man by nature.
He had originally made some moves against A.R.G.U.S., but he was met with a fierce counterattack. The weapons they developed based on Vibranium had limited lethality and were not very effective against the undead warriors of A.R.G.U.S. After suffering several setbacks, coupled with Tony's immense power and status, Wakanda could only swallow its pride.
But today, they had to face a crisis that threatened their nation's very existence.
Tony's greed for the Vibranium mine was on full display, sparing no effort... Compared to last time, he couldn't even be bothered to conceal his intentions.
It was obvious: on the eve of his departure from Earth, he was going to pin Wakanda down, pull off one last big score, and get out.
The nations of the world had no choice but to accept this tacitly. No one was willing to get in the way at this critical juncture, as it would be pointless.
No one could stop Tony. This was the result of absolute power.
On the battlefield, Devastator was the first to break through the protective shield. The intense pain radiating from all over his body threw him into a state of confusion, even leading to the embarrassing scene of him tripping over his own two feet and falling.
This was because Devastator himself was different from other combiners. He didn't have a single, coordinating consciousness. Instead, his six components had to communicate with each other to reach a consensus before they could perform a unified action.
This led to very awkward situations. When the components disagreed, they would even end up fighting each other and holding themselves back...
The most direct result was the different components performing completely different actions.
"Damn it, you're the right foot, why are you kicking me, the left foot!" Mixmaster complained.
"It hurts... You're clearly the one who kicked me!" Scrapper immediately cursed back.
Then, the left foot lifted, about to kick the right.
The other Transformers couldn't hear the mental communication between Devastator's components, but his clumsy movements said it all.
"What a bunch of idiots!" Bruticus, also a combiner, strode over Devastator's body, tossing out an insult as he passed.
Clearly, the six guys who worked as excavators were showing their true colors due to the intense pain of passing through the protective shield.
"He's cursing at us."
"Yes, that self-righteous scumbag Bruticus is cursing at us."
"Let's go, teach him a lesson."
"Right, we should do that. But what color should we show him?"
"Green, it has to be green! I like green!"
A consensus was quickly reached within Devastator. His movements instantly coordinated as he leaped up from the ground. His heavy body landed with a thud, causing a small earthquake as cracks spiderwebbed across the earth beneath his feet.
The Wakandans' covering fire rained down. Beams from their energy weapons struck Devastator's body, but these "minute" impacts were not enough to make him pause his steps in the slightest.
His body didn't even sway.
The reason Devastator was widely considered the weakest combiner—excluding Piranacon, who was a naval combat expert but useless on land—was because he had six independent consciousnesses. In emergencies, they would always create some self-contradictory mess, making it difficult to trust them. At critical moments, this would directly impact his combat effectiveness.
In the wild and savage Decepticon ranks, combat power was the primary metric for an individual's worth. And Devastator, who had no research or intelligence capabilities, was in a very awkward position due to his chaotic consciousness.
Normally, he was very powerful. He could arm-wrestle with Bruticus and crush Piranacon in a land battle.
But as soon as an unexpected event occurred, he would fall into disarray. In the ensuing panic, he might even end up causing massive casualties among his own allies.
Who would dare to trust such a Devastator?
Having reached an agreement internally, Devastator went full throttle, charging through the enemy's firepower like a prehistoric beast. A true steamroller of a being, the thudding of his steps echoed across the ground, exerting immense pressure on everyone.
On the Wakandan side, seeing huge guys like Bruticus and Devastator charging, some of the rhino war beasts showed clear signs of retreat.
Within Devastator, six components meant six independent energy cores. When all six cores exerted their power at once, the resulting force was astonishing.
Devastator was formed from the six Constructicons. They were experts at demolition, and their energy reserves were much greater than that of an ordinary bot.
Devastator gave chase relentlessly. Just as Bruticus was about to crash into the enemy ranks and begin his slaughter, he caught up.
It all happened in an instant. Devastator suddenly opened his mouth and viciously sprayed Bruticus with a stream of... green fuel!
It dyed Bruticus's silver exterior completely green!!!
"Hook, from this day forward, I, Mixmaster, acknowledge you as the strongest part of Devastator."
"That's right! Hook, you magnificent bastard, you're a real genius!"
"So embarrassing..."
"Scavenger, shut your mouth! All you need to do is offer a tone of reverence for Lord Hook! Here, repeat after me: 'Hook, you magnificent bastard, you're a real genius'..."
"This is Hook. I'm panicking like hell. I turned Bruticus green."
Chaos erupted inside Devastator's mind, all of them shocked by the magnificent feat of Hook, who formed the head and shoulders.
"Should we separate, quickly? I think Bruticus is about to go berserk."
"No, we're a single entity..." said the highly artistic Hook in a panic.
He had seen Bruticus's back, thought it had great artistic value, and inexplicably decided to plaster him with green.
Devastator began to panic. The minds of the six components were once again divided. Hook desperately held the others together, refusing to let them separate, while the other five components were also panicking.
When the greasy green Bruticus ignored the enemies right in front of him, came to a stiff halt, and stared at Devastator with undisguised killing intent, they panicked even more.
"Aiya~ so that scumbag Bruticus also knows the meaning of green~"
"Ah, I thought we were communicating mentally! Why did you say that out loud? That scumbag heard it..."
"You said it out loud too!!"
"Couldn't help it, couldn't help it! It's all the damn internet's fault! Always feeding that scumbag weird ideas."
And so, before the green Bruticus, who was radiating overwhelming killing intent, could even make a move, Devastator tripped over himself once again. Under everyone's watchful gaze, he crashed to the ground with a loud bang, utterly disgraced.
