Chapter 497: Galactus: There's a Bug
October 19, 2022 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Countless stars dotted the Universe.
Matter was simply too abundant. For a powerhouse capable of interstellar travel, all kinds of matter could be molded at will.
Gazing up at the star-filled cosmos, scientists from some civilizations could witness an incredibly terrifying scene.
Faint points of light would suddenly flare up, only to be extinguished in an instant, like countless sparks from a fire, flashing brightly before immediately dying out.
That was Tony destroying planets, breaking down formed matter, taking what was useful to him, and directly condensing it into metallic substances.
Tony moved rapidly within the Andromeda Galaxy. He would appear in an instant, shatter a planet with a single punch, toss the needed matter into a portal, and then immediately arrive before the next planet to continue his star-destroying work.
That's right, Tony wasn't wreaking havoc in the Milky Way Galaxy; he was saving that as a private reserve for Cybertron. He had gone directly to the closest major galaxy to the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, to stir up trouble.
Tony specifically targeted and destroyed lifeless planets, one for each punch. Then, he skillfully devoured the vast quantities of matter, transporting it to the Cybertron system in the Centaurus constellation of the Milky Way Galaxy.
Some lifeforms in the Andromeda Galaxy discovered with utter horror that in the space they observed, a massive number of planets were exploding for no reason.
This deeply infuriated a certain Cosmic Being who happened to be wandering through the Andromeda Galaxy.
Galactus. He was one of the Five Great Gods, on par with beings like Death and Oblivion.
Not long ago, he had the misfortune of being captured by the Annihilation Wave and used as a battery to draw energy from the Universe's source. Then, the fiercely battling Tony and One accidentally broke into the Negative Zone, allowing Galactus to escape.
After escaping, Galactus's first priority wasn't to seek revenge on the Annihilation Wave, but... to eat.
Eat, eat, eat, eat, eat. This was Galactus's hobby. He was in a constant state of hunger and needed to devour planets for sustenance. Because of this, he was known as the Destroyer of Civilizations.
"So hungry..."
Galactus possessed a colossal humanoid form. Flying through the Universe, he was like a rampaging planet. Having arrived in the Andromeda Galaxy, he harbored an immense craving for planets of all different flavors.
He ate his way through space, consuming countless planets along his path.
"This planet, I like it..." Galactus murmured, his massive body arriving before a planet filled with mineral deposits. A rare trace of delight appeared on his wooden face.
This was a mineral planet, belonging to the Skrull Empire.
Then, Galactus lowered his head, stared for a few seconds, and then, as if realizing something, raised his two terrifyingly large arms to embrace the planet and take a bite.
"Huh, Galactus?"
A surprised voice suddenly rang out.
Galactus paid it no mind. His head was filled with thoughts of eating; his eyes saw only the planet, and he had no interest in anything else. The hunger churning in his stomach made him impatiently reach out, his hands just about to grasp the planet.
Didn't you see he couldn't even be bothered with the Annihilation Wave? Eating was what mattered most.
Tony looked up at Galactus, utterly astonished, his pupils revealing his surprise. What a coincidence, to run into Galactus in Andromeda.
"Wait, the Andromeda Galaxy is Skrull territory..." Tony suddenly remembered something, and his expression turned a bit strange.
It seemed that in his past life, he remembered that the Skrulls' homeworld was eaten by an indiscriminately hungry Galactus... This had also led to the racial custom where all Skrulls would pale at the mention of Galactus and flee at the first sight of him.
It was also the beginning of the great decline of the Skrulls, who later fell into such dire straits that they launched a secret invasion of Earth in an attempt to occupy it and rebuild their civilization.
Just think about it, the Skrull Empire, which occupied the 220,000-light-year-wide Andromeda Galaxy and was known as one of the Three Great Interstellar Empires alongside the Kree and Shi'ar Empires, was actually reduced to such a desperate state...
"The unlucky Skrulls still couldn't escape this fate," Tony sighed.
But that had nothing to do with him.
Running into Galactus was a coincidence. Both of them setting their sights on the same planet was also a coincidence. Nothing to be done about it.
Just as Galactus was wrapping his hands around the planet to enjoy his meal, Tony struck first and blew it up.
Bang!
A firework of an explosion lit up, and tiny sparks splashed onto Galactus's face, causing the great being to startle. A rare emotion of blank confusion rose in his slow-thinking mind.
His pupils, far larger than the moon, stared innocently at his empty hands, as if hesitating, thinking.
Then, he watched as an enormous, golden-sparking ring of light appeared and swallowed all the matter.
Impressive. Stealing my food and not even leaving a crumb.
Galactus was furious!
Even Galactus, who only wanted to eat and not cause trouble, was completely enraged.
"You bug, die!!!"
Galactus roared, and countless planets trembled beneath his form. He glared at Tony, blazing with rage, opened his mouth, and an endless torrent of terrifying source energy poured out. This was an attack from a Level Seven Cosmic Being's clone.
"What can I do? This mineral planet is very important to me," Tony sighed helplessly, muttering to himself as he decisively fled.
Galactus's attack missed, but he didn't care. He immediately turned and hurried toward the next planet.
To be honest, Galactus was actually quite reasonable, provided you didn't interfere with his mealtime. He was a nice guy; he would even warn the natives on a planet to leave before he ate it, though that was pretty much useless.
Arriving before a new planet, Galactus spread his arms, embracing it and preparing to take a bite.
"Huh, this planet's mineral deposits are also very rich!" that annoying voice sounded again. Then, right in front of his face, the planet was shattered with a punch, and all the matter was skillfully collected.
Galactus paused, then immediately moved toward a third planet. No longer sluggish, he was as fast as lightning! He locked onto his target and grabbed it!
"Whoa, this one too! What a rich star system..."
Bang!
It exploded again...
ROAR!!!
You really think I'm easy to bully!!!
Fire blazed in Galactus's eyes, and they instantly turned red. As a clone of one of the Five Great Gods, how many years had it been since he was so humiliated? He just wanted to eat!
You won't even let me eat! This is a feud of life and death!!!
More hateful than the Annihilation Wave!!!
Galactus was now truly enraged and about to kill Tony to vent his fury, but when he looked down, Tony was already gone.
"That should be enough. These three planets can provide me with nearly a third of the metallic matter..."
Faintly, Galactus heard the bug's muttering.
He felt he had been made a fool of.
After standing stunned for a few seconds, the hunger in his stomach took over, and Galactus moved.
"So hungry..."
Galactus immediately ran to the next planet, no longer caring about the taste. He grabbed it and stuffed it into his mouth, as if on guard against something.
...
"Who is it!!!"
The Skrulls were utterly furious. As one of the Three Great Interstellar Empires that shook the Universe, the Andromeda Galaxy had always been Skrull territory.
But now! Someone was brazenly destroying planets! Most importantly, the Skrulls had lost many designated mineral planets...
The deposits on them were extremely valuable and incredibly rare.
But Tony shattered them with a single punch and took everything away.
"Have those damned Kree declared war on us?" the King of the Skrull Empire said angrily.
"Your Majesty, we are investigating. But according to the Academy of Sciences' estimates, there is an over 80% probability that the Kree did it. They have always been this despicable and shameless."
The King's face darkened, and he snorted angrily. Whether it was them or not, they would pin this huge pile of crap on the Kree first and ask questions later.
The Skrull and the Kree were two empires, mortal enemies to one another.
The Kree occupied the Milky Way Galaxy's satellite galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud.
The Skrulls, on the other hand, occupied the 220,000-light-year-wide Andromeda Galaxy, which was the closest major galaxy to the Milky Way.
The two had been at each other's throats for tens of thousands of years. Flinging mud at each other was politically correct; regardless of the truth, smearing the other side came first.
"Your Majesty! This is terrible!!!" An expert from the Academy of Sciences ran in, flustered.
"Galactus, he's arrived at our homeworld!!!"
