Chapter 539: A Way to Turn the Tables
The Asgardian civilian ship finally arrived in the Cybertron galaxy—a legendary system that, despite being established for less than a year, had already become widely renowned.
Thor piloted the spaceship, cautiously observing the various vessels coming and going. The multitude of signals on the display screen made his heart pound.
"The Ravagers are recruiting new members! Combat personnel must be at least Level Two! Technicians will be interviewed! Friendly reminder: don't listen to the crap from those little bastards in the Guardians of the Galaxy, you'll get scammed!"
"The Guardians of the Galaxy issue a warning to all rookies: do not trust that group of old scumbags next door! I repeat, do not trust a word the Ravagers say!"
"I am Nebula, the adopted daughter of Thanos, and you can't trust a word from either of them! I've been scammed by both groups of scum twice, and I wish I could kill them!"
Thor stared blankly at the flood of incoming signals.
There were recruitment notices, streams of curses, and mission postings...
Vessels zipped back and forth through interstellar space. These death-defying mercenaries and bounty hunters were unruly, using Warworld as their new stronghold.
Heimdall stared grimly at the screen and said, "Tony killed Mongul when he invaded Earth and seized the Warworld that Mongul painstakingly built, turning it into a new mercenary hub for the universe. Moreover, nearly twenty Demigod-level powerhouses have already appeared under his command, and it's possible there are even more hidden experts. When necessary, he can even command the mercenaries of Warworld to fight for him."
"No, Heimdall. 'When necessary' is when Tony takes action himself," Thor said, piloting the ship with a serious expression that held a mix of anticipation and longing.
The gap between him and Tony seemed to have grown even wider.
Loki fell silent for a moment before saying in a low voice, "Tony will take you in. He'd be more than happy to absorb this small Asgardian population."
"He won't. I know the character of this former Sorcerer Supreme better than you do." Thor glanced at his brother, then looked forward again. "I am willing to pay any price, except for my people, just to secure a temporary sanctuary and the power to become stronger."
Loki snorted coldly, his face darkening as he said no more.
He also hoped Tony had a way to make Thor stronger because they were at a dead end.
Asgard's rearguard—Nidavellir—had also been destroyed by Thanos, cutting off any possibility of Thor growing stronger.
Just as Thor and his group identified themselves and received entry authorization from Ultron, a violent fluctuation erupted, and a great battle suddenly broke out.
Thanos had come to the Cybertron galaxy for the sixth time. Without a single wasted word, he attacked on sight.
Meeting him in battle were Liege Maximo and twelve other Primes who had long been waiting, each with a cold smile on their face and a curious, murderous glint in their eyes.
In a thirteen-on-one battle, no matter how strong Thanos was, the outcome was already sealed.
Thor recognized Thanos at a glance, a flicker of rage and hatred flashing in his eyes. He then silently watched as the tyrant who terrorized the universe was besieged by thirteen robots he had never seen before. His limbs were severed, and he was finally imprisoned and taken away by a black robot, flying off in the direction of the Sun.
"I've never seen these thirteen powerful robots before. They are undoubtedly Tony's creations. He has already become this powerful..." Instead of feeling dejected, the longing in Thor's eyes grew even more intense.
Changing course, the spaceship flew directly to the third planet, Cybertron, a world made entirely of metal.
"What happened?"
Tony frowned slightly as he looked at the battered group with Thor. A thought struck him, and he immediately sensed the faint auras of over a hundred thousand Asgardian civilians.
They were almost all mortals without any divine power; warriors were far too scarce.
Thor lowered his head and brushed the dust from his clothes. His hair was a mess, and his expression was downcast. "We were attacked. A god assaulted Asgard."
"Where's Odin?"
"My father stayed behind to fight the enemy. I took the opportunity to escape with these people."
Tony stared at him for a long moment, then sighed.
"Thor, if Amatsu-Mikaboshi has the strength to defeat Odin, then I'm no match for him either."
Tony spread his hands, admitting it frankly.
Tony knew the history of Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Lord of Chaos, all too well. It was a process of frenzied slaughter and consumption. Amatsu-Mikaboshi devoured one Pantheon after another, growing stronger with each battle, before beginning to devour the universe itself, ultimately becoming the Level Eight Lord of Chaos.
"You know about Amatsu-Mikaboshi too?" Thor's eyes lit up.
"Of course. A very troublesome fellow who is currently slaughtering the major Pantheons."
"Then you must help me. I know you, Tony." Thor strode forward and placed his two grimy hands on Tony's shoulders, gripping them tightly.
"You've created so many miracles and defeated so many terrifying enemies. You always have a way, don't you? I'm not asking you to help me get revenge, but I want to obtain greater power from you, so I can take revenge with my own hands."
Thor forced a stiff smile, trying to appear calm.
But his anxiety was already plain to see.
The continuation of his race rested entirely on his shoulders; the God of Thunder couldn't help but feel lost.
Tony looked helplessly at the somewhat crazed Thor. "There's no need to be so pessimistic. Can you confirm Odin's status?"
Heimdall said sorrowfully, "The battle is over... The continent of Asgard has collapsed, and I did not see the God-King..."
Overwhelming grief struck Thor, and he froze on the spot. Loki also stood there, stunned and silent. Then, he frantically grabbed Heimdall by the collar, his eyes bloodshot and trembling, before powerlessly letting go.
"What about Amatsu-Mikaboshi?" Tony asked.
"He disappeared."
Tony fell into thought.
To be honest, he had prepared many contingency plans for Amatsu-Mikaboshi. The worst-case scenario was undoubtedly abandoning the Prime Universe to flee, relocating all of Cybertron to other universes.
Fighting a fully grown Amatsu-Mikaboshi was suicide. As the Lord of Chaos and an independent clone of Oblivion, he was an absolute menace.
But that was the worst-case scenario. The best solution, without a doubt, was to eliminate Amatsu-Mikaboshi before he could fully mature.
Tony's gaze fell on Thor, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Thor, do you want revenge?" Tony said slowly.
"Yes, I want it so badly it's driving me mad! You have a way, don't you? I knew you'd have a plan, my friend!" Thor said urgently.
Tony looked at him quietly. "I have a way to make you stronger, but it comes at a great cost. I'm afraid you can't afford it."
"Aside from my people, I'm prepared to give everything!" Thor gritted his teeth.
"Alright..." Tony hesitated for a rare moment before nodding, proposing a dangerous way to turn the tables.
"I have in my possession some residual body tissue from the Celestials. Perhaps I can use this material to augment your body and make you stronger... But if you don't make it through, death is the best possible outcome. It's more likely you'll turn into a deformed monster!"
