Chapter 567: Another God Has Died
Author: Great Demon Spirit
The entire Earth breathed a huge sigh of relief the moment Steppenwolf disappeared.
Although the Parademon Army was terrifying, at least there were instances of them being killed.
But Steppenwolf had made the people of Earth feel nothing but despair.
This was merely a clone, yet it had crushed the entire Earth to the point of suffocation. Most of Earth's public superheroes had assembled, only to be toyed with and massacred by Steppenwolf time and again.
Admittedly, these superheroes did not represent the full extent of Earth's power. Figures like Constantine and Ghost Rider were only silently attacking the Parademons in various locations, without directly challenging Steppenwolf.
Wizard Shazam was still sitting quietly in his Rock of Eternity, discreetly observing the battle across Earth while still desperately searching for his successor.
Originally, Tony had considered obtaining the Legacy of Shazam before that brat, Shazam, could. In the end, however, Tony gave up the idea. Accepting the Legacy of Shazam meant chaining himself to a secondary tier of divine power, and the drawbacks were too great.
Moreover, after that monster Yuga Khan miraculously broke free from the confines of the Source Wall, he would tyrannically purge the new Shazam's six divine powers and shove his own primordial divine power into him instead.
At that time, the new Shazam would become nothing more than a weapon in Yuga Khan's hands.
"Counterattack. At least we can eliminate these damn Parademons!" Agent Coulson said calmly, issuing an order. "Remember to capture a few alive. The technology contained within these Parademons should be useful to Earth."
However, Agent Coulson didn't have high hopes; he was merely completing the mission assigned by the World Security Council.
How could the core secrets of Apokolips's strongest biological army possibly be fully deciphered by a minor planet like Earth? It would be a remarkable achievement just to analyze some scraps of it.
The entire Earth began to counterattack, frantically encircling and annihilating the damned Parademon legions. Their numbers, once three hundred thousand strong, began to plummet. Having lost Steppenwolf and the Boom Tube that transported reinforcements, the number of Parademons was steadily decreasing.
Of course, Earth was also continuously losing an even greater number of people in the process.
As long as Tony could deal with Steppenwolf—the god who was suffocating the entire planet—Earth would be safe.
As for the possibility of Tony being defeated... it existed, but it was very low.
Because Tony had never lost before.
In his basement, Agent Coulson silently watched the hundreds of smaller screens flashing across the massive display before him.
Based on his research and analysis of Tony, since Tony had made a move, he must have been confident of victory; it was just a matter of how high his chances were.
"May, what's the situation?" Agent Coulson asked impassively.
"They've shown their true colors," May said. "A mysterious party has made contact with Stryker. They seem to be very interested in the mothballed Sentinel Robots."
"Good... These reptiles hiding in the shadows!" Agent Coulson gritted his teeth.
The entanglement of HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. had spanned more than half a century. It was time to settle it.
...
Dark Dimension.
Ferocious energy waves destroyed planet after planet. The dead planets scattered throughout the Dark Dimension were already fragile, and before the might of two Level Seven combatants, they were utterly defenseless. A single, casually released aftershock could silently shatter an entire planet.
Massive chunks of rock turned into meteors, flying off into the distant darkness.
On Earth, a single one of those meteors could cause a mass extinction event. But here in the Dark Dimension, these countless shattered, exploding boulders were nothing more than insignificant specks of dust.
The two powerful beings collided, the immense energy waves tearing space asunder. As they broke apart once more, a flash of white light flared, and Steppenwolf's expression turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
His massive hand tightened its grip on the giant axe, his grim face brewing a chilling killing intent.
"You're lucky to have obtained the Mobius Chair," Steppenwolf said, his expression ferocious.
"You're lucky to have blocked one of my attacks," Tony sneered.
Steppenwolf's face darkened several more shades, becoming terrifyingly grim. His mouth twitched, and the grip on his axe tightened again and again.
Whenever he saw the three Mother Boxes enveloped by the barrier created by the chair, he grew even more infuriated.
Every time he tried to use his high-level authority to summon the Mother Boxes, they barely responded to him. At most, they would struggle a little before contentedly staying with Tony.
Such a thing was simply unheard of.
There were only three people who could control the Mother Boxes: Yuga Khan, Darkseid, and himself, Steppenwolf.
Now there was one more, making it four people. And this new one's authority was even higher than his. It was unbelievable.
"Why get so hung up on this? I already said it's just a rental, and I've paid you the rent in full without reservation," Tony said lightly.
Steppenwolf's expression was uncertain. After a long moment, he slowly asked, "Where did you get your information?"
"The Mobius Chair told me," Tony said.
"Ridiculous! It would be the height of absurdity if this chair knew anything about the Anti-Life Equation. To put it bluntly, it's nothing more than an upgraded Mother Box; it doesn't possess that kind of power."
Steppenwolf scoffed, but a thought suddenly struck him.
Mobius had gone through great pains to create this chair, only to discard it... The prevailing rumor was that anyone who sat on it would become a slave to knowledge.
While this seemed a bit far-fetched, there were countless examples of a creator being unable to control their own creation. It wasn't entirely impossible that Mobius couldn't fully control the Mobius Chair.
But if Mobius had truly obtained the Anti-Life Equation...
The Anti-Matter Universe...
Steppenwolf's expression flickered with uncertainty.
Tony sneered and piloted the chair to ram straight forward. A massive beam of white light shot up, followed by a violent explosion.
"Steppenwolf, after you die, remember to report back to your true body. We'll be meeting soon. At that time, I'll return the Mother Boxes to you. I keep my word."
Tony gave a strange smile, tinged with a hint of mockery. He felt no fear towards this god from Apokolips.
Bang!
The white light erupted once more, coalescing into a giant barrier that roared as it smashed towards Steppenwolf.
The entire chair began to tremble, pushing its power output to the absolute limit.
Rip!
A huge gash appeared on Steppenwolf's body. He was bleeding.
"You think *you* can kill me?" Steppenwolf sneered ferociously.
"Just me."
Tony sneered. Then, with a raise of his hand, the white light surged, pressing down like a mountain. Steppenwolf roared, raising his axe to block the curtain of white light.
Then, golden sparks flashed, and a mage in white robes stepped through.
Pure magic began to gather. The old mage chanted a spell, and a powerful wave of mystic energy illuminated the Dark Dimension.
At the same time, the old mage opened his palm, where the orange Soul Stone lay quietly.
