But it was still no use. Ego couldn't even figure out what was happening. Billions of zombies were just chasing him relentlessly—they couldn't be killed, couldn't be destroyed. Even a powerhouse as mighty as the level-seven Ego was utterly helpless.
Ego fled continuously, only to discover with dawning despair that the entire Prime Universe seemed to be suffering from a Black Lantern locust plague. These strange black rings were everywhere, and he would encounter them scattered about.
Finally, a single Black Lantern Ring broke through Ego's defense system. Mixed in with the billions of zombies, it made contact with Ego's body for the first time.
