Chapter 588: Changes in the Main Battle Legion!
As the saying goes, ten thousand people are boundless.
And the Soldiers of the Auxiliary Legion were facing thirty thousand Elite Infantry fully equipped with Armor, Shields, and Long Swords.
Although the Automatic Rifles loaded with Jet Bullets had considerable Power, basically one shot was enough to kill one person.
But facing the constantly surging sea of people, the endless rain of arrows falling from the sky, and the occasional Cannonballs, Flames, Gales, and earth spikes striking, they were still engaged in a difficult, bitter struggle.
Their fingers barely left the Trigger, and bright flames furiously erupted from their muzzles. Coupled with the limited heavy machine guns, mortars, and grenades at their Waists, they barely managed to prevent the enemy from approaching within fifty meters of the Defense Line.
However, the Alchemists within the enemy ranks actually began to create Stone Walls or Iron Walls on the spot, providing temporary defensive positions for the surrounding Infantry to catch their Breath.
It must be said, from this point alone, Alchemy is indeed quite convenient and effective.
The key is that besides the Stamina consumption from their activities, they have no other Energy consumption, because most Alchemy uses the Natural Energy generated by crustal movement.
The reason for saying 'most' is because Legend has it that Stigma Alchemists can guide the Power within the Gate of Truth, no longer needing to rely on the existence of Alchemy Arrays.
However, how exactly this works is not widely known, as there is currently only one Stigma Alchemist in the entire Alchemy Kingdom.
In short, Alchemists have no so-called 'Mana Restriction', only a 'Stamina Limit'.
"Although the Firearms of those Invaders are powerful, we can completely approach them through layers of Steel Walls!"
"The carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur beneath the Ground are inexhaustible, while the enemy's Ammunition is limited. They can't outlast us!"
"When their Ammunition is almost exhausted, it will be our turn to slaughter them with our Blades!"
A White Robed Alchemist who appeared older knelt on the Ground, pressing his palms firmly onto a Circular Formation emitting strands of Electro, constantly repairing the two layers of Steel Walls in front of him that had been damaged by the various Cannonballs.
Hundreds of Infantry around him listened silently to his loud declaration.
Previously, they had suffered heavy casualties from the Jet Bullets, and their Morale had naturally been severely impacted, as their Shields and Armor could no longer provide Safety.
Now, the Alchemists used their Ability to block all the Metal Jets, which caused the Infantry's Morale to quickly recover, and the fear on their faces gradually subsided.
Behind the lines.
When the Bow and Arrow users' arrows were about to be depleted, they saw a dozen nearby White Robed Alchemists use pens with caps on to draw circular Alchemy Arrays on the Ground.
When the dazzling Electric Flash dissipated, the originally flat Ground had sunken into large pits, and the pits were filled with Metal Arrows.
This is the Warfare Style of the Alchemy Civilization!
[Rumble rumble... Rumble rumble...]
Just then, the Alchemists and Infantry hiding behind the Steel Walls faintly heard strange rumbling sounds amidst the Gunfire.
At first, no one paid attention, but as the sound became more and more obvious, some people cautiously looked at the Situation behind the Steel Walls.
This sight caused their eyes to widen instantly.
"What is that?!"
More and more Alchemists and Infantry saw Black Soldiers riding Strange Machines charging through the gaps between the Black Trucks.
And the green-clad Soldiers who had been fighting them earlier were cheering excitedly and providing them with Fire Support. The most obvious change was that the already dense gunfire became even more frantic.
"Enemy Attack!"
"They want to engage us in Melee Combat?"
"Foolish!"
"Let them see what a Warrior truly is!"
The Infantry of the Alchemy Kingdom were not surprised but delighted. What they hated most was the enemy using various Ranged Attacks, so they were eager for someone to engage them in a satisfying Melee Combat.
This way, even if they died, they could die with Glory.
Immediately.
Some of the Infantry hiding behind the Steel Walls rushed out, yelling.
They saw the Black-Clad Soldiers riding the Mechanical Vehicles leap into the air mid-way, leaving the Mechanical Vehicles to drive on their own, knocking over Infantry who were caught off guard.
Then, taking advantage of this opportunity, they quickly approached from the air and launched their respective Offensives.
"Stone Breathing, Hasshoken!"
An Army Captain wearing a Black Gauntlet on his hand hadn't even landed yet when he heavily swung his fist towards the Shield of a Silver-Armored Infantry.
Instantly.
With a Loud Noise, as the Shield shattered from the point of contact, a Shockwave spread out, pushing away the other Infantry attempting to swing their Blades to attack.
"First Meat!"
"Chest Meat!"
Another Army Major wearing a Black Coat first kicked three Infantry away before landing, then with a spinning sweep kick, he viciously kicked out four more Infantry.
These Infantry, spitting blood and flying horizontally, consequently knocked over several Infantry behind them.
Interestingly.
Every kick from this Army Major would generate raging Flames.
This was a combination of Flame Breathing and Red Leg Kick Technique, even incorporating some Iron Mass Fist Art Techniques, making his Legs incredibly hard.
In an instant.
These Captains and Soldiers of Charlotte Oven's Division, upon breaking into the Alchemy side's Military Formation, unleashed powerful Techniques based on different Styles of Breathing Style, combined with their respective Fist Arts or Swordsmanship.
Not only Hasshoken, Red Leg Kick Technique, Fish-Man Karate, Fish-Man Judo, and their respective Sword Techniques, but even Six Powers were used by some Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.
This is because Breathing Style, even if it hasn't reached the realm of Constant Concentration (maintaining it constantly), can explosively enhance Physical Ability.
At this point, they often reached the conditions necessary to use Six Powers.
Especially Shave and Iron Body, these relatively simple Martial Arts, had become easier for lower-level Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers to master with the enhancement of Breathing Style.
This brought extremely terrifying consequences for the basic White Robed Alchemists, as they found it difficult for the surrounding Infantry to protect themselves anymore.
On the Battlefield, Officers in Black Coats constantly appeared, either forcefully breaking through or using Moonwalk, Shave, and other methods to successfully approach the Alchemists and slaughter them.
Although Alchemists possessed Supernatural Ability, when it came to Battlefield combat, it was difficult for them to compare with these Elite Warriors of the Main Battle Legion who had competed their way up from the millions in the Army Headquarters.
Basically, once they got close, the former had little power to resist.
The latter's only problem was probably the insufficient number, but with the various Fire Support from the Auxiliary Legion, they didn't need to worry about that.
"Imperial Arms User?"
"Are every single one of them an Imperial Arms User comparable to a Lord Knight and an Alchemist?"
The Alchemists and Infantry who hadn't yet engaged in combat at the rear were dumbfounded.
The sudden appearance of so many Warriors capable of using various Supernatural Powers reminded them of the Imperial Fist Temple Disciples, Beastman Squad, and the Higher-ups with Imperial Arms and Ministerial Arms from The Empire's side.
But those numbered at most a few thousand, while the increasing number of Black-Clad Warriors before them were estimated to have already exceeded five thousand, and looking into the distance, large numbers of people were still charging over riding those Mechanical Vehicles.
In this Situation, Their nearly thirty thousand strong Infantry Large Army and the Alchemists at the front were suffering a visible, bloody Massacre!
I saw a suggestion from some Readers about a duel between Admirals and a King vs King scenario, but after discussing it with the Readers in the group chat, I still feel that World War should be a collective Matter.
From Officers to Captains, and then to Admirals, there should be a comprehensive description, rather than directly bringing up the Higher-ups from both sides for a Duel and directly deciding the Fate of a World.
Moreover, through this kind of large-scale bottom-level War scene, everyone can intuitively feel the various changes on the World side.
For example, you will know the popularity and usage Effect of Breathing Style, Hasshoken, Red Leg Kick Technique, and Fish-Man Karate within the Military.
In my opinion, this is inherently a very interesting Matter.
I want to create a World Government with Flesh and Blood, not just a small Organization workshop named World Government where only a group of Higher-ups steal the spotlight.
There will definitely be scenes where Admirals make their move later, but it must also increase with the intensity of the War. I will speed up the Plot Pace, but I will not skip Content that I feel is necessary.
I learned a lesson in this regard when I was writing the Titan Arc before, so I won't make the same mistake a second time.
You say I'm slow, dragging things out, but the truth is I want to write too many things.
And think about it, is it really slow?
Conquering a World in less than a year, according to real-world logic, isn't that incredibly fast?
If, on top of this, it has to be faster, faster, faster...
Then what am I writing about?
