Chapter 250: Battlefield of Billions
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Under the shocked gazes of the people, two boundless war torrents brutally collided.
The boundless Dark Dimension became the ideal battlefield for a war of countless legions.
There were no rules, no humanity, no mercy—only blood, slaughter, and extinction.
The winning side gained everything; the losing side lost it all.
Thirty million Transformers, equipped with powerful weapons, successively engaged in battle with the Mindless Ones and Dormammu's lackeys. Cannon fire and magic interwove, metal and darkness collided, and every single second saw ferocious battles erupt, with both sides suffering heavy casualties.
Tony had prepared extensively for his legion. There were tough, heavily armored melee units wielding cold weapons, as well as specialized long-range bombardment units. He had tried his best to equip them with warriors of every type possible.
This region had become the cruelest of meat grinders. The cold Transformers battled countless Mindless Ones, neither side paying any heed to their losses, everything focused solely on killing the enemy.
From time to time, a Transformer would fall, followed by a violent explosion.
"What the hell did you put inside your army?" Quicksilver shouted to Tony, having just knocked down a few stray Mindless Ones and nearly getting caught in a blast.
"I've placed a high-explosive bomb inside every single Transformer," Tony said, his face expressionless. "Also, you'd better conserve your strength. This war is going to last for a very, very long time, until the Ancient One and Dormammu have a victor. If you act recklessly, I might not be able to save you in time."
"I'm not an idiot. Besides those few up front, do you see anyone else really going all out?" Quicksilver retorted, gesturing casually towards the frontline battle.
Up ahead, one could see melee fighters like Logan, Diana, Victor, Juggernaut, Sabretooth, and Ghost Rider battling the Mindless Ones. The rest intentionally stayed around Tony, keeping a close watch on the battlefield.
Professor X wanted to use his psychic power to affect the Mindless Ones on a large scale, but Tony stopped him. "Professor, now is not the time to go all out. Conserve some energy."
Azazel of the Brotherhood of Mutants hid behind the crowd, squinting at the intense battle. While everyone else wore expressions of tension and concern, he feigned attentiveness, but in reality, a cold indifference swirled in the depths of his eyes.
Azazel had lived for several thousand years. Very few knew his origins, and he was confident no one could ever find out.
Unfortunately for him, Tony knew his origins and purpose crystal clear.
He had stressed more than once that this battle was to purge the malignancy from Earth, but it was hard to say just how many people understood the true meaning of "malignancy."
The perpetually silent Ancient One suddenly looked up. She had found Dormammu's location.
"I've found Dormammu. I'll leave this place to you." The Ancient One's face was utterly serene, yet like a calm sea before a tempest, it held a chilling coldness that made one's heart palpitate.
With that, she opened a portal and slowly stepped through it.
"I'll go help you!" Magik, also known as Liana, the queen of Hell's Border, suddenly declared. "Last time that guy Dormammu invaded my Hell's Border, I haven't settled that score yet."
The Ancient One did not look back, her figure vanishing within the portal.
Liana was about to follow when she was blocked by Grimlock, who stood beside Tony. A roar from the Dinobot stopped her in her tracks.
"It's not necessary. The Ancient One has more than enough help. She doesn't need assistance from a demigod-level combatant just yet," Tony said faintly.
"What did you say?! Are you calling me weak?" Queen Liana flew into a rage on the spot. Her immense pride would not allow anyone to question the power she was most proud of. "When I was fighting for my life against all sorts of interdimensional beings, you were still a baby suckling on milk somewhere, you little brat!"
"You're not much older than I am. Besides, I planned this war. I know some hidden things that you don't. Now is not the time for you to interfere. You should be the one to deliver the fatal blow to Dormammu at the most critical moment," Tony replied without turning his head.
Liana gritted her teeth in frustration. She was about to erupt, but Wanda held her back.
"He's always like that, so annoying," Wanda whispered, her beautiful eyes stealing a glance at Tony's back.
It was an ordinary back, nothing remarkable about it. Yet this was the man who had single-handedly orchestrated a world-class war to besiege a Dark Lord.
Wanda looked at the brutal battlefield ahead, where colossal figures fell with every passing moment. From her initial trepidation to her gradual acclimation now, the more she experienced a war of this magnitude, the more she realized just how insane this idea and undertaking truly was.
Only by seeing it with one's own eyes could one understand that some things were far from as simple and mundane as others made them sound.
This was a cruel war between two worlds, and the losing side would lose everything.
"But what gives him such confidence? Is the Ancient One certain to kill Dormammu?" Wanda's confusion was shared by many others.
But Tony had faith in himself—or rather, he had faith in the Ancient One.
The brutal battle raged on. In the beginning, Tony's massive legion held a firm upper hand, thanks to their advantages in numbers and coordination, and they unleashed a devastating slaughter upon the enemy.
But as time went on, the number of Mindless Ones grew larger and more staggering. As of now, over twenty million Mindless Ones had been summoned.
The cost of summoning Mindless Ones in the Dark Dimension was too low—so low that Kaecilius could effortlessly raise a massive army of them, though he couldn't control them and could only let them act on their own accord.
But their boundless, massive numbers were enough to slowly grind away Tony's side's advantage.
The scale of the war gradually expanded, with the number of combatants now exceeding sixty million. In just a few short hours, four million Transformers had fallen in this world, while over ten million enemies had been slain.
But Tony didn't care in the slightest.
Even as the tide of war slowly began to shift in the enemy's favor, he remained completely unfazed.
"We can't keep fighting like this. This horde of Mindless Ones is endless. They have an entire world as their base of operations," Mordo said, approaching Tony with some anxiety.
Regardless of anything else, Tony was the commander on their side. There was no election; even the Ancient One had acknowledged him, so they had no reason to question him.
The tens of millions of Transformers were Tony's war constructs, controlled by him alone.
"They have a world to back them up. You think we don't?" Tony was very calm, looking not the least bit worried.
The people surrounding him—or rather, protecting him—wore stunned expressions.
Zheng Xian, Director of S.P.E.A.R., broke into a wide grin. "The World Security Council on Earth has been preparing all this time. We're all protecting the world, so why should some fight to the death on the front lines while they get to sit back and do nothing?"
