Chapter 251: Wizard Shazam (5/5)
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
The diminutive figure of the Ancient One emerged from the portal, fearless, gazing up at the planet-sized Dormammu.
"Dormammu, I have come, just as you expected." A large, eerie black rune slowly materialized on the Ancient One's forehead.
Even more horrifying, the ambient dark power within this dark dimension was actually being absorbed by the Ancient One, bit by bit, and her aura began to grow stronger.
"You've come again! You are always so hypocritical and shameless!" Dormammu roared with laughter, his moon-sized eyes narrowing to a slit. "Stealing my power, only to use it against me?"
Dormammu suddenly lowered his head, his colossal form bringing with it an indescribable sense of oppression. He leaned in, looking at the ant-like Ancient One, whose tiny body radiated an astonishing pressure.
"Ancient One, it is only through my boon that you have lived for so long. Today, you will repay everything you owe me—with your life! You should have died long ago. If not for me, you wouldn't have lived to this day!" Dormammu's words were filled with a dangerous aura and chilling killing intent.
The Ancient One's own killing intent was even stronger.
"The dark power is not yours, nor do you represent it," the Ancient One said faintly. She raised her hands, and a massive stream of magic flowed forth. Her tiny figure unleashed a terrifying magic power capable of blasting Dormammu's head clean off!
Roar!
Dormammu bellowed in rage, indifferently wiping at the wound on his face. The omnipresent dark power instantly swarmed over, covering and repairing the damage.
"Ancient One! You despicable thief!" Dormammu roared, casually manipulating the space around them. A vast number of meteors, wreathed in eerie green flames, fell from immense heights, whistling as they descended in a dense barrage toward the Ancient One on the ground.
Dormammu was cautious, not underestimating his opponent. He knew better than anyone what kind of person the Ancient One was: cunning, ruthless, iron-willed, and even willing to resort to any means necessary!
Otherwise, why would she take such a huge risk, betraying the sacred rules of Kamar-Taj to secretly absorb dark power? Was it because she feared death?
No, the Ancient One did not fear death. It was just that Earth, at the time, completely lacked a Level Seven combat power capable of suppressing everything! She had to do it! If she didn't try every method to extend her life, Earth would likely be finished after she died of old age!
Without the Ancient One, who would fend off the various pantheons eyeing Earth like tigers? Who would resist invaders from other dimensions like Dormammu? Who would maintain stability on Earth itself?
No one. For the past several hundred years on Earth, besides the Ancient One, there had been no other suitable candidate.
This was no longer a matter of what the Ancient One wanted; the situation had forced her hand! She had to steal dark power to prolong her life!
The Ancient One tilted her head up slightly, looking at the countless meteors descending with a grim aura. Her face showed no emotion. Without any visible action, the mystic energy throughout her body began to tremble. From within her, identical meteors manifested, growing from small to large, soaring up to meet Dormammu's meteors head-on!
Rumble!
It was as if the world itself was beginning to collapse. Countless meteors collided with one another, creating violent explosions. Then, at speeds dozens of times the speed of sound, the giant, shattered rock fragments scattered in every direction.
"Mirror magic..." Dormammu remarked with a click of his tongue. "You're still as lazy as ever. You know, what I hate most is the mirror magic you developed. Whether it's the mirror dimension or anything else, this ability to replicate reality is truly detestable... Not only do you steal my power, but you also use my magic to humiliate me."
"You think too highly of yourself." The Ancient One stood perfectly still, not having moved a single step from the very beginning. Her calm demeanor only served to irritate Dormammu further.
Violent explosions continued to detonate in the sky not far above her. From time to time, fractured meteors would rain down, any single one of which could cause a catastrophe no less terrible than an asteroid impact.
Yet, the immense shockwave from each falling meteor failed to cause the slightest change in the Sorcerer Supreme's expression. A biting gale howled as if weeping, causing the Ancient One's spotless white robes to rustle.
In this dark world, the Ancient One stood her ground. She needed only to stand there to be the center of the world.
Dormammu grew even more suspicious. "Where did you get this confidence? In the past, you could only barely hold on by relying on Earth's magic formations. Who gave you the courage to step into my dark dimension?"
"I've told you, you think too highly of yourself. In the past, if your true form had dared to take a single step out of the dark dimension, I would have killed you long ago," the Ancient One said with a faint smile.
This sudden, gentle smile was a greater mockery than any curse.
Before occupying the dark dimension, Dormammu was, at best, a level six. He only ascended to level seven after becoming the master of the dark dimension. If he were foolish enough to leave the dark dimension, even with all the years he had spent refining his magic power, he would be a weak level seven at most. If his true form came to Earth, he would most certainly be killed by the Ancient One wielding the Time Stone.
The Time Stone was useless against the dark dimension, which transcended time, but if Dormammu were to willingly come out to seek death, it would be remarkably effective.
It was the dark dimension itself that was beyond time, not Dormammu himself.
Dormammu wasted no more words. He began to channel the power of the entire dimension to seize this opportunity and kill the Sorcerer Supreme once and for all! No matter what scheme the Ancient One had, he refused to believe she could resist the power of an entire dimension!
The Dark Lord was enraged, and the dark dimension began to shift. In every sliver of space, the dark magic power started to undergo subtle changes. Under Dormammu's control, it was as if the entire world began to reject the Ancient One.
Entire continents began to roil, and every grain of sand and stone became imbued with immense dark power, emitting a jet-black glow. In the sky, dormant planets began to stir, transforming into powerful weapons that let out low growls as they slowly accelerated toward the Ancient One's position.
On a level seven battlefield, galaxies could be annihilated with a casual gesture. The term "Star-Destroying" could not even begin to describe their destructive power.
The Ancient One waved her hand, activating a massive space magic that casually sliced apart several descending planets, revealing their long-dead cores. There was no brilliant magma or anything else, only desolation.
"I've been waiting all this time. If you don't make your move soon, I'm going to get angry," the Ancient One said suddenly, looking up.
As soon as her words fell, a type of magic different from that of Kamar-Taj slowly unfurled, revealing a remote corner of another world.
In an ancient, grand hall, an old man sat silently on his throne, a staff in his hand. He lifted his head slightly; his disheveled white hair covered most of his face, but it could not hide his sorrow-filled eyes.
"Who are you?" Dormammu was shocked. He hadn't detected the slightest trace of this old man's aura. The great hall was clearly protected by powerful perception-blocking magic.
This was terrifying. It was normal for him not to have sensed the man before, as they were not in the same dimension. But now that a connection to the dark dimension had been established, even face to face, he could only barely perceive the man's unique magic power.
"Me? I am just a worn-out old man who has been forgotten for thousands of years." The old man let out a strained cough. "In my era, people used to call me—the Wizard Shazam!"
