Chapter 301

Chapter 293: Chomp chomp, delicious!

Krypto was furious. As a Kryptonian with superior genes, no one besides Jor-El had ever dared to hold him like this.

Forget about frail humans from Earth—even on Krypton, under the oppressive shroud of the apocalyptic Red Sun, the Kryptonians’ bodies were significantly weakened, yet their physical stats were still far superior to even the strongest human on Earth.

The vast majority of those robust Kryptonians couldn't withstand a casual pounce from him.

The Kryptonian dog opened its mouth wide, baring a mouthful of ferocious teeth, intending to let out a roar to intimidate this foolish female creature.

"Woof! Woof woof woof!!!"

Wanda, ever so thoughtful, stuffed a second sausage into the dog's mouth while vigorously petting its head.

"Wow, your fur is so soft. But why is it so wet? Did someone splash you with water? You poor little thing..."

"*Chomp chomp*, Woof! (Delicious!)"

The Kryptonian dog let out a threatening bark, then blissfully ate the sausage.

The proud Kryptonian dog's perception of this female creature gained a sliver of approval, but becoming her pet?

Impossible.

He would never be her pet in this lifetime. He was on Earth to find the descendant of Jor-El and become *his* pet.

Krypto is the pet of the House of El, not the pet of tony's Family.

He tried to struggle, but Wanda held him down effortlessly. "Don't move, be good. I'll give you a bath when we get back."

That casual pat pressed him firmly into her arms, much to his frustration.

He sensed a terrifying threat from Wanda.

This wasn't just a figure of speech; it was a real, needle-prick-like threat. The Chaos Magic within Wanda constantly flowed through her body. Holding the Kryptonian dog at such a close distance, her brewing Mystic Energy exerted immense pressure on the cells in his body.

A massive amount of energy was draining away every second.

Fortunately, Mystic Energy wasn't Kryptonite. It only weakened his cells; it didn't kill them in large numbers.

However, this also made him incredibly fragile, as vulnerable as any other dog on Earth.

Krypto let out a howl toward the sky, filled with indignation and rage. Then, he settled peacefully in Wanda's arms, enjoying his dog's life.

His tail began to wag furiously, then abruptly stopped.

"What a strange doggy," Wanda mumbled, looking down at the little white dog in confusion. But she didn't dwell on it, simply assuming the little dog was tired and lacked energy.

"When Tony gets back and sees a new little white dog in the house, he'll be happy too, right?"

Wanda happily nuzzled her face against the little white dog, giddy as she waited for her man to return. She wasn't worried about Tony being in danger. With Dormammu as his servant and the Time Stone as his weapon, he could make a clean getaway even in the worst-case scenario.

As for her, she just needed to wait quietly at home for Tony's return.

At some unknown thought, the corners of Wanda's mouth curled up, and an intoxicating blush appeared on her cheeks.

Hiding silently among the crowd, the Super Soldiers faithfully carried out their duties, their discreet gazes scanning every person on the street.

Every one of these Super Soldiers from A.R.G.U.S. had been injected with the latest research product—a new development combining the Dionysus Factor and the Captain America Serum. It allowed them to retain their regeneration while possessing superhuman physical attributes.

Moreover, these soldiers had undergone harsh, brutal training. Each one was a formidable and loyal master of combat and firearms, capable of handling most emergencies.

Cradling the dog, Wanda made her way back to tony's Manor. Vets and pet care specialists were already prepared, greeting her the moment she arrived to run precise tests on the unfamiliar little white dog.

"Miss Wanda, this dog is very healthy. In fact, he's so healthy it's almost unnatural," a medical staff member reported with a smile.

"That's wonderful! From this day on, this doggy is the Manor Guardian Beast of tony's Manor!" Wanda announced loudly.

Everyone smiled, looking at their joyous mistress.

But the moment the medical staff turned away, their smiles faded. Several of them exchanged covert glances. After leaving Wanda's presence, they immediately pressed a button to report the situation to a higher authority.

"What is it? When you press this button, you should understand that unless it's a major emergency, you will face severe punishment."

"There's something wrong with that dog. Something very wrong," the lead medical staff member said in a low voice. "According to Mr. Tony's instructions, this matter is serious enough to warrant mobilizing A.R.G.U.S.'s resources to investigate."

"What are the specifics?" On the other end, Crane paused his work and asked.

"Miss Wanda brought back a little white dog. We ran precise tests and discovered it's no ordinary dog at all. Its muscle density is terrifyingly high, and the activity of its blood cells is terrifyingly high. An ordinary human's cells are like hot water, whereas that dog's are like a volcano. But for some reason, their active frequency is very low."

"This is clearly a genetically engineered creature from some organization. A normal stray dog could never have such a powerful body."

The medic recalled the scene of trying to give the dog an injection. He had to use all his strength just to get the needle in, and it was highly likely the dog had deliberately relaxed its muscles.

Keep in mind, this medic was also an augmented soldier, yet he almost couldn't even pierce a dog's skin...

That was a major problem.

Crane was silent for a moment, then rubbed his forehead. "I understand. Don't alert the dog. All of you act as if nothing happened. Find an excuse to quarantine the dog, in case it harms Wanda."

After hanging up, Crane dialed another number, ordering the people on the other end to thoroughly investigate the little white dog's origins.

"I don't care which organization it is, investigate them relentlessly! It seems the piles of bodies surrounding tony's Manor weren't enough to make those bastards rein it in. Whoever they are, they will pay the price!" Crane said before hanging up coldly.

The leader of A.R.G.U.S. had a grim expression, his hands clasped together.

"What's wrong? Run into some trouble?"

Sitting across from Crane was a tall woman.

She had long, raven-black hair that reached her waist and wore a black overcoat. She spoke to the increasingly authoritative Crane in a casual tone, as if catching up with an old friend.

"Sandra, you shouldn't have come to see me," Crane sighed.

The long-haired woman's brow furrowed imperceptibly, clearly dissatisfied with Crane's response. She raised a calloused hand and, through the air, pointed at Crane's forehead as if aiming a gun at his head.

"It seems your status as the leader of A.R.G.U.S. has made you get ahead of yourself. You've forgotten where you came from, forgotten your background."

"You came from that place. For the rest of your life, you will bear the organization's mark. You can never hope to escape it."

"Scarecrow, don't you forget. You are a member of the League of Shadows. You were, you are, and you always will be!"
