Chapter 358: The Anguished Raven

Author: Great Demon Spirit

"So annoying, damn it all, you guys are truly unwelcome; that interesting person was indeed right, and I was right to give him that little treasure. All you CPs are utterly exasperating."

Deadpool looked down. Joker had stabbed him so many times, yet his stomach was completely fine. The Joker couldn't even break through the defenses of this black suit.

Indeed, a small knife would have a hard time piercing the Symbiote Suit's defenses.

The Joker, however, paid it no mind, stubbornly stabbing away until the Symbiote Suit grew impatient. A black, liquid-like substance shot out, grabbed the small knife, and snapped it with a gentle twist.

Holding the remaining half of the knife, the Joker brought it close to his eyes for a look, then glanced around before turning back, his face full of surprise. He seemed incredibly curious about how the knife had broken. He casually tossed the broken blade to the floor, scratched his messy hair, and promptly plopped down on the table.

"I like your suit," the Joker said suddenly, licking his lips.

Deadpool, however, tugged at it with some disgust, trying to smooth out non-existent wrinkles. "But I don't really like it," he said. "Ever since this thing pounced on me, there's been another voice in my head, telling me to do this and that. It's so annoying. I already have enough voices in my head, and now there's one more. They're always telling me what I should do, ordering me around."

"Isn't that perfectly normal? You can't even be sure your brain is *your* brain," the Joker mumbled, rolling his eyes. He suddenly burst out laughing. "We have a guest. Should we kill her?"

Deadpool tilted his head and thought for a moment before refusing. "Listen to me, buddy. We can't kill this one, or we'll both be in deep trouble."

...

A figure completely cloaked in a black robe walked quietly through a secluded alley.

She was a very petite young girl, and the oversized black robe made her look like a frightened little quail that had been bullied.

Raven had changed her appearance. Here on Earth, she didn't dare reveal her true form with its four scarlet eyes. Instead, she presented herself with a human appearance, one that mimicked her mother's.

But little Raven's mood was extremely low.

She had secretly come to Earth to see her mother's homeland with her own eyes. Her mother, Arella, a gentle soul, had once told her that Gotham City on Earth was her home.

This place, how should she put it... it was a far cry from the Agalas Sanctuary. Compared to the Sorcerers in the Sanctuary, the people here had such complex hearts, where good and evil coexisted.

Of course, Raven had a second objective. She had come to Earth to find allies and reinforcements.

The Universe acknowledged two great Sacred Lands of Magic: the Agalas Sanctuary and Kamar-Taj. If she could get these two holy places to join forces once more, perhaps they could actually kill Trigon.

At least, that's what Raven believed. She had no idea just how terrifying a Being her father was, nor did she know anything about the vastness and dangers of the Sphere of the Gods.

But after arriving on Earth, she discovered to her dismay that the people here knew nothing about Kamar-Taj. She had knocked out one office worker after another, using Mind Magic to interrogate them for information on Kamar-Taj. It would be a miracle if she could get any real answers that way.

So, the little girl, who didn't quite understand the ways of the world, settled for the next best thing: she would try to gather a team of her own to return with her to the Agalas Sanctuary to fight the demons.

Although the Agalas Sanctuary was powerful, if she could bring back a group of supernatural beings, surely the Sorcerers would be pleased, right?

Perhaps she could find a powerful Sorcerer to defeat Trigon.

"I don't get it, I always have a bad feeling..." As Raven walked, she frowned once again. Her naturally strong sixth sense was warning her again.

In the unseen world, a pair of malicious eyes had already locked onto her.

They were the eyes of Trigon.

This gave Raven an even greater sense of pressure. She had to find powerful companions as quickly as possible and return to the Agalas Sanctuary with them.

Her powerful sixth sense told her that with the strength of the Agalas Sanctuary alone, even if they could fight her father, their losses would be catastrophic. She didn't want to see that sacred and beautiful place covered in corpses.

This was despite the fact that the Sorcerers of the Agalas Sanctuary were full of confidence in the upcoming Purification Ritual, repeatedly stressing that it would resolve the demonic bloodline within her in one fell swoop and shield her from Trigon's tracking.

If she could bring back people strong enough to help, that would be a good thing, wouldn't it?

That was what the naive Raven thought.

Although in Tony's view, this was completely useless. Forget finding some Superhumans; even if Tony himself went, he'd be brought to his knees in an instant.

After all, that was... Trigon!

A born Singularity, a Level Eight Archdemon, Trigon!

But Raven didn't understand any of this. Singularity, Level Eight, Sphere of the Gods—she was ignorant of it all. Her mother had died young, and being of ordinary origin, she hadn't understood these things either. Trigon certainly had no interest in telling her.

If Trigon hadn't suddenly discovered that this daughter he'd picked up for cheap possessed terrifying talent and could become a formidable demonic general under his command, he would have eaten her like a snack.

Sons and daughters were things the immortal Trigon never lacked. Over the long eons, who knows how many times the Multiverse had been destroyed and experienced a Reboot. Time itself was a false proposition for a Singularity. Even if billions of years passed in the Multiverse, in Trigon's eyes, it was no different from a single second. In that way, he could have sired far too many descendants.

But very few were worthy of standing by his side. Now, Raven could be one more.

Raven didn't understand these complex matters. Full of anticipation, she walked the streets of Gotham City and pushed open a door, intending to recruit a certain someone she had just located with her Magic.

"That guy wearing the black Symbiotic Material... he's very interesting. There are some things about him that even I can't figure out," Raven murmured, her eyes shining with a brilliant light. "Perhaps, this person could help her?"

Her aptitude for Magic was terrifying. From the moment of her birth, she surpassed the vast majority of hardworking and diligent Sorcerers. With a Level Eight father, it was impossible for her to be weak.

But when Raven pushed open the door, she saw only an empty room.

Once again, Raven sighed deeply, her childlike voice filled with deep disappointment and anguish.

It was happening again. This wasn't the first time. She had been hunted many times in this city simply because of the demonic Aura she couldn't conceal. She could even name a few of them now, like Constantine, like Zatanna.

She was never even given a chance to explain herself. She could only act like an ostrich, doing her best to bury her head in the sand, ignoring the attacks of those who wished her harm.

She would either run away or stay put and take the beating. Only when they were tired of hitting her would she quietly leave. This was how Raven had been living these days. No matter what she said, no one would believe her.

Everyone treated her like a terrifying demon who wished ill upon the Earth.
