Chapter 369

“On this Earth, there really aren't that many powerful people...”

To be honest, Raven was very disappointed. In the Cosmos, Earth had a very prominent reputation. Any civilization or faction with even a bit of renown knew that Earth's two Sorcerer Supremes were formidable characters.

Dormammu had rampaged across the Cosmos for so many years, only to end up losing himself in the process, becoming a cosmic laughingstock, which filled many cosmic beings with reverence and apprehension. Even though Tony had never truly set foot in the Cosmos, his great name had long since spread throughout the Cosmos.

Coming to Earth this time, Raven had originally been full of hope, but reality had been a great disappointment.

The inhabitants were numerous but generally incredibly weak. While there might be many super-powered individuals, very few could meet her standards. No matter how she looked at it, it was a far cry from the Agalas Sanctuary.

She had finally found one person who interested her, but he had run off beforehand, avoiding her.

“That guy just now wearing the Symbiote Suit clearly has the ability to traverse Dimensions...” Raven murmured to herself, feeling very regretful.

Deadpool's special nature had already been detected by Raven, whose own attainments in magic were terrifyingly high. However, the other party clearly didn't want to interact with her, so there was nothing she could do. What was the point of chasing after him?

*Crash!*

The window suddenly shattered as a figure charged in, immediately followed by a fierce magical attack.

This magical attack formed a net-like structure, woven into the shape of some kind of animal, and rushed toward the petite Raven.

Raven tilted her head and sighed, showing no intention of dodging or counter-attacking. She just stood there blankly, watching the other person's magic slam into her.

But with a soft sound, the magic failed to produce any damaging effect. Upon striking Raven, it simply dissipated.

“I told you before, your level of magic is too poor to have any effect on me... Last time, you attacked me nonstop for five minutes. This time, how long can you last?”

Raven lifted her cowl, revealing a delicate and youthful face. Her small face was scrunched up, filled with a sense of grievance.

But the newcomer was infuriated, feeling an immense sense of defeat when facing the same demon again.

“I remember, your name is Zatanna, right? The one who claims to be from a family of sorcerers?” Raven thought for a moment, then patted her head as if in sudden realization.

Zatanna had a bewitching appearance and waist-length black hair, but at this moment, she was gritting her teeth, her whole body trembling with anger.

Zatanna came from a family of sorcerers and had received profound magical instruction since childhood, making her far more prideful than the average person. But in front of Raven, this pride had been utterly crushed.

The spells she was so proud of were like child's play before Raven, utterly worthless. Even when Raven stood there passively taking the hits, Zatanna was unable to leave a single wound on her with magic.

After all, Raven was a direct descendant of Trigon, and her natural magic resistance was terrifyingly high.

As the two women faced off in the cramped room, an untimely knock sounded at the door, and Constantine's deep voice drifted in.

“Then I'm coming in?”

Though he said this, he didn't hold back at all. He pushed the door open and walked right in. He looked at Zatanna, then at Raven, his face gloomy and full of helplessness.

Con scratched his messy hair, took out a cigarette, and took an intoxicated drag. Then, right in front of his new friend Zatanna, he handed it to Raven. “Smoke?”

Zatanna: "..."

Raven: "..."

Raven paused for a moment, then curiously took the cigarette and sniffed it. Her small face wrinkled up in disgust, but seemingly to maintain politeness, she steeled herself and stuck the cigarette in her mouth.

*Chew, chew.*

“This tastes awful...”

“You're not supposed to eat it... never mind, just eat it then.”

Constantine shrugged noncommittally, guessing that a demon eating a cigarette probably wouldn't cause any adverse reactions. He took out a second cigarette, but just as he was about to light it, Zatanna snatched it from his hand and threw it viciously to the ground.

“What are you doing? You're the Hell Detective, yet you're ignoring the demon right in front of you?!” Zatanna yelled, suppressing her rage.

This gave Constantine an even bigger headache. He glanced reluctantly at the cigarette on the floor and said, “Easy, Zatanna. I know your family taught you to be wary of all demons, but trust me, this particular demon might actually be different...”

“I'm not a demon, I'm human!” Raven, provoked by being called a demon over and over, was like a bristling kitten. She put on a ferocious expression, baring her teeth and claws. “My mother was human, a born and raised Gothamite!”

“Silence! The incredibly dense demonic aura on you can't lie!” Zatanna gritted her teeth and tried to use a hypnosis spell to incapacitate Raven, but it had no effect at all.

This made Zatanna even more disheartened, her self-esteem taking a massive blow.

On Earth, there had always been magical traditions of all sizes. Zatanna hailed from a powerful magical family. Under the tutelage of her father, the renowned sorcerer Zatara, she had inherited her family's powerful magic and their hatred for demons.

Yet, a pure-blooded demon was standing brazenly before her, and she was completely helpless.

Constantine, making himself at home, hesitated for a moment before walking over and pulling Zatanna into his arms. He comforted her, “Don't worry, I'm the Hell Detective. I specialize in dealing with demons. This little girl is just...”

Zatanna's response was a shoulder throw.

“I'm warning you, we haven't officially started anything. Keep your hands to yourself!” Zatanna warned in a low voice, her face slightly flushed.

That's right, between Zatanna and Constantine, the future founders of the Justice League Dark, a subtle affection had indeed sparked since they first met.

“I thought we had officially started...” Constantine grinned as he climbed up from the floor, patting the dust off his clothes before turning his gaze to Raven.

“Alright then, let's deal with your problem first... You said you came to Earth to find some companions?”

“Yes, I want to bring them back with me to Agalas Sanctuary,” Raven said quickly, adding, “If you're willing, I can take you to Agalas Sanctuary too.”

Before Zatanna could scoff, Constantine spoke first, “Agalas Sanctuary? Why would they let you in?”

“They just do. They're all good people,” Raven said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Constantine's brow furrowed tightly. He was in a bind.

What was this annoying feeling? How could that be so matter-of-fact? Shouldn't the Agalas Sanctuary be mortal enemies with demons?

At the side, Zatanna crossed her arms and sneered repeatedly.

The Agalas Sanctuary would allow a demon inside? Ridiculous!

“Alright, alright, Miss Raven. Even if what you say is true, no one will believe you. And since we can't deal with you, I've already found someone else to handle your problem. After all, your unauthorized entry to Earth has seriously crossed his personal boundary... Okay, he's here... He actually came in person...”
