Chapter 408

Chapter 398: Atlantis and the Submerged Continent

The entire Atlantic Ocean had descended into a state of utter frenzy.

Endless ocean waves surged madly upward, and monstrous waves that blotted out the sky were everywhere. The sky was obscured by thick clouds, casting a gloomy darkness that blocked out the sunlight. Only on the ocean's surface could one see the colossal waves that rose from the depths time and time again, crashing toward the shore.

Viewed from the sky, it was as if the entire Atlantic Ocean was being stirred by some giant hand, becoming incomparably violent and insane.

The cities on both shores of the Atlantic were the first to suffer. Waves hundreds of meters high roared and rolled in, toppling one skyscraper after another, sweeping countless people into the ocean to meet their doom.

Those proud buildings, the peaceful lives of neon lights and fine wine, those picture-perfect families—in an instant, they all collapsed, washed away by the giant waves.

In an extremely short period, millions were swept away by the ocean, killed outright.

This was not a natural disaster; it was a man-made one!

The meteorological bureaus had not detected any massive storm cells or anything similar, yet the entire Atlantic had suddenly turned violent, with all its water surging toward the land!

Low-lying countries like the Netherlands and Denmark, which rely on sea walls to hold back the ocean, were swallowed by the waves in just over ten minutes. Most of their land was completely submerged, and what little territory remained was soaked in seawater.

"Why would this kind of extreme weather suddenly appear in the Atlantic?"

"The weather bureau couldn't find any giant typhoons... No, they found them! Countless typhoons have appeared out of nowhere! They're right behind the giant waves, pushing them forward!"

"Evacuate the civilians immediately, save as many as you can!"

"Go find the Avengers, have them investigate the cause!"

"Find a way to relocate the populace!"

"Could it be Magneto? His Brotherhood of Mutants headquarters is located on the Atlantic Ocean..."

The entire world was in chaos. Experts and scholars from all fields proposed numerous hypotheses in an attempt to explain this supernatural phenomenon, but none of it was of any use.

No one was a fool. Even if they couldn't figure it out immediately, they would eventually. This was clearly the result of a supernatural power.

A supernatural power capable of throwing the entire Atlantic Ocean into a frenzy and submerging the land? Was it a superhuman or some kind of supernatural artifact?

New York City.

As the giant waves struck, countless people screamed and fled.

Ironically, the giant display screen in a New York square was broadcasting images of New York City being submerged.

"No, no! Save me!"

A civilian, terrified, sat paralyzed on the ground, numbly watching the hundred-meter-tall wave that was nearly upon him.

The terrifying, overwhelming scene was like the end of the world.

A transparent red barrier suddenly appeared in front of the civilian, then expanded frantically in all directions, eventually becoming a semi-transparent red wall two hundred meters high and a thousand meters long.

Scarlet Witch Wanda stood on Central Avenue, her hands slightly raised, unleashing her formidable Chaos Magic to create a temporary magical barrier, blocking the invading seawater.

"What in the world is happening in the Atlantic? Does Atlantis want to declare war on the surface world?!"

Behind Wanda, Betty, transformed into Red She-Hulk, had a furious expression, her bulging muscles terrifying to behold.

Max, Illyana, and others stood nearby, their brows furrowed as they watched the apocalyptic scene.

They were well aware of the existence of Atlantis, and only Atlantis, born with control over the oceans, could create such an unforeseen global crisis.

Was this... a declaration of war?

A look of disbelief appeared in their eyes.

Were they tired of living?!

Did they want their race to be annihilated?

After a long moment, Illyana, the queen of Hell's borderlands, was the first to speak with a cold smile, "It seems our Sorcerer Supreme still hasn't taught some idiots the importance of fear... The people on the surface world know his style, but the creatures of the deep clearly don't..."

Many people nodded in deep agreement.

They should be thankful that Tony wasn't on Earth. Otherwise, Atlantis would probably be... wiped out, right? They would definitely be annihilated.

Tony would certainly kill every last Atlantean—civilians or warriors, women or children—just as he had annihilated the Chitauri. Because if this kind of continent-flooding event happens once, it will happen again.

Tony never cared about bearing a notorious reputation, only about whether the final result was favorable.

Blade, wearing his sunglasses, glanced left and right, felt it was too awkward to be holding his two swords, and quietly put them away.

"Crane has already had A.R.G.U.S. fully mobilize, assembling the super-soldier legions and preparing to drop large-yield nuclear bombs into the Atlantic Ocean at any moment."

"It's useless. There's powerful magic in the Atlantic; someone is secretly on guard. Things like nuclear bombs are completely useless against the vast ocean, and they wouldn't allow one to detonate within it."

Wanda gritted her teeth and pushed the magical barrier back several dozen meters, expanding the safe zone. All of New York was under Wanda's magical protection; a Level Four Wanda was fully capable of shielding a city.

But the pressure on her was mounting. Billions of tons of seawater crashed against her barrier relentlessly, and she was powerless to protect people farther away. She certainly couldn't protect half the Earth.

Max remained silent. In a naval battle, his power as Electro was too destructive—the currents he released would affect even his own allies. He silently flew into the sky, electrical energy surging between his hands. With his eyes slightly closed, he sensed the civilians nearby who hadn't managed to escape.

Then, in an instant, Electro made the civilians float into the air and drift swiftly inland. The process wasn't exactly pleasant; some people were simply dragged violently from their homes by Max, shattering glass and leaving them with cuts and scrapes.

But no one cared about such minor things. Everyone looked on with gratitude and joy, their eyes brimming with emotional tears.

"Atlantis!"

Wanda's beautiful face had turned livid. For someone with her gentle temperament who disliked conflict, this was a rare sight.

Wanda was truly enraged.

This was just one city, New York, and it was already such a tragic scene. What about the rest of the world?

Wanda also saw the Statue of Liberty, which had been repaired only a few years ago, get toppled directly by the giant waves.

The miserable screams and wails of countless people, the disaster that fell from the sky, completely enraged this normally good-natured woman, making her grit her teeth in hatred.

They were just civilians. Why must hundreds of millions of innocent people be condemned to death?

An aura even more violent than the ocean emanated faintly from Wanda's body, causing the previously nonchalant Illyana's heart to pound.

Illyana was a demigod dark mage from the borderlands of Hell and was extremely sensitive to magical energy. That raw, brutal power filled with disorder and chaos...

Was this person really Wanda?

Illyana was uncertain. Was this due to Wanda's rage, or was it some hidden change within her Chaos Magic?

"Notify Megatron. Have him attack Atlantis and find out the reason! Then make them pay a heavy price!"

Wanda's pupils turned pitch-black. Deep within her eyes, a terrifying power of Chaos, far exceeding her current level, was brewing.
