Chapter 453

Chapter 440

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Tony walked out of the basement with a calm expression, looking completely unaffected, as if he had just handled a trivial matter.

"Are you okay? Who was the enemy?" Wanda asked with a concerned expression.

"Just some guy who plays with souls. Don't worry, he's gone," Tony said calmly, glancing over at Shockwave.

Shockwave's single eye flickered, and he tacitly remained silent.

That day, Tony took Wanda for a picnic in the nature reserve forest behind the manor. Wisps of smoke drifted upwards before disappearing completely.

The breeze gradually grew stronger, much like the sense of crisis swelling within Tony's heart.

His secret of being a Singular God had been exposed—at least, Death now knew of it.

"Wanda..." Tony paused, hesitating for a moment. "Before long, I'll probably have to leave Earth for a while."

Wanda's movements froze for an instant. Then, feigning nonchalance, she asked casually, "What's it for this time? Last time you went to save the universe, so are you off to save the multiverse now?"

"No, I'm going to build my own planet... Our planet." Tony chuckled, the tension in his heart easing slightly. He pulled Wanda into his arms and nibbled her ear as he spoke.

Wanda's beautiful large eyes blinked a few times, a mixture of pleasant surprise and reluctance showing in them.

Wanda knew full well that Tony's heart wasn't on Earth. Her beloved had always been fixated on certain things.

The mechanical lifeforms Tony created had long been clamoring to leave Earth, shouting slogans like "For the Decepticons!" and "Long live Cybertron!" This was no longer a secret.

Everyone on Earth knew.

"I'm sure plenty of people have been hoping I'd leave for a while now." Tony held Wanda, smiling faintly as he looked up at the clouds drifting by.

Indeed, there were certainly many who couldn't stand the sight of him.

Some of the things Tony had done crossed the line for many people, but he didn't care.

The stronger he became, the more he realized just how small Earth was. Now, whenever Tony opened or closed his eyes, he would see and feel endless overlapping images separating from one another. Each afterimage was a complete universe, an entire timeline.

The more he was exposed to this, the more he understood how insignificant his own grasp of power was.

And the appearance of Death had only intensified this immense sense of crisis, filling him with vigilance.

"When the time comes, we'll build a portal on the new planet. If you want to come back to Earth, you can return anytime," Tony said with a smile.

Wanda rolled her eyes at him. "I know magic. If I want to come back, I'll just use magic."

"Your chaos magic... you should use it as little as possible. That power is incredibly strong, and it can easily erode your sanity."

Wanda hummed in acknowledgment, wrapping her arms around Tony's neck and burying her face in his chest.

The two of them simply held each other quietly, feeling the warmth of their bodies and enjoying the moment of peace.

However, this tranquility was soon shattered.

The incredibly energetic Raven picked up their scent and came over, with two dogs in tow.

Raven ran out in front, with Cosmo and Krypto chasing right behind her, heading straight for the couple.

Raven ran up to the embracing couple. A strange light flickered in her eyes, and looking somewhat awkward, she charged right at them with the two dogs.

"Looks like our quiet time is over," Tony shrugged helplessly.

Wanda grinned. "You're the one who brought her back, so you're responsible for settling her down."

At some point, a hand pinched Tony's side and twisted hard. He immediately let out an exaggerated hiss of air.

...

Beneath the seemingly calm surface, an undercurrent was beginning to stir.

"Mr. Luthor, as per our agreement, we have delivered all the classified materials. You know what it means if any of this gets out."

General Sam Lane, Lois Lane's father and the man who took charge of the super-soldier program after Ross's death, stared grimly at the young man before him.

Piles of classified documents were stacked on the table, containing details on numerous secret projects run by The Authorities.

"General, I'm curious. Why come to me? Stark Industries, Oscorp Industries, Wayne Enterprises—these tech giants all have the power to fulfill your request."

Lex sat in his chair, spinning it back and forth with a casual air that seemed rather flippant for such a serious occasion.

A flash of displeasure crossed Sam's eyes, but he said patiently, "Luthor, you know better than I do. The world's top tech giants all have some connection to *that man*. Right now, you're the only suitable candidate."

"As I recall, you were also involved in Colonel Stryker's Sentinel Program and Weapon X Project."

His vulture-like eyes occasionally gleamed with a cold light, and his pale hair and beard only added to the oppressive air around him.

"No, no, no, that's not it at all, General. Your assertion is incorrect." Luthor stopped his irritating spinning, picked up a pen from the table, and began twirling it between his fingers.

"I merely provided Colonel Stryker with a few genes and some advice. That hardly counts as involvement."

Sam's eyelid twitched. For some reason, this young man before him always managed to stoke his rage with the simplest of words and actions.

If he'd had any other choice, he absolutely would not have come to Luthor.

But he had no choice.

The major corporations were either partially owned by Tony, making secrecy impossible, or had been infiltrated by Scarecrow's A.R.G.U.S.—if the company wasn't an outright member itself.

As far as Sam knew, Oscorp, the corporate giant run by a Harry Osborn who was barely in his twenties, was one of the closest collaborators and participants in A.R.G.U.S.

Harry Osborn himself was one of the higher-ups in A.R.G.U.S.

This was a massive headache.

Lex Luthor stared at the pen in his hand, occasionally looking up at Sam before his gaze returned to the pen. After a moment, he began to spin in his chair again, all while continuing to twirl the pen.

Sam's eyelid twitched violently as his temper flared. He desperately wanted to smash his fist right into Luthor's detestable face.

"General, as I understand it, Tony has a very close relationship with the Military. Doesn't he still hold a rank... Colonel? The super-serum you use is still the original version that Tony provided." Luthor flashed a smile that was a mixture of mockery and disdain.

"That's precisely why we must develop our own soldiers—true super-soldiers! Ones capable of fighting Level Four enemies, at the very least!" Sam's voice grew louder.

"And so?" Luthor maintained his odd smile, tilting his head as he looked at him.

"And so, the last remaining Kryptonian on Earth, Clark Kent, has the potential to become the template for mass-produced super-soldiers!" General Sam said in a low voice, a fanatical glint in his eyes.
