Chapter 456

Chapter 443: A Cosmic Proving Ground, the Doomsday Plot (1)

Author: Great Demon Spirit

"Theoretically, our research direction is correct, and we've fully absorbed the experiment records left behind by the Kryptonians."

Tony frowned slightly, looking at the incubation sacs in the Genesis Chamber. No matter how he tried, he couldn't create a true Doomsday.

Forget a fully formed body; he couldn't even create a single cell.

Something must be wrong somewhere.

Tony was attempting to create a Doomsday under his control. This would give him a powerful trump card, a hand strong enough to turn the tables in a crisis.

The creature known as Doomsday was the most terrifying of all beings, capable of infinite evolution—an evolution so illogical it completely violated the law of conservation of energy and all other rules!

"If we had a Doomsday, our planet Cybertron would possess a... divine beast," Tony mused, trying to pinpoint the problem.

This was Tony's idea. He wanted to personally create a Doomsday—one that possessed infinite evolution and could be controlled by him!

But for now, setting aside the question of how to control a Doomsday with limitless potential, they couldn't even produce a single cell.

The most fundamental characteristic of a Doomsday cell was its ability to strengthen itself infinitely. Whether it was the cell's resilience or its internal energy, it could all be enhanced without any regard for logic.

Yet, they failed time and again. Either the gene chain would collapse the instant the cell formed, leading to its death, or the cell would form but immediately rupture beyond repair upon reaching a certain energy threshold as its power continuously increased.

Tony even considered whether he should just skip the research on individual cells and proceed directly to human experimentation.

Honestly, Tony was a bit hesitant.

Human experimentation itself was simple enough. With the Genesis Chamber and the Codex of Life, Tony could create a legion of Kryptonians loyal to him at any time and use them as test subjects.

But... what if the Doomsday they created was uncontrollable?

The thought of facing a monster that couldn't be killed and only grew stronger gave even Tony a headache.

An unscientific being like Doomsday, hailed as DC Comics' strongest bio-weapon, didn't earn that title for nothing.

Based on its fundamental trait of "never being able to be killed by the same method twice," Doomsday would only continue to grow stronger.

If you stabbed a newborn Doomsday to death with a small knife, it would become immune to small knives upon its resurrection. If you killed Doomsday with a universal big bang, it would be immune to the damage of a universal big bang the next time it revived...

It would be one thing if Doomsday were just a beast acting on instinct, but what many people overlooked was that Doomsday itself possessed an absurdly powerful learning ability.

The moment you attacked it, it could instantly learn the method of attack you used and then deduce a countermeasure.

A terrifying learning ability, coupled with the power of being undying and indestructible, as well as immunity to repeated attacks...

Doomsday was indeed the most perfect war weapon, bar none. Even the Hulk was far from being able to contend with a monster like Doomsday.

Compared to Doomsday, the Hulk was like a child.

The strongest form of the Hulk, the "Four-Armed Hulk," had a greatest achievement of little more than instantly killing a bunch of Watchers. At his absolute peak, he was at the limit of Level Seven.

But the Ancient Doomsday that had wreaked havoc across the Multiverse could make even Darkseid's true form kneel!

This was Doomsday, the universe's strongest bio-weapon! A terrifying creature that could thrash the One-Above-All!

It was no wonder Tony coveted Doomsday. If there were no opportunity, it would be one thing, but with a clear chance to create such a creature, Tony had to try, no matter what.

"The gene chain we deduced is inherently unstable," Knock Out said helplessly, scratching his head.

Shockwave's deep voice sounded, "A stable gene chain would, at best, create a Kryptonian with high-level genes... To create Doomsday, pursuing a stable and unchanging gene chain is absolutely impossible. Otherwise, Doomsday's process of infinite strengthening would only kill itself first. Our approach is the most logical one."

Silence fell over the laboratory. The research was at an impasse, with no solution in sight.

After a long while, Shockwave slowly spoke, "I have an idea... and it's the most suitable method."

The red light in his massive, single eye grew increasingly piercing.

Tony found a place to sit down, his expression somewhat grim. He glanced at Shockwave and uttered a few words: "Large-scale human experimentation."

"Since it's a matter of probability, we'll solve it with probability. Theoretically, as long as we have enough test subjects and eliminate the gene templates of the failed ones, we can inevitably produce a large group of Doomsdays, even if we have to pile up bodies to do it."

Tony stroked his chin, his expression conflicted.

Knock Out was stunned. His central processor instinctively calculated the required numbers and a headache set in. He said in astonishment, "But if we're relying on probability, the number of test subjects needed would be... in the trillions! Far more than that, even!"

The terrifying number made Knock Out feel dizzy. Although he wasn't a saint, such a vast quantity... those were all living beings!

"Where are we going to find that many test subjects? That's almost like treating the entire universe as a giant proving ground—" Knock Out's voice cut off abruptly. His eyes widened as he turned to look at the red-glowing Shockwave, then back at the grim-faced Tony.

"You guys can't be thinking—" Knock Out stared, his electronic eyes nearly popping out. He was not timid, but at this moment, he was terrified.

If this was real... they were insane!

Tony slowly rose to his feet, his face returning to a state of calm. Within his indifferent eyes was a hint of ruthlessness.

"What I want isn't a nerfed version, but a true Doomsday."

Tony looked at his two capable assistants as his placid voice rang out.

"A Doomsday that can get stronger quickly but dies for good after being killed once is not what I want. That kind of brainless monster is ultimately just disposable. It's meaningless."

What Tony was talking about was the nerfed version of Doomsday from the movies of his past life, the one created by Lex Luthor. One second, it was punching Superman and kicking Diana, completely invincible; the next, it was stabbed by a Kryptonite spear and just fucking died...

What a fucking disgrace to the Doomsday name...

A Doomsday that could be killed for good was not what Tony wanted.

Without a doubt, while the nerfed version of Doomsday was far inferior to Ancient Doomsday in all abilities, the difficulty of creating it would be drastically reduced. Tony would only need to spend a little more time, and there was a high probability he could develop it.

But that thing was useless. Tony himself could slaughter millions, even tens of millions of that trash, wiping them out in batches.

Moreover, the nerfed version's intelligence was very low, and its potential was distressingly limited.

What Tony wanted was the Ancient Doomsday created by the ancient Kryptonians—the Doomsday that grew stronger without any regard for logic. That was the real Doomsday!
