Chapter 461: The Crumbling Oa
The moment Doomsday broke through the universe barrier and stormed into the Dark Dimension, this intense fluctuation was immediately noticed by some ancient beings.
Oa, the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps.
Seven Guardians, beings of immense antiquity in the universe, silently monitored the universe's progress.
Their faces were filled with numbness and the ravages of time. Throughout the long ages, they had seen far too much; their extensive memories and experiences had rendered them somewhat impassive.
The region where Oa was located was Sector 0, signifying the center of the universe.
From here, countless Green Lantern warriors took up their Green Lantern Rings, serving as the peacekeepers of the universe and protecting it in their own way.
On this day, the seven Guardians gathered once again, a rare look of shock and anger in their eyes.
"Something terrifying has broken in!"
"Damn it, how could another one come... How long has it been since Trigon was defeated, and now another terrifying fellow has arrived!"
"Outrageous! Do those guys still not recognize the power of our universe?! Even Trigon fell!"
Feeling the terrifying aura raging forth, their expressions turned to fury.
At their level, they naturally had their own ways of judging things. They had thought they could have some peace. The death of Trigon's clone should have been enough to deter those from outside the universe.
When Ancient Doomsday rushed into the Dark Dimension, one of the peripheral dimensions of this universe, its violent and destructive aura was immediately detected by them.
"I feel despair..." one Guardian said in a low voice.
"It's not time to give up yet, even if the one who has come this time is more terrifying than Trigon."
"If you ask me, we should directly mobilize the Seven Lantern Corps, awaken the mysterious White Lantern Ring, and fight the enemy to the death!!"
The other Guardians: "..."
The atmosphere of the entire negotiation suddenly froze.
The last time Trigon came, this guy had said the same thing...
"What, am I wrong? The White Lantern Ring is the most powerful artifact in the universe, capable of resisting any enemy—though I've never seen the thing," the speaking Guardian said, dissatisfied.
Ganthet gave a dry cough and said slowly, "Don't be so irritable, Sayd. Besides, assembling the Seven Lantern Corps isn't that simple. The moment the Seven Lanterns meet, they'll immediately start a civil war. It's too difficult to gather them together."
"Most importantly, are you sure you can awaken the White Lantern Ring? None of us have ever seen it; whether it even exists is another matter! If we gather the Seven Lanterns, I'm afraid the first thing to awaken will be the terrifying Black Lantern Ring!" another Guardian retorted.
"Then what do we do? Look for that Earthling again? His philosophy is different from ours," Sayd said.
All the Guardians couldn't help but frown.
This was a very troublesome problem.
Tony defeated Trigon. Although the process was a bit strange, the result couldn't be faked. They had secretly investigated Tony long ago, but Tony's style of doing things clearly conflicted with their philosophy.
In their view, Tony was no different from other arrogant and unruly individuals. He might not even bother with their recruitment attempts.
"Everyone, the Infinity Stones have been shattered!" Sayd said in a low voice. "Even that Tony can't possibly match the invader. We don't need to rely on him. We are the Guardians of the Universe!"
The other six Guardians frowned, thinking.
Some things were just too strange no matter how you looked at them.
The Monitor race was extinct, Trigon's clone had died in a bizarre fashion, and the sudden rise of Tony—none of it was recorded in the history they had observed.
They even suspected if the universe they existed in had suddenly turned into the Flashpoint Universe. Otherwise, how could a guy like Tony appear?
Unless...
Ganthet's expression flickered, but he said nothing. He looked at his other six companions who were still deep in thought.
"Enough talk. First, recall the Green Lantern Corps," Ganthet said in a deep voice. "Have them withdraw from the Anti-Matter Universe at once. Stop tangling with Mobius."
It was a well-known fact that the Green Lantern Corps and the planet Qward of the Anti-Matter Universe were mortal enemies.
The other Guardians fell silent.
This matter was related to a secret they had discovered.
The ruler of Qward, the God of Knowledge Mobius, was suspected to have found an extraordinary weapon.
The Anti-Life Equation.
The very thing Darkseid had been desperately searching for.
But they tacitly avoided mentioning this secret. Whether such a supremely powerful weapon even existed was still an unknown.
The seven of them also held doubts about whether the formula known as the Anti-Life Equation truly existed.
No one had ever truly seen the Anti-Life Equation.
A series of orders were issued, and the Guardians summoned Sinestro.
Sinestro had magma-like red skin and was a powerful warrior of the Green Lantern Corps, second only to Abin Sur, who was in charge of Sector 2814.
"Sinestro, withdraw the Green Lantern Corps immediately and prepare for battle," Ganthet instructed.
"How is Su? He went to suppress Parallax and there's been no news since."
Sinestro said, perplexed, "I don't know either. There has been no word back from Su to this day."
"I hope Parallax hasn't escaped its confinement. Otherwise, we'll be in big trouble..." Ganthet mused.
Parallax was the Lantern Entity of the yellow light of fear. It could devour the fear of living beings, growing at an astonishing rate. Furthermore, it possessed an evil and destructive nature, making it extremely dangerous.
Most importantly, Parallax was the natural enemy of Green Lantern wielders.
Periodically, the Green Lantern Corps had to send powerful warriors to check the seal, preventing Parallax from escaping.
And Abin Sur, as the greatest warrior in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, undoubtedly shouldered this great mission.
But now, with no news from Su, it was unsettling. Su was a meticulous person; success or failure, he should have at least sent a message back.
But there was complete silence.
"Su is a great warrior. We don't need to worry about him. He knows what to do," Ganthet commanded. "For now, we will first gather the Green Lantern Corps and at the same time prepare the Yellow Lantern Ring..."
BOOM!
A deafening roar, as if space itself was shattered by brute force.
The entire universe trembled violently for an instant, as if expressing its fear of the intruder.
"That thing has broken out of the Dark Dimension!"
"What about Dormammu? That braggart, couldn't he even withstand a single blow?"
"It's confirmed. The invader is at least a multiverse-level being."
"Not good, he's coming! He's heading straight for Oa!"
The Guardians spoke rapidly, urging Sinestro to act quickly and assemble the Green Lantern Corps.
"I know you are forging a Yellow Lantern Ring. Give it to me. I possess the powerful willpower to master fear," Sinestro said suddenly, not moving an inch.
The Guardians were stunned.
Faintly, a roar that shook the very soul traversed the cosmos and reached Oa.
One Guardian shouted angrily, "There's no time! We might as well just awaken..."
"Silence! I will not allow it!" Ganthet rebuked him, his face grim as he looked at the eagerly waiting Sinestro.
