Chapter 485: Sinestro and Optimus Prime
On Mars, Sinestro, wearing a Green Lantern Ring, appeared before Optimus Prime and stated his purpose.
"...New Oa has been established. Every trusted Green Lantern officer must undergo the strictest training."
Sinestro floated in the air, arms crossed, sizing up the massive, predominantly blue behemoth before him with a scrutinizing gaze. He spoke indifferently.
Sinestro couldn't help but be suspicious. He knew very well that the mechanical life form before him, Optimus Prime, was a creation of Tony's.
It was nothing short of a miracle. That man could already create an entirely new species...
The deeply suspicious Sinestro instantly considered numerous plots and schemes, including the possibility that Tony might use this to extend his influence into the Green Lantern Corps.
At this point, although Sinestro had already developed suspicion and disgust for the Guardians, he still held a deep love for the Green Lantern Corps and would not allow anyone to harm it.
As he thought this, the coldness in Sinestro's eyes intensified.
Optimus Prime nodded and said, "When I put on the ring, a great deal of knowledge was uploaded into my mind. I am willing to accept the training."
"Very well. I hope you can become a worthy warrior, so as not to bring shame to Abin Sur's legacy." Sinestro snorted coldly. A green light flared as he took to the sky first, looking down and watching Optimus Prime with a cold gaze.
Ultra Magnus said in a low voice, "Remember to contact us regularly. If they try to do anything to you, I will immediately seek Primus' help."
"Don't worry. They won't dare to do anything, nor is there any need to. It would only gain them a group of terrifying enemies."
A flicker passed imperceptibly through Optimus Prime's azure eyes as he met Sinestro's gaze in the air. He was different from the other Lanterns; without their rings, they were useless, but even without his ring, he was still Optimus Prime.
It is he who brings greatness to the Green Lantern, not the other way around.
His eight-and-a-half-meter metal body stood tall. The Green Lantern Ring on his right middle finger surged with light, enveloping his entire form. Then, Optimus Prime channeled his willpower, causing himself to slowly rise into the air.
Flight is a Lantern's most basic ability.
Sinestro snorted, his expression softening slightly. "Impressive willpower and talent. I'm starting to have some hope for you, rookie."
With that, he raised his fist and shot into space, flying toward Sector 0. He didn't want to spend another moment in this damned Solar System.
On nearby Earth, that terrifying Tony might be watching him.
Optimus Prime followed closely behind him. Two streaks of green light traversed the Universe at an indescribable speed, crossing countless galaxies every second. They didn't worry about getting lost, as the Lantern Ring was an encyclopedia and an Artificial Intelligence connected directly to his Central Processor, guiding him at all times.
New Oa was built in imitation of the original, right down to its identical yellow color scheme.
The original Oa had been unlucky, situated right in the path of Doomsday's advance. A single light collision was all it took for it to be gone.
"What do I need to do after we arrive on Oa?" Optimus Prime asked during the flight.
"I will personally train you and teach you the rules of the Green Lantern Corps until you are qualified," Sinestro said coolly.
Optimus Prime said no more. After flying for about 24 hours, the two finally reached New Oa. The energy in Optimus Prime's ring was almost completely depleted.
"Not bad, rookie," Sinestro nodded. "Follow me. The seven Guardians want to see you."
Atop seven towering stone pillars, seven Guardians sat silently, like seven stones. Their numb, indifferent eyes watched the two figures, one large and one small.
"That mechanical life form... observe him closely. He may not be willing to obey us," one Guardian suddenly said.
"Tony will undoubtedly be a higher priority for him than we are, but he is only one person. It's not a major issue."
"According to the message Sinestro sent back, Tony used an unknown method to expel Doomsday, suspected to be a Mother Box from Apokolips."
"This is troublesome. That thing really is on Earth... However, according to the agreement we signed with Darkseid years ago, he will not easily dispatch his Parademon Army to attack the Prime Universe."
The seven Guardians fell into silence.
After the massacre in Sector 666, the First Army, the "Manhunters," was decommissioned. When the Green Lantern Corps was first founded, they organized 2,500 Lanterns to proactively launch a war against Apokolips.
They were just looking for someone to make an example of, to make the entire Universe, and even the whole Multiverse, recognize their power and fear them.
Unfortunately, their first strike was aimed at the wrong target. After a difficult initial victory against a legion of Parademons, they managed to provoke a very intrigued Darkseid himself.
Before Darkseid, a mere two thousand five hundred Lanterns were, of course, no match. In the presence of that tyrant, the Green Lantern Corps was nearly annihilated.
Then, the Guardians decisively revealed themselves, signed a truce with Darkseid, and betrayed the great and loyal Lantern, Rekt.
Rekt met a tragic end, brutally killed by Darkseid.
Darkseid also lost interest in the feeble Green Lantern Corps. This unprecedented emotional energy had initially intrigued Darkseid, but he never expected it to be so fragile.
This was a dark chapter in their history that the Guardians desperately tried to cover up, one of their many despicable acts.
Just as Tony described them, they were merely a group of beings with "lofty goals and despicable hearts."
With the arrival of Optimus Prime and Sinestro, the Guardians fell silent. They majestically looked down upon them, their gazes revealing a profound numbness, devoid of any emotion.
"Great Guardians, I have brought Abin Sur's successor, Optimus Prime from Mars," Sinestro said, tilting his head back.
"Very good, Sinestro. From now on, you will train him until he becomes a qualified officer, just as Abin Sur trained you."
Ganthet said faintly.
The seven Guardians acted as if they didn't even see Optimus Prime, their indifferent gazes fixed on Sinestro.
They were very cautious. A lifespan of ten billion years was enough for them to see through many things.
Optimus Prime came from the Solar System and was one of Tony's subordinates. That alone spoke volumes.
They were unwilling to offend Tony, so they decided to just hold their noses and accept it. It was only one Lantern Ring, after all, and they had plenty more in storage.
Sinestro nodded respectfully and asked, "Regarding Parallax, I request permission to lead a team of Lanterns to capture it. Abin Sur is dead, and Parallax must pay the price."
The Guardians exchanged a glance and slowly nodded.
If he could succeed, all the better. Sinestro was currently the strongest warrior they had at their disposal.
Unless... they were to create the intelligent, augmented Lantern, the "Supreme Green Lantern," ahead of schedule. But the time was not yet right.
