Chapter 527: Amatsu-Mikaboshi, Odin, Jade Emperor
Author: Great Demon Spirit
Zeus, the King of the Gods, spat out a mouthful of divine blood. Its corrosive power, more potent than the most terrifying acid on Earth, instantly bored through the solid ground.
The ground, which had been repeatedly reinforced by the twelve Chief Gods of Olympus for nearly a thousand years, was easily pierced by the blood Zeus spat out.
Zeus was bare-chested; this was the proper etiquette for the God-King of Olympus, as a strong divine body was considered the symbol of a God-King. His disheveled hair hung loose. It should have been spotless, for his surging Divine Power was enough to cleanse his body, yet now it was covered in dust.
His eyes widened, and a divine light erupted from them, shooting out violently. However, it was easily erased by the powerful deity before him, who blocked Zeus's attack with a simple wave of his hand.
"Who in the world are you!!!"
Zeus roared in defiance, his muscles bulging and veins popping. His divine blood surged wildly, supplying what little Divine Power he had left as he pushed himself to the limit, trying to squeeze out more power.
"I am Amatsu-Mikaboshi. I always have been."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi pinned Hades, the god of the Underworld and one of the twelve Chief Gods, with his foot. With a slight exertion of force, he crushed Hades's head.
This deity wore a loose, white divine robe. Frowning slightly as if finding the clothes cumbersome, he casually tore them off. His fluffy hair fell away, and his entire body instantly turned pitch-black, like a shadow.
His long, narrow white eyes had no pupils—just a vast expanse of white that stared at Zeus and the other Chief Gods of the Olympus pantheon.
"The Maya, the Greeks, Shiva, Allah, Amaterasu... I sense their auras on you. You killed them all..."
Athena's golden hair was in disarray, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. Her unparalleled beauty was the most outstanding among the Gods of Olympus. Her tragic expression revealed her horror.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi lifted Hades's body, snatched his soul as it tried to escape, opened his mouth slightly, inhaled, and swallowed it in one gulp.
The Divine Power Hades had accumulated over countless years, along with his body and soul, was completely devoured by Amatsu-Mikaboshi in a single breath, becoming a part of him.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi's strength grew once more, and his Divine Power now carried the scent of Hades.
The Gods of Olympus were horrified. Behind them, the collapsed Twelve Divine Pillars seemed to foreshadow a calamitous fate.
"Tastes good, but it's a bit lacking."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi wiped his mouth, still wanting more. His ghastly white eyes stared over as he began counting on his fingers. "Let's see, recently, I've slaughtered almost the entire World Tree Pantheon... All that's left untouched are Asgard, Olympus, and the Heavenly Court."
"Oh, and now I've started on Olympus. As expected of the three greatest pantheons, the taste is truly different. The flavor of a mere god of the Underworld is quite satisfying. If I devour your entire pantheon, I'm sure I'll have the strength to sweep through Asgard and the Heavenly Court."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi patted his stomach in satisfaction, his eyes filled with greed.
He had spent a very long time, little by little, devouring every pantheon except for the big three. This included his own Japanese Pantheon; he slaughtered and ate them all.
The Supreme God of the Japanese Pantheon, Amaterasu, was also swallowed by him in one gulp, increasing his Divine Power by a large margin.
Now feeling confident, Amatsu-Mikaboshi finally began to move against the three great pantheons. He was very cautious and had thought about it for a long time, ultimately deciding to strike at Olympus first.
Among all the pantheons, Asgard was undoubtedly the most high-profile. They still guarded the World Tree, acting in the role of its guardians. God-King Odin was also incredibly powerful. Already famous for his combat power, and with a host of divine artifacts in his hands, his strength was terrifying.
Therefore, Amatsu-Mikaboshi did not choose them.
As for the Heavenly Court... to be honest, Amatsu-Mikaboshi could never figure out those secretive fellows. The entire Heavenly Court seemed to have suddenly become a bunch of mystics, each one acting furtively, secretly plotting who knows what.
The unknown inherently represents risk. As one of the three great pantheons, the Heavenly Court acted in the most bizarre manner. Their low profile was so extreme it was somewhat chilling. Besides themselves, no one knew what they were planning.
Naturally, Amatsu-Mikaboshi set his sights on Olympus.
A thousand years ago, the gods of the World Tree united as never before to face the Celestials who had descended upon Earth for the third time. They were full of confidence and arrogance, but ended up getting completely thrashed from start to finish.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi had also participated in that battle, secretly gauging the true strength of each pantheon. It was the best opportunity in history—a chance to witness the great pantheons fighting for their lives with all their might.
Back then, Odin truly fought with his life on the line. His combat power was off the charts, making Amatsu-Mikaboshi's scalp tingle with fear.
The law of growth for the Asgardian divine race is that the older they get, the stronger they become. When an elderly Odin, clad in the Destroyer Armor, went berserk, even the Celestials had to take him seriously. The elderly Odin of a thousand years ago was several times more powerful than the current, dying Odin in his twilight years (a dying Odin who could no longer even bear the power he had accumulated over his lifetime and could only sustain his life through slumber).
The elderly Odin personally charged to the front lines, wearing the Destroyer Armor and wielding the Eternal Spear. He single-handedly fought a full squadron of Celestials, a sight that was absolutely shocking.
You have to understand, even the weakest of the Celestials was at least Level Seven. Yet the elderly Odin managed to fight a full squadron to a bloody standstill—and though it was only a brief stalemate before he was ultimately defeated, that was still terrifying as hell!
At the time, it truly terrified Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
If the Asgardian pantheon had made Amatsu-Mikaboshi give up temporarily due to the elderly Odin's divine valor, then the Heavenly Court's way of fighting in the war was something he simply couldn't comprehend.
The Heavenly Court also sent out all its main forces. As one of the three great pantheons, the immortals of this self-proclaimed "Xian" Immortal Alliance did indeed fulfill their duty, and many immortals fell in battle.
But that Jade Emperor... Amatsu-Mikaboshi really couldn't figure him out.
Odin was loud and boisterous, shouting slogans while fighting the Celestials to the death. The Jade Emperor, on the other hand, played a supporting role. Carrying a glittering golden Imperial Seal, he would wait for a lone Celestial, then suddenly pounce and *smack*!—deliver a vicious blow to the back of its head.
Although Odin was fierce and his combat record impressive, the MVP for taking down the most Celestials was still the Jade Emperor. Dressed in his Nine-Dragon Robe and wearing his Glazed Crown, he wandered the battlefield, carrying what looked like a high-grade brick and using it to bash anyone he came across.
He looked unassuming, but damn, he was the most ruthless and merciless of them all.
As a result, even when the final battle arrived and the pantheons were defeated, Amatsu-Mikaboshi still hadn't figured out the Jade Emperor's true capabilities.
There was nothing to be done. The Jade Emperor either wouldn't act, being stingy with his moves, or when he did, there would be a flash of gold, a *smack*, and it was guaranteed to be a killing blow. How was anyone supposed to deal with that?
Furthermore, after the gods suffered heavy casualties in the final battle, the Ancient One miraculously rose to power. With a mortal body and transcendent talent, she ascended to the God-King level and began to hunt them down with an iron fist. This made a bad situation worse for the various pantheons. Without even a chance to catch their breath, they were plunged into a new war. Many of the weaker pantheons, already severely wounded by the Celestials, were nearly wiped out by the Ancient One.
Under these circumstances, after losing just a few cannon-fodder immortals who had been raised on Peaches of Immortality, the Heavenly Court said a brief farewell and hastily fled. Piloting the world where the Heavenly Court resides, the "Great Luo Heaven," they began to wander through interstellar space.
Their actions were utterly bizarre.
Although the three great God-Kings were injured, they weren't necessarily afraid of the up-and-coming Ancient One. Yet, the Heavenly Court fled quickly, and to this day, there has been no news from them. They are so secretive; no one knows what they are busy with.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi didn't know either.
