Chapter 528: The Fall of Olympus
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
This was exactly why Amatsu-Mikaboshi always remained vigilant toward the Heavenly Court; he genuinely couldn't figure them out.
The way the Heavenly Court conducted itself was utterly bizarre. Even in a war of such brutal intensity, the Jade Emperor never displayed his full strength.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi guessed that the Jade Emperor must have been holding back a tremendous amount of power and that his true strength might not be much less than Odin's. For some unknown reason, however, no person or god had ever witnessed the Jade Emperor go all out.
They were so secretive. Who knew what that band of immortals was secretly researching under the Jade Emperor's leadership?
So, naturally, Amatsu-Mikaboshi set his sights on the last of the three great pantheons—the Olympus Pantheon.
After slaughtering all the other second and third-rate pantheons, Amatsu-Mikaboshi obtained the coordinates for Olympus and launched a savage assault.
The various divine powers from the vast majority of pantheons all gathered within Amatsu-Mikaboshi's body, granting him incomparably formidable strength, enough to conquer the entirety of Olympus by himself.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi's most terrifying ability was that he could perfectly wield the power of every deity he had devoured.
Zeus spat out a mouthful of divine blood. His body, as solid as steel rebar, struggled to its feet. His eyes were bloodshot with fury, and the seething resentment in his heart caused the King of the Gods to erupt with immense power.
"Who the hell are you?! Amatsu-Mikaboshi couldn't possibly have this kind of power! Leaving aside whether he has the strength to slaughter entire pantheons, he shouldn't be able to control so many disparate divine powers! Divine powers from different systems would conflict with one another; they could never coexist! Who are you?!"
The very last of Zeus's divine power was squeezed out of him. The vast divine power, like purple lightning, transformed into a terrifying sea of thunder that coiled around his body. Countless bolts of thunder, each capable of destroying stars and collapsing star systems, formed into one thunder spear after another.
Zeus roared and charged at Amatsu-Mikaboshi as countless bolts of thunder shot forward. Behind him, Athena, Hera, Ares, and the others also expended the last of their divine power to charge.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi's body abruptly expanded. His shadowy form enlarged, like an infinitely thin yet indestructible phantom. Like a curtain, it swept over and enveloped the eleven remaining chief gods.
In all of Olympus, aside from these eleven chief gods, the other second-class gods and the numerous divine civilians had all been devoured by Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
No one was his match.
"I am Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Amatsu-Mikaboshi of the Japanese Pantheon. But I'm not like any of you. I'm just an outsider who joined the Japanese Pantheon for fun."
"To show my gratitude to Amaterasu, I devoured the Japanese Pantheon first, letting her and that whole group of idiots become fuel for my growth."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi sent Ares, the God of War, flying. With his other hand, he punched straight through Hera, the Queen of the Gods. Ignoring the attacks of the other gods, he devoured her in a single bite, making audible chewing sounds.
Dazzlingly bright blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. A disgusting tongue darted out to lick it away. "Not bad. As expected of the Queen of the Gods. My power increased by another 3%? Barely acceptable, I suppose."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi looked at Zeus seriously, a savage grin spreading across his face. "You should be able to provide me with a boost of over 20%. After all, you are a universe-level God-King."
"Aaargh—you demon!!"
The corners of Zeus's eyes split open. Mad with hatred, he threw himself forward recklessly. He no longer cared who this creature before him was; he couldn't afford to.
The dignity of the King of the Gods would not allow him to flee. It was his duty to fight to the very last moment. Since this enemy had invaded and was targeting every pantheon, he would not retreat another step.
His only regret was not discovering Amatsu-Mikaboshi's slaughter of the other pantheons sooner.
"You're too insular, Zeus. Did you really think that by embedding the nail that is Paradise Island in the outside world, you could monitor everything? Did you really think that bunch of equally insular lovers of yours on Paradise Island would come up with any new tricks you didn't already know?"
"Or perhaps you thought being low-key, arranging just for Paradise Island, would convey your harmlessness and caution? Your perspective has limited you. Your stupidity has ruined everything. You're no different from any of the other idiotic pantheons. Becoming my nourishment is your ultimate fate."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi laughed savagely, greedily eyeing the chief gods whose faces were etched with fear.
Hestia, the goddess of the hearth, let out a scream, turned, and fled.
"No, come back!" Zeus cried out in anguish.
But it was too late. Amatsu-Mikaboshi's body suddenly expanded, enveloping and devouring Hestia.
The slaughter continued. As if it were a game, Amatsu-Mikaboshi sent the chief gods flying one by one, then randomly picked one to eat before selecting his next target. The sight of the chief gods from one of the three great pantheons, once so high and mighty, now in a state of panicked disarray brought him immense pleasure.
This bunch of native gods... did they really think having an ancient origin made them so special?
These pantheons all originated from a powerful creator god. This creator brought forth the first batch of Ancient Gods on Yggdrasil—Korsen, the source of Chaos Magic, was one of these Ancient Gods. The Ancient Gods then proliferated. Oshtur of the Vishanti trinity was also one of the first Ancient Gods; her son, Agamotto, founded Kamar-Taj, and together with Hoggoth, they form the powerful magical entity, the Vishanti. This proliferation gradually gave rise to the now-familiar World Tree Pantheon.
That creator god was at least at the super-universe level, a being Amatsu-Mikaboshi certainly couldn't defeat. The first generation of Ancient Gods were at least multiverse-level, and he couldn't defeat them either. He could only bully these descendants of the Ancient Gods, these pantheons whose upper limit was merely single-universe level.
This was a hunt.
"I am nobler than any of you deities." Amatsu-Mikaboshi tore Athena to shreds and bit Demeter and the other chief gods to death, devouring them all.
"I am a clone of a great being, an ancient deity who maintains the balance of the entire multiverse. Even that creator god cannot compare to my origin."
"I, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, am a clone of Oblivion, the strongest of the Five Great Gods. I separated from him, but I possess my own independent power, consciousness, and soul. That I have taken an interest in you is your honor."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi's power grew rapidly. After devouring ten chief gods, only Ares, the God of War, and Zeus, the King of the Gods, remained.
"Oh, great being, I, Ares, your humble servant, am willing to fight for you!" Ares dropped his axe and hastily knelt, trembling as he declared his submission.
"Ares, you! You are base and shameless!" Zeus pointed at him in fury. Although he had long known his son was cruel and despicable, he never expected that, at the moment of their pantheon's extinction, he would be the only one to kneel to the enemy.
Ares, who always liked to tattle to Zeus after being defeated, was the most shameless of all of Zeus's children—bar none. Even so, Zeus had still underestimated just how low Ares would sink.
Ares, the God of War who loved warfare, kneeling before a stronger enemy... it seemed there was nothing wrong with that.
"Very good." Amatsu-Mikaboshi was taken aback for a moment. This was the first time a deity had knelt before him. He said with delight, "Kill Zeus, and I will spare your life. I will permit you to follow me in my campaign against our next target—the Heavenly Court."
