Chapter 575: Transplant
A fragment of the Power Stone was carefully transplanted into Megatron's Spark by Shockwave and the others.
This was an insane act, equivalent to directly stuffing a piece of bread into a human's heart.
Bread provides energy, but that doesn't mean it can be directly absorbed by the heart. Yet, the Power Stone fragment could be absorbed by the Spark.
Moreover, it was Megatron's Leader-class Spark. The crux of the matter was whether Megatron could endure it, and for how long.
If he couldn't, he would die. This was destined to be a brutal war of attrition: either Megatron would use his life-core Spark to devour all the power of the Power Stone fragment and successfully seize control, or he would be overwhelmed and burst, leading to his death.
Furthermore, the Power Stone fragment was just the beginning. In the future, more Infinity Stone fragments awaited Megatron.
"Since he has chosen this path, I will support him."
Tony stood outside the laboratory, calmly watching Megatron's body tremble violently after the stone fragment was implanted.
Beside him, Optimus Prime, clad in his Green Lantern uniform, remained silent. He watched his friend and rival struggle in agony for a long while before slowly saying, "He will succeed. He never does anything he isn't sure of, much like you."
"Perhaps," Tony said. "But every action is a huge gamble. A single failure means losing everything."
Tony watched every move of the busy scientists in the laboratory, and every one of Megatron's struggles fell under his observation.
He keenly perceived that the frequency of Megatron's trembling was decreasing—a sign that he was about to fall into a deep slumber. As long as he crossed this first hurdle, although the road ahead would still be incredibly difficult, Megatron would have laid the most solid foundation for himself.
Subconsciously, Tony touched his chest. Inside, encased in flesh and blood, the black Plot Gem silently emitted a dark luster, concealing his presence on a soul-particle level.
He looked forward to seeing how powerful Megatron would become after fusing with the nine Infinity Stones, although this hypothesis was nearly impossible to realize.
The Ego Stone was an insurmountable chasm, and the Tier-Nine, ill-tempered Nemesis was not to be trifled with.
"What about you? When will you make your move?" Tony suddenly asked.
Optimus Prime paused before saying, "Soon. I've already figured out the layout of the prison on Oa. Coincidentally, the Kree and the Skrulls have broken out into an unprecedentedly brutal war, which has drawn the full attention of the Guardians. I will make my move as soon as I get back."
"You should know that even if you rescue Sinestro, and he is sincerely grateful, he won't hesitate to kill you when the time comes. That's just the kind of person he is. Hatred and honor will drive him to seek greater power."
Tony put his hands in his pockets, continuing to watch the scene in the laboratory without turning his head. "Sinestro will leave you to face the wrath of the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps alone," he continued. "Then he will seize the opportunity to travel to the Anti-Matter Universe in search of greater power."
"Alternatively, you could join him and travel to the Anti-Matter Universe together."
Optimus Prime replied calmly, "I have prepared for the worst. Regardless, when I needed help the most, Sinestro personally taught me how to be a qualified Lantern and helped me integrate into the Green Lantern Corps. I will repay him, and then we will owe each other nothing."
Tony nodded in satisfaction.
One must always distinguish between personal debts and factional allegiances, but very few people can actually do it. Even when they know the right course of action, they are often unwilling to part with their vested interests and end up becoming the very people they despise most.
For Optimus Prime to rescue Sinestro was equivalent to betraying the entire Green Lantern Corps. He would be stripped of his ring, arrested, and thrown into prison.
And permanently expelled.
Optimus Prime was well aware of this. He knew that his actions would disappoint many of his supporters.
"If that bunch of Little Blue Men are looking for death and actually imprison you, I will personally lead an army to Oa and teach them a lesson."
Tony said lightly, "That bunch of fools is known for their terrible decisions. It would be better to clean them out sooner rather than later."
If you carefully examine the glorious history of the Little Blue Men, it's a history of complete and utter idiocy. They try to maintain order in the universe according to their own ideas, but they always mess things up.
"It won't come to that," Optimus Prime said. "The Guardians know what's at stake; they won't risk starting a war with Cybertron. At most, they'll imprison me for a few days for show and then permanently exile me."
Tony turned to look at him, glancing at the Green Lantern ring on his hand. "Without the Green Lantern Ring, you could try a Yellow Lantern Ring. The Yellow Light of Fear isn't really different from the Green Light of Will; both are very suitable for you. Your formidable will is enough to wield both a yellow and a green ring simultaneously."
"When you rescue Sinestro," Tony said, "I will make my move against Parallax. I'll begin creating Yellow Lantern Rings at the same time he heads for the Anti-Matter Universe."
This was Tony's plan. The key was Sinestro. The moment Sinestro journeyed to the Anti-Matter Universe to find his old friend would be the moment the Yellow Lantern Rings were born.
In his early years, Sinestro was just an archaeologist on the planet Korugar. One day, a heavily injured Green Lantern crashed in front of him.
While dispensing justice, this Green Lantern had been targeted and hunted by a visitor from the Anti-Matter Universe—the Weapon Master—and was on the verge of death.
At the critical moment, Sinestro did not flee. Instead, he mustered his courage and did something insane: he took the ring from the Lantern's hand, put it on his own, and fought the Weapon Master.
As a result, Sinestro, with his exceptional talent and formidable will, won the fight and drove off the Weapon Master.
When the gravely injured Lantern pleaded with Sinestro, begging for the ring back to save his life, Sinestro walked away without a second glance.
He resolutely flew away wearing the ring, leaving the Green Lantern behind to die slowly.
What followed was simple. The new Lantern, Sinestro, caught the eye of Abin Sur, who personally mentored him into becoming a great Lantern. Sinestro's name began to spread throughout the Green Lantern Corps.
And the reinforcement Sinestro sought in the Anti-Matter Universe was none other than the Weapon Master. The bond between them had been fated since their very first encounter.
The Weapon Master would forge the first Yellow Lantern Ring for the hate-filled Sinestro.
At the same time, Tony would use Parallax to create Yellow Lantern Rings.
Sinestro would become cannon fodder, the one taking the hits on the front lines.
"I have people monitoring Earth. Starscream has already secretly departed for the cosmos to find traces of the Controllers and track down the Orange Lantern Ring. The Blue Lantern Corps is a contingency Su left behind; you can contact them at any time. Add to that the Parallax I captured myself, and more than half of the Seven Lanterns will fall into our hands. In the coming Spectrum War, we will hold an absolute advantage."
"As for how to avoid the brutal Blackest Night, that's something we'll have to consider after the Spectrum War breaks out."
