Chapter 611: Stryker's Death
The Flash ran wildly, fiercely erupting yellow electric arcs as he pushed his speed to the limit, tightly encircling a group of strangely shaped Sentinel Robots in the center.
Implanted with X-genes through technological means, these killing machines possessed incredibly terrifying metamorphic abilities. Centered around Mystique's shapeshifting, each Sentinel Robot possessed more than a dozen different superpowers.
Stryker was a genius; there was no doubt about that. But when his talents were applied to the villainous side, it was an absolute nightmare. These Sentinel Robots, currently entangled with The Flash, were already nearly identical to the complete models that automatically tracked and slaughtered Mutants.
Or rather, in a strict sense, even stronger.
"It's useless, The Flash. My robots have infinite energy and infinite regeneration capabilities. They feel no fear, no pain. Sooner or later, they will kill you!"
Stryker, hanging upside down from the building, struggled to lift his head. The inverted blood flow engorged his head, and his bulging veins were starkly visible. Beneath his exhausted face, a pathological excitement was utterly uncontrollable.
"My Sentinels were originally designed with Tony as the hypothetical enemy! I added a vast amount of mutant genes: regeneration, teleportation, cryokinesis, fire control, immunity to magnetic field control, steel hardening... For every single Sentinel, I inputted massive amounts of mutant genes and ability data! I even inputted various war data for them! What do you have to compare with my robots?!"
Stryker roared madly.
The Flash, relying on his incredibly high speed, tightly confined each Sentinel in the center, while countless yellow electric arcs formed a giant cage around them.
Some Sentinels tried to break out with their powerful hardened bodies, but were immediately struck back by a Speed Force Lightning Bolt hurled by The Flash.
The Flash could, while moving at ultra-high speed, reach out and grab the yellow electric arcs generated from his body, and in an ultra-fast frequency similar to bullet time, forcefully hurl the arcs, solidified into a lightning state, outwards.
This was more effective than any weapon.
For Speedsters, besides their own bodies and the Speed Force they wielded, any other weapon was nonsense. When speed was pushed to its extreme, a casual punch was enough to unleash a terrifying force starting at ten thousand tons, coupled with the all-round reinforcement the Speed Force bestowed upon The Flash...
Yet, even such a powerful The Flash was helpless against these Sentinel Robots.
Shattered, they could immediately regenerate; even Speed Force Lightning Bolts couldn't break their hardened or diamond-like bodies; thrown into harsh environments like Outer Space, lava, or the Deep Sea, they would teleport back in minutes.
Unkillable, indestructible, and if not careful, impossible to contain, these robots would simply teleport away and go on a killing spree... These Sentinel Robots consumed too much of The Flash's energy.
Otherwise, with his speed of over three thousand times the speed of sound, he wouldn't fear any enemy.
"My speed is still too slow..." The Flash thought with some frustration as he sped along, ignoring Stryker's triumphant shouts, which sounded infinitely slowed down in his ears.
He was still far from the terrifying speed of circling the Milky Way Galaxy several times in a second, or running from one end of the Universe to the other in an hour. Currently, he hadn't even broken through the light-speed barrier.
Amidst the storm of flashing electric arcs and thunder, whenever a Sentinel Robot tried to break free, it was violently struck back by The Flash. The Flash was patient; he was waiting for his comrades' assistance.
"The Flash, you will die, you will die!! You damned thing!" Stryker roared, then burst into mad laughter again.
"Shut up, you Nazi!" The Flash slammed a fist into a Sentinel attempting to teleport, making it stumble and forcing it to abort its teleportation.
"Red Skull was right; it's precisely because of you superheroes that there are so many disasters!"
"Don't blame your wife's tragic death on us; your son's awakened ability went out of control! The suffering of one person shouldn't be borne by an entire group!"
"As long as you exist, disasters will continue. But if all of you die, perhaps disasters won't happen. I'd really like to see what the world would be like after all of you are gone."
"You've gone mad, Stryker! Red Skull has brainwashed you!" The Flash raged.
Stryker laughed wildly, his eyes bloodshot. He was in charge of the Weapon X Project. After Mutants on Earth became extinct, his genetic experiments were greatly affected; at least, there weren't as many materials available to him.
Until Red Skull came knocking.
He had to follow Red Skull; if he didn't, he would die.
"You don't need to reason with such people. If some scoundrels were willing to listen to you, they wouldn't be scoundrels in the first place."
A portal glowing with golden-yellow sparks appeared, and Stephen walked out from the other end. His face grim, the continuous disasters on Earth had exhausted the Sorcerer Supreme. Whenever a disaster occurred, his competitive nature always made him compare himself to his two predecessors, only to collapse in the realization...
...that he truly was a complete failure.
When Ancient One and Tony were still around, anyone who dared to jump out of line would be killed.
But now that Stephen was in charge, everyone dared to challenge him. The cruel reality was too heartbreaking.
The sorcerer profession inherently focused on accumulation, requiring the learning of vast amounts of knowledge. Stephen's talent was unquestionable, but the successive crises left him scrambling, with little time to enrich himself.
Had it been his two predecessors, their ruthless methods and immense power would have been enough to eliminate strong enemies in the shortest time, allowing them to focus on getting stronger. But Stephen couldn't do that; he still lacked the decisive ability to finish things.
"Sin needs to face judgment."
Stephen rubbed his forehead, his face grim as he looked at the upside-down Stryker, then slowly raised his hand.
Huge rings of light appeared, then sharply contracted, and Stryker was instantly dismembered.
"What did you do?!" The Flash froze, caught off guard and sent flying by a Sentinel Robot.
"I'm killing. Fulfilling the duties befitting the Sorcerer Supreme."
Stephen, looking disheveled, steeled his heart and killed Stryker, that menace.
The more crises he encountered, the more Stephen recalled the methods of Ancient One and Tony, and then he realized... indeed, Fight Violence with Violence was the truth. When dealing with deranged individuals, could one still hope to convert them with time and words?
"No, he should face legal judgment! Not your judgment!" The Flash was stunned, watching the intestines, organs, and other bloody contents spill all over the floor.
"I am never stingy with mercy for those who might turn over a new leaf. But for someone like Stryker, I will act according to the demands of the Sorcerer Supreme." Stephen explained, then, regardless of whether The Flash agreed or not, quickly cast a portal, temporarily dismembering several rampaging Sentinels.
