Chapter 610: Red Skull's Act
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
A minute later, the ground collapsed, the earth cracked, and smoke billowed.
Ares was beaten black and blue, staring at Clark with a dumbfounded expression.
"How are you so strong!!!" Ares tried hard to widen his eyes, but his swollen eyelids made the action look comical.
Clark grabbed Ares's neck. It was unclear where he picked up this habit, but he flew up, hoisting Ares like a chick.
Clark, having been injected with Doomsday cells and successfully adapting to them, had seen his Combat Power soar, putting him in a completely different league compared to his former self.
Doomsday cells, combined with High-Level Kryptonian genes, would unleash astonishing Potential as long as he didn't die.
Clark already possessed a trace of Level Seven Combat Power. While still far from reaching its full potential, a glimmer of possibility had emerged.
Don't forget, the Codex of Life had been present within Clark for over twenty years, inevitably having a deep-seated impact on Clark's Gene Chain.
And the Doomsday cells were precisely what fully unearthed this influence.
"Where should we send him? Gotham City's Arkham? New York City's Circus Prison?" Diana asked.
Clark pointed upwards. "First, send him to Tony. He has a specialized Prison. Once our Space Base is completed, we'll prepare to lock all such powerful criminals in the Space Base."
Ares tried to open his mouth to roar, but Diana punched him, making him shut it tightly.
Diana looked at Ares's helmet, a thought stirring within her. Ignoring Ares's panicked and Rage-filled expression, she directly took off the helmet. She hesitated for a moment but did not immediately put it on her own head.
"What's wrong? Is there anything special about this helmet?"
"No, nothing..."
...
Ares's defeat wasn't due to his weakness; it was because he encountered a Superman whose strength had soared, and he was utterly crushed.
This could already be considered a very significant victory—as long as no one rescued Ares again. Lobo, the Mercenary from the Universe, was one such example; he was captured once but was rescued again.
Lobo, this notorious Mercenary from the Universe, was an animal enthusiast, obsessed with cosmic beings like "Cosmic Dolphins." Most of his life was spent searching the Universe for traces of Cosmic Dolphins, but he unfortunately encountered Red Skull and was tricked into coming to Earth.
There was indeed an innocent Cosmic Dolphin on Earth; Red Skull hadn't lied to him about that.
But an even more unfortunate thing happened: The Cosmic Dolphin was swimming in the sea until it curiously swam near Japan, where it was slaughtered by Japanese whaling ships, mistaken for a rare species.
The Corpse of the cosmic being was dismembered and sent to the dining tables of high-ranking officials and noblemen.
It was said to have sold for an exorbitant price.
Lobo, possessing Demigod Combat Power, went mad at that moment. He charged onto the Japanese island with bloodshot eyes, killing frenziedly, slaughtering every living thing within his sight.
Red Skull effortlessly reeled in a Demigod-level Combat Power, causing immense trouble for the Avengers and the Justice League. Truly, Red Skull himself was astonished; he hadn't even had the chance to act against the Cosmic Dolphin when the Japanese thoughtfully provided the perfect assist.
"My great Leader, Ares has been defeated. Superman is too powerful; no one on our side can stop him." A computer suddenly lit up, and an image appeared on the screen.
"There's no need to stop him. My plan never included personally killing Superman."
Red Skull stood quietly, the expression on his face showing no change whatsoever. No one knew what this Hydra Leader was thinking.
"What do you mean, sir?" The face on the computer showed confusion.
Red Skull turned and looked at him, with a cryptic smile. "Zola, it seems even after integrating your Consciousness with a computer, your brain hasn't become any smarter."
"Your humble servant would, of course, never dare to compare himself to the great Leader—you." Zola immediately launched into a string of flattery. It was unclear if he genuinely didn't understand or was merely playing dumb.
But that wasn't important.
"Are there any movements from the Transformers in the Graveyard?" Red Skull asked.
"No. I'm controlling the monitors in that area. They remain motionless in their vehicle forms, already covered in a thick layer of dust."
"That's good. It seems their duties don't include interfering with Earth's affairs... That makes things easier. The biggest problem is solved." Red Skull sneered coldly, a hint of apprehension flashing in his eyes.
He'd have to be crazy to provoke those Metal Beings.
"Batman and Captain America are currently entangled with Winter Soldier; Mandarin is engaging Tony and has the upper hand; powerful Sentinel Robots are tying down troublesome characters like The Flash. Stryker truly did not disappoint me. Agent Coulson is organizing the remnant forces of S.H.I.E.L.D. to attack my outer Base..."
In Red Skull's sinister eyes, a conspiracy was brewing. "That leaves only the captured Grave Demon. Green Arrow and Black Widow are in the process of apprehending Grave Demon. This is the biggest opportunity. What naive fools."
Zola, his sycophant, reminded him, "My Leader, we still have Deathstroke. He's currently engaged in battle with Deadpool, who was hired by the Avengers."
"...Don't even mention those two..." Red Skull's brow twitched violently.
Deathstroke and Deadpool, those two scoundrels were just there for show, pocketing huge sums of remuneration, yet spent their days arm-in-arm, carousing and reveling, then periodically put on a half-hearted fight in public, pretending they were fighting for their lives...
Deathstroke still had some professional ethics, but he was also corrupted by the scoundrel Deadpool. Whichever side paid more, that was their boss. When it came to financial power, who in this world could surpass Iron Man and Batman?
Red Skull threw a lot of money at them, just barely managing to keep those two scumbags neutral to prevent them from being recruited by the other side.
But that was enough.
"Send our people to contact Pierce, the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. An idiot who hasn't accomplished much of anything substantial. It's time he dedicated his last bit of value to Hydra." Red Skull said indifferently.
"Cut off one head, two more shall take its place! Hail Hydra!" Zola shouted the slogan. With a click, the computer shut down.
Red Skull stood in the shadows, his figure indistinct.
"The Avengers kill, the Justice League does not kill. Heh, what foolishly contradictory notions."
Red Skull picked up a glass of red wine. The scarlet color shimmered.
This was a very interesting situation. The Justice League had reached an undisclosed consensus within their ranks. They tended to capture and imprison their enemies alive and then use the law for judgment...
One must know that Earth's laws did not yet possess the ability to judge Demigods and Beings of higher levels, unless the enforcers of the law possessed the power to overwhelmingly suppress Demigods.
Without sufficiently powerful enforcement bodies as backing, any law was nothing more than a scrap of paper.
The Avengers and Justice League served as the enforcement bodies, but they absolutely did not accept the government's command; instead, it was a cooperative relationship.
Suddenly, Red Skull put down his wine glass. With a strange expression, he said, "The new law's name shall be the Superhero Registration Act."
"Your wisdom is astounding, my Leader."
The computer suddenly lit up and then immediately shut down again.
