Chapter 630: Natasha's Death
October 19, 2022 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Dr. Harrison maintained his gentle demeanor, wearing a black sweater—a birthday gift from Barry—which provided excellent warmth.
He gently wiped his glasses, then carefully placed them on the nearby table. He crossed his arms, resting his elbows on the armrests of his wheelchair.
Natasha's face was grim. The chilling sensation froze her in place, her eyes wide as she stared at Dr. Harrison.
"Who exactly are you?" Fine beads of sweat appeared on Natasha's forehead.
Harrison didn't immediately respond. He glanced at the chaotic laboratory, then at his knocked-out assistant, Caitlin, and a smile played on his lips, revealing a set of clean teeth.
"You are doing something very dangerous, Natasha, but this is indeed your style. You are an excellent agent first, and then a superhero. Your ruthlessness is ingrained in your very bones."
Harrison gently tapped a few keys on the keyboard. His artificial intelligence scanned the surroundings, confirming no one was monitoring them.
He slowly stood up, the smile on his face having, at some point, turned sinister and maniacal.
"You—"
Natasha's face changed drastically. She was about to activate the alarm on her person, but in an instant, a blood-red lightning arc flashed, and Dr. Harrison, with a ferocious expression, grabbed her by the throat, lifting her clean off the ground.
"I never wanted to deal with you damn people, but you keep coming after me again and again!!"
"Every single time, you inexplicable people jump out to hinder me!"
Harrison's face was sinister. The suppressed rage and resentment that had been building for too long finally broke free, and he gradually increased the strength in his hand.
Bang!
Natasha punched Harrison in the face, but Harrison didn't even budge. His face was like solid steel, and instead, Natasha's fist stung from the impact.
Natasha's expression twisted into one of horror.
"Speed Force... how could you possibly possess such a thing..." Natasha's throat tightened, her face turning purple.
Crack!
Harrison crushed Natasha's neck and released his grip. The beautiful Black Widow became a corpse, falling limply to the ground.
Black Widow was dead.
The raging red lightning arc surged, only slowly receding after a long while. Dr. Harrison stared gloomily at the corpse at his feet.
"I just want to go home, why is it so hard..." After the rage subsided, Harrison's face was bitter.
He felt a deep bitterness. He had run back from the 25th century, attempting to kill Barry when he was just a few years old, only to be stopped by The Flash who rushed back from the future. A great war, beyond his plans, broke out, and it utterly depleted all the Speed Force he had stored.
In the end, he only managed to kill Barry's mother and exhaust all his Speed Force. It was a complete loss!
He had wasted twenty years in this damned era, with various crises following one after another. Even Avatars of the One-Above-All appeared on Earth, filling Harrison with terror, his sole thought to quickly escape back to his own era.
But Tony becoming the One-Above-All utterly broke him.
With the One-Above-All's true body present, all temporal modifications based on the current situation became futile. No matter how miraculous or powerful the Speed Force was, it couldn't allow Harrison to travel back and forth while dealing with the One-Above-All.
When the Singular Light pierced through the Main Universe, Harrison knew it was over.
He came from the 25th century and knew a great deal about the secrets of the past.
"The future has already changed, the past has become fixed... Why, why would the One-Above-All be born!!! Is this the price for my meddling with time!?"
Harrison's face was twisted.
A long while later, Harrison regained his composure. Reality forced him to risk choosing an even more dangerous plan.
Since the Main Universe's past and future were fixed in place by the New God, Harrison could choose to leave the Main Universe for other universes, and then use the Speed Force to travel to the future.
To locate a parallel universe identical to the Main Universe before the One-Above-All's appearance, within the vast Multiverse, would undoubtedly be a monumental undertaking. However, it was the only remaining way for Harrison to return home.
"Using Tony's deification as a reference point, any parallel universe that branched off before this point in time is my target. Those universes won't change too much in a short period. I need to first pinpoint a universe, then store an immense amount of Speed Force to run over there and kill my counterpart in that universe, and then return to that universe's 25th century..."
Harrison kicked away Natasha's corpse, then sat gloomily in his wheelchair. He commanded Gideon, the artificial intelligence he brought back from the 25th century, to modify the laboratory's recordings to create the illusion that Natasha had been killed by a mysterious person. Then, gritting his teeth, he inflicted wounds on himself, and after confirming everything was correct, feigned unconsciousness.
News of Natasha's murder spread, successfully enraging even more people.
It was well known that Natasha was notorious for her many lovers; ninety percent of the men in the Avengers had slept with her...
Of course, the Justice League didn't escape either; many superheroes had also slept with Natasha.
When the news of her murder spread, it ignited subtle emotions beyond just rage, such as a hint of regret, which only added fuel to the fire.
Furthermore, the recording of Natasha coercing Harrison and others in Central City also spread, sparking the rage of the Justice League.
Superheroes are also people; they are people first, then superheroes—except for Batman, he's the opposite.
The entire Earth descended into chaos. Massive numbers of superheroes clashed, and with supervillains seizing the opportunity to cause trouble, it resulted in numerous civilian deaths and extensive damage to public property.
"The war must end. Several heroes have already died," Captain America said, slamming his fist on the table, an uncharacteristic loss of composure.
"How do we end it? Compromise with them? Then what was the point of all those who died?" Tony's face was grim.
Captain America retorted angrily, "The point is to prevent more people from dying!"
Tony's face was gloomy as he irritably turned off his communicator.
In the battle against the Justice League, he had rendered three sets of armor useless. The combat situation was extremely difficult.
Even the arrogant Tony had to admit that if they didn't have Thor on their side, the Avengers would have been utterly defeated long ago.
Just The Flash alone was enough to make them suffer greatly. His speeds of several thousand times the Speed of Sound far exceeded the limits of what the human body could perceive, forcing them to resort to various sophisticated instruments.
Martian Manhunter's telepathy also left the Avengers in disarray. At one point in the war, there were instances of them suddenly turning to attack their own allies—they had all been controlled by Martian Manhunter's psychic abilities.
Martian Manhunter possessed psychic power that surpassed that of Professor X. If it weren't for the psychic shielding devices prepared in advance, the Avengers would have been completely wiped out long ago.
There was also Batman. His Fenris Armor was simply too strong, having undergone multiple upgrades over the past few months. Aside from Thor, Tony, and Parker, everyone else in the Avengers was utterly vulnerable against the Fenris Armor, which stored thousands of targeted combat strategies.
Hawkman and Hawkgirl of the Justice League were also ancient beings who had reincarnated countless times, possessing fierce combat power. It was only thanks to the First and Second Generation Ant-Man and Wasp that they were held back.
No matter how one looked at it, the Avengers were facing an inevitable disadvantage.
