Chapter 733

Chapter 717: The Onslaught

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Mobius was more anxious and in a fouler mood than anyone.

He had built Mobius's Chair, calculated the whereabouts of the Anti-Life Equation, and successfully obtained it.

But this didn't mean he was invincible.

Because the Anti-Life Equation also needed "nourishment."

This nourishment was all Positive Matter Universes.

The more Positive Matter Universes destroyed, the stronger Mobius would become by utilizing the power of the Anti-Life Equation. As a Destruction Terminal for all life forms in existence, the Anti-Life Equation allowed its Host to maniacally absorb the Energy of Positive Matter Universes to grow stronger.

The one wielding the Anti-Life Equation was destined to be the number one nemesis of all worlds outside the Anti-Matter Universe, a true Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.

The more Positive Matter Universes destroyed, the more powerful the Anti-Life Equation would feedback to the Host.

Logically, Mobius should have embarked on an impressive path, sweeping across the Multiverse, crushing the Gods, and swiftly becoming a Tier Nine Omnipotent Being, comparable to the supreme Singular God.

But reality was cruel, and Mobius found himself in a difficult situation.

He had spent a vast amount of time merely adapting to the Anti-Life Equation. Even so, he was utterly disfigured, his body becoming dry and grey like rock, his face bulging and grotesquely ugly.

The most embarrassing part was being targeted by Apokolips, though he had no idea how the information leaked.

"Who is it that's coming? It's definitely not Darkseid! Could it be his Progeny?" Mobius's face was grim as he subconsciously touched his stiff, bloated features, his eyes revealing both ambition and rage.

He didn't care about his appearance; he was simply enraged that he had spent so much time and Energy to obtain the Anti-Life Equation, and before he could even properly use it, a bunch of bastards came knocking to cause him trouble.

"First Steppenwolf, and now Darkseid's Progeny... those bastards from Apokolips! Can't they just be as well-behaved as the New Gods?!"

Mobius was furious. He was on the verge of embarking on a path that could make him one of the Supreme Beings, yet there were always fellows jumping out to stop him.

He hadn't even started destroying Positive Matter Universes, and he already had so much trouble.

If everyone could be as well-behaved as Tony, staying in that tiny corner of the Prime Universe, there would be no trouble at all. Well, at least Mobius wouldn't have any trouble.

After a long while, Mobius, still grim-faced, slowly rose.

He put back on his ugly, tin-can-like armor – of course, Mobius himself didn't find the armor ugly.

But from an Earthling's aesthetic perspective, it was absolutely hideous.

A heavy, fully enclosed helmet covered his head, barely concealing his swollen cranium.

Mobius clenched his fists, feeling the unfamiliar armor. After a moment of silence, he left Qward and vanished from the spot.

...

In the vast Anti-Matter Universe, Grail and Thane were carefully traversing. Both were incredibly nervous; this was an unfamiliar Universe.

Even Grail had never been to this Anti-Matter Universe. Grail was fine, with Darkseid's blood flowing in her veins, giving her extraordinary adaptability to harsh environments, but Thane was far worse off.

The ubiquitous Anti-Matter Energy made Thane, a Positive Matter Life Form, very uncomfortable.

"We must be cautious; this Universe is very dangerous and harbors many terrifying beings," Grail said carefully. "And Steppenwolf actually came here too, and even lost a clone..."

She became increasingly convinced that there truly was a powerful force hidden here, a force so potent that even Steppenwolf, a Singular God, was tempted.

"Aren't you worried Tony is lying to us?" Thane whispered.

Grail said faintly, "Firstly, he has no need to do so. Secondly, I am of use to him. Thirdly... even if he lied, at that moment I would have to believe it was true; I had no choice."

Thane fell silent.

In that situation, they had no choice but to believe, because Tony said so, and because Tony had the power to kill them.

Thinking of the Phoenix Egg taken by Tony, Thane felt a surge of resentment; it should have been theirs.

The two moved cautiously and silently through the Anti-Matter Universe. They didn't know they had already been detected by the greatly empowered Mobius, continuing their quiet traversal, searching for more clues.

But Mobius had already left Qward. He wasn't willing to engage in a direct conflict with Apokolips at this time; it would expose him further.

Killing one Steppenwolf was nothing, as Steppenwolf had many clones, and even if Mobius didn't kill him, many clones would fall in Other Universes.

And Level Seven clones were not valuable.

However, killing Grail, who carried Darkseid's aura, would undoubtedly stir up a hornet's nest. Grail had no clones; if she died, she was truly gone.

So Mobius chose to retreat, actively leaving Qward and heading to the Prime Universe. There, the Sinestro Corps was attacking the Green Lantern Corps, providing him a perfectly legitimate excuse to leave the Anti-Matter Universe.

The Anti-Monitor himself, existing in opposition to the Prime Monitor, personally moved to the Prime Universe, a move destined to cause massive repercussions.

...

Prime Universe.

Sinestro led his Legion in a relentless sweep, savagely attacking the Green Lantern Corps, directly resulting in the death of a large number of Green Lanterns.

Green Lanterns with the Yellow Impurity were utterly vulnerable against the Sinestro Corps. These warriors of firm willpower, however, were unable to use lethal force, often defeating enemies on the battlefield but unable to kill them. The opponents only needed a short recovery before immediately rejoining the war.

They courted death.

When the Yellow Lantern Corps, formed as a structured fighting force, launched an attack on Oa using the Prime Universe as a battlefield, the Green Lantern Corps, still firmly restrained by the Guardians of the Universe, was simply no match.

The sudden great war shocked the entire Universe and particularly rattled the decadent Oa. The seven Guardians issued an emergency conscription order to all Lanterns, commanding them to immediately come to Oa to confront Sinestro's Fear Legion.

But this was another blunder; the scattered Green Lanterns were attacked by Yellow Lanterns roaming the Universe, resulting in heavy casualties.

The killing intent-filled, bloodthirsty Sinestro Corps left the Guardians scrambling. In the past ten billion years, they had never faced a Yellow Lantern Corps that perfectly countered the Green Lantern Corps.

The various measures the Guardians had implemented to firmly control the Green Lantern Corps had now become the shovels digging their own grave.

"We must lift the control over all Green Lanterns!"

"If we relinquish control once, it will be troublesome to shackle them again!"

"I'm not worried about lifting the restriction on lethal force. I'm more concerned about the Yellow Impurity... if the Yellow Impurity is resolved, what will we use to deal with the Green Lantern Corps if they revolt in the future?"

The Guardians debated fiercely.
