Chapter 727: Captive
In fact, simultaneously wearing two Power Rings that counteract each other is an incredibly difficult task that tests one's willpower and perseverance.
Willpower and Fear are opposing emotions, second only to the Black Lantern and White Lantern on the Emotional Spectrum. Without a third Power Ring to mediate, directly wearing both the green and yellow rings and allowing them to touch would undoubtedly unleash a power akin to Mars crashing into Earth.
However, the user must first be able to withstand this impact, or else they will be brainwashed into an imbecile by the clashing Emotional Energy.
This was the first time Optimus Prime had worn two Power Rings at once, simultaneously connecting to the Central Power Batteries of both the Green Lantern Corps and the Yellow Lantern Corps, unrestrictedly amplifying his own Psychic Abilities and emotional power.
"Sinestro, the Power you seek, I now possess it as well."
Optimus Prime slowly raised his arm, curling his other fingers to leave only his index and middle fingers extended. An interwoven green and yellow light emanated from them, casting an eerie glow in the dark, boundless Space.
Optimus Prime was using his powerful Spirit to forcibly suppress the instinctual conflict and confrontation between the Green Light of Willpower and the Yellow Light of Fear, forcing the two to combine.
Sinestro's face twitched violently, his mood turning foul. "Those who try to control Fear with Willpower never come to a good end."
"No, I am accepting Fear."
A faint creaking sound seemed to emanate from Optimus Prime's Chassis, though it might have been an illusion, like an indescribable psychic voice. He was rapidly adapting to this change.
As they stared each other down, the two clashed again in the center of the battlefield, beginning the second round of their confrontation. This time, Sinestro lost all his advantages. Under the dual enhancement of Consciousness and Fear, he was completely suppressed.
The Lantern Ring is a wondrous power. No matter how weak a Life Form is, they can activate the Lantern Ring by intensely stimulating a single Emotion, granting the user extraordinary power.
When each Emotion is amplified, it reveals its own unique uses and advantages. By using both the Green Lantern's and Yellow Lantern's power against Sinestro, Optimus Prime had gained the complete upper hand.
The flames of Emotion burned fiercely. Optimus Prime stood like a Giant, looking down on the tiny Sinestro. His calm eyes were like a bottomless vortex, devouring any gaze that dared to pry.
His open palm descended like a crashing planet, smashing down toward the diminutive Sinestro with the force of billions of tons.
Sinestro let out an enraged roar, putting forth all his strength, but his Yellow Lantern Ring finally sent him the message that it was overwhelmed. Sinestro's Emotion was no longer enough to force the ring to exert any more power.
Sinestro had lost. He had lost to the very student he himself had trained.
"You will spend the rest of your life on Cybertron, atoning for your mistakes in the Darkness."
Optimus Prime shattered Sinestro's energy shield and snatched him up in his giant steel palm. The immense force made Sinestro's bones creak continuously, as if they would snap at any moment, and blood began to spill from his mouth.
"Heh, hehehe..."
Sinestro grinned, blood flowing freely from the corners of his mouth, revealing blood-stained teeth in a savage expression. "Do you really think I'll be locked up in Prison forever? Do you really think Tony will tolerate me dying silently in a Prison? Don't be naive. He has his own detailed plan. As long as I still have value, not only will I not die, I'll be very safe... Otherwise, the one coming to rescue Oa wouldn't have been you, but him."
"Eliminating threats down to the root, that's Tony's style. But it's not yours..." Sinestro laughed silently.
Optimus Prime lowered his head, leaning in closer. His brow furrowed deeply. After a pause, he said, "I know all about his plans. I am one of the executors of this grand plan."
Sinestro's expression froze.
"So, your petty attempts at manipulation are useless on me. You really aren't that important. Tony didn't come, not because you have value, but for the exact opposite reason. To him, your usefulness is infinitely close to zero... Your scheme has failed."
"You once told me that in this world, only Might and knowledge are true assets. Now, I return those words to you. Sinestro, you're finished."
Optimus Prime squeezed hard. Sinestro let out a piercing scream amidst his desperate struggles and fell unconscious. Optimus carefully removed the Power Ring from his hand and placed it in his own palm.
With a series of clicks and clanks, a cluster of metal parts assembled into a sealed sphere, trapping Sinestro inside. Without his Power Ring, Sinestro was just a Mortal and had absolutely no way of escaping.
He turned his head to survey the battlefield, which was still locked in a stalemate. His cold gaze swept over every Yellow Lantern, each wearing a different expression.
Finally, among the Yellow Lanterns who were distracted by the loss of their leader, the first deserter appeared. He turned into a streak of yellow light and vanished into the depths of the boundless Universe.
A Lantern flying at top speed in Space would be a major headache for anyone trying to catch them.
All the members of Sinestro's Legion received the news of his defeat. Their cunning gazes flickered as they furtively exchanged glances. These selfish individuals all made the same choice simultaneously: run.
No one chose to remain loyal to Sinestro, and no fool was about to rush over and attack Optimus Prime to rescue their Chieftain.
This bunch of individuals, who were far more criminals than Heroes, only respected Might. With Sinestro, their pillar of strength, gone, they abandoned their Chieftain without a second thought and fled in every direction.
"All Green Lanterns, attention! Hunt down the remnants of Sinestro's forces. This is the Highest Directive. Do not let a single life form using a Yellow Lantern Ring escape. Uncontrolled Fear will only lead to more tragedy."
Optimus Prime activated the communication system of his Green Lantern Ring and spoke to all the Green Lanterns on the battlefield.
He brushed aside the Guardians who were surrounding Duzun, completely ignoring and bypassing them to issue orders to the other Lanterns.
As the Lanterns pursued the unlucky stragglers who hadn't escaped in time, they couldn't help but hesitate for a moment, their gazes sweeping, intentionally or not, over the Supreme Lanterns.
No one was a fool; it was just that no one had ever considered it before. The prestige and impartiality of the Guardians had always been deeply ingrained in their hearts, and they had never doubted them.
But now, looking at their former teammates transformed into Supreme Lanterns, anyone who wasn't a complete fool would start to consider some terrifying possibilities.
Not to mention those red Robots...
After a moment's hesitation, the majority chose to obey Optimus Prime's command, flying off in groups into the depths of the Universe to hunt down the remnants of Sinestro's Legion.
A small number of Green Lanterns chose to remain, following the Supreme Lanterns to continue the siege against Duzun.
The nine remaining Supreme Lanterns shot Optimus Prime a cold and cruel glance but said nothing, immediately leading their contingent back into the battle to besiege Duzun.
Meanwhile, the outcome of the battle between Megatron and Superboy-Prime was gradually becoming clear.
Megatron was at a disadvantage.
