Chapter 298: The Banished Thor

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

"Why did you summon me back? I was defending my home!"

"You scoundrel, you can't even protect your own friends, what makes you think you can protect your home? Send them to the infirmary at once!"

Odin was furious, his vast Divine Power, like an ocean, surged wildly with the ancient God-King's Rage, unleashing a terrifying oppressive aura.

He drew his sword that controls the Rainbow Bridge, and hurled it forcefully before Heimdall, who caught it without a word.

"But if you keep retreating, Asgard will have nothing left to protect. Those greedy Frost Giants will take everything from us!"

The golden-haired Thor argued vehemently, his lion-like face displaying youthful vigor and defiance towards his father.

After the Frost Giants infiltrated Asgard's Treasury and were killed by the top-tier Armor, the "Destroyer," Thor, on his own initiative, took his companions and charged towards Jotunheim, one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil, engaging in a massive fight with the Frost Giants.

Many Frost Giants were killed by Thor, but the cost was also great. The Giant Chieftain Laufey easily defeated Thor, and if Odin hadn't intervened in time, Thor's fate would have been dire.

Being imprisoned by his mortal enemy would have been the best outcome.

Thor shouted loudly, "The Giants of Jotunheim must learn to fear me, just as they feared you in your prime!"

"This is your vanity at play, not the demeanor of a king. I have taught you, yet you repeatedly wear my patience thin!" Odin struck the ground forcefully with Gungnir in his hand, his voice filled with Rage.

Thor raised his head, his lion-like eyes staring directly at the master of Asgard, saying, "When you were patient, the entire Nine Realms openly mocked us! The old ways no longer work. Even with Asgard crumbling, you still cling to outdated methods!"

Thor indignantly stretched out his thick arm and, turning sharply, pointed. Divine Power of Thunder involuntarily erupted. That direction was towards the Rainbow Bridge, the entrance to the Nine Realms.

"We should, like you in your prime, earn respect through force!"

"That fellow on Earth, a Mortal, barely in his twenties, yet he defeated Dormammu and banished Mephisto! If he can do it, why can't I? I, Thor, will do better than him! Asgard's status needs to be maintained. Asgard is the true Guardian of the Nine Realms!"

"Hmph, so you're jealous? You, a fifteen-hundred-year-old son of Odin, jealous of a self-made Mortal from Earth?" Odin looked down upon his most outstanding Offspring, his face showing undisguised disappointment.

Such a Thor, jealous and petty, fierce and belligerent, arrogant and conceited, stubborn and self-willed, almost ignited a grand war across the entire Nine Realms.

Thor had spent years suppressing rebellions throughout Yggdrasil, his glorious military achievements and bravery long renowned across the Nine Realms. In terms of martial prowess, he was certainly capable. Once Odin passed away, and he inherited the "Odinforce" accumulated by Odin throughout his life, he could instantly become a True God.

But besides his martial prowess and courage, Thor was unworthy of Asgard's throne in every other aspect, much less fit to lead the mighty Asgard.

How could such a son possibly lead the Asgardians?

And how could he possibly contend with the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth?

Odin recalled the scene not long ago when he first communicated with that young Sorcerer Supreme, a rare hint of apprehension appeared in his eyes.

Cunning, ruthless, cold-blooded, and… a burgeoning ambition lurking deep within his heart.

That young man named Tony might not be the best Guardian, but he possessed the finest qualities of an expansionist.

Thinking this, Odin's gaze towards Thor grew even more disappointed.

Such a Thor, all brawn and no brains, would sooner or later be devoured by Tony, leaving not even bone fragments, essentially played to death.

Asgard might very well become that fellow's vassal state.

What's more, in terms of martial power, Thor was utterly crushed by Tony.

That look of disappointment completely stung Thor's sensitive pride.

This young God of Thunder, this new king about to ascend the throne, his eyes turned red.

"Father, I have never been jealous of that Mortal, I believe I can do better than him! Give me Asgard's army, I only need half a year... no, a month, and I can conquer Jotunheim!" Thor roared.

"Silence! You vain, insatiable, and cruel and cold-blooded child!"

"Then you're a foolish old man!!!" Thor's face turned red and his neck strained, as he panted heavily.

Time stopped at this moment.

Everyone was stunned.

Including the guards, including the eavesdropping Loki, including Odin, and even... Thor himself.

Odin slowly lowered his head. After a long silence, a low voice emerged: "Indeed, I was foolish. I naively thought you were worthy. If the Frost Giants hadn't infiltrated Asgard and interrupted your ascension ceremony, you would already be a new king by now..."

The God-King seemed to have aged many years, and the Divine Power around him began to fall silent.

"Thor Odinson, you have defied my orders. Your arrogance and foolishness have brought war and destruction upon innocent subjects."

Odin picked up Gungnir and thrust it forcefully into the ground device, opening the Rainbow Bridge, a super Portal.

"You are unworthy of your subjects! Unworthy of your title! You are not worthy!" Odin personally ripped off all symbols of honor from his son's body, his Cape, his royal adornments.

"Aren't you resentful of that Sorcerer Supreme from Earth? Didn't you say you could do better? I, Odin, the God-King, give you this chance!"

"I strip you of all your Divine Power, in the name of the House of Odin, in the name of Odin, All-Father, and banish you, exiling you to Earth!"

"From this day forward, you shall forever be a Mortal, no longer the God of Thunder!"

"From this day forward, you shall have the opportunity you desired, to begin anew on Earth as a Mortal!"

"From this day forward, take your arrogance and hubris, your pettiness and cruelty, and leave this place!"

The Rainbow Bridge suddenly opened, the powerful device, a blend of technology and Magic, immediately forcibly swallowed the astonished God of Thunder, creating a beautiful, colorful Portal in the dark Universe.

"Father!" Loki rushed out in panic, shouting loudly.

Odin's face was solemn, ignoring Loki. He bent down, picked up Mjolnir, the symbol of the God of Thunder, and cast a Spell upon it.

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess... the power of Thor!"

Having said that, amidst the cries of alarm from Loki and others, Odin forcefully threw Mjolnir towards the Rainbow Bridge.

This hammer, imbued with powerful Magic Power, instantly vanished into the Portal, losing all trace along with Thor.
