Chapter 301: From This Day Forward, a Mortal
October 19, 2022 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Thor rushed in like a madman, bursting in frantically, overturning more than a dozen Agents along the way.
Even though he had been stripped of his Divine Power, his powerful physique still granted him considerable strength. The power unleashed by his muscular arms in an instant was enough to send elite Agents flying.
But at best, he was a Captain America Level figure, unable to withstand even a single bullet.
At Agent Coulson's signal, S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel no longer blocked Thor.
Thor, disheveled and with bloodshot eyes, rushed in, enduring the pouring rain, as if he had lost the most important and cherished thing in his life.
The arrogant Thor saw a young man in black robes, who, under the flashing lightning and roaring thunder, and with everyone around him bowing in reverence, held up Mjolnir high, an imposing figure looking down upon the world.
The hammer, a symbol of Asgardian power and authority.
Terrifying, overwhelming Lightning Bolts were conjured out of thin air, violently erupting continuously, tearing through the sky, illuminating the black Earth, and painting it a terrifying blue.
"No! That's my hammer!"
Thor gasped for breath, savagely clutching his chest, letting out a desperate cry.
Agent Coulson's expression changed, and he immediately stared intently at the disheveled Thor, a mix of surprise and uncertainty in his eyes.
This man, was he the legendary Thor? Was he the Deity who influenced Human history?
At this moment, Thor was like an enraged Beast, his last shred of Sanity completely overwhelmed. Ignoring the torrential rain and the astonishing Lightning Bolts constantly drawn in by the hammer, he raised his fist and fiercely lunged at the thief!
This was his hammer!
Mjolnir, it was Thor's Hammer, his own hammer!
Other than him and his father Odin, no one else had the right to touch this hammer!
Absolutely no one!!!
Bang!!!
A punch thrown with all of Thor's Power landed squarely on Tony's face, leaving large patches of mud on Tony's body from the rain and grime he hadn't yet shaken off.
Yet, Tony was unharmed by this full-force punch, as if he were an indestructible piece of steel. As he took the blow, onlookers could clearly hear a "clang."
Tony acted as if nothing had happened, holding the hammer in one hand, while extending his other hand to gently grip Thor's wrist and pry it open little by little.
He had to be careful. Under the impact of the immense Divine Power, his body's Energy had also become chaotic. Tony couldn't even accurately gauge his own physical metrics and was worried that with just a little more force, he might crush Thor's wrist.
A Sorcerer Supreme whose Power exceeded a hundred tons, facing a Thor who was only marginally stronger than an Ordinary Human, had the right to be this cautious.
Yet, this cautious demeanor and indifferent expression made him seem like a lofty Creator God, utterly disregarding the bites of a common ant.
Thor was no stranger to such an attitude; he had treated many ignorant people with this very demeanor during his conquests across the Nine Realms.
He had always carried his hammer, showing the ignorant what it meant to be Thor, what it meant to be the Son of Odin.
"Thor, Son of Odin?"
Tony pried Thor's wrist open. In his other hand, he held the hammer, crackling with lightning and thunder, looking more like Thor than Thor himself.
With black attire, the sky filled with Lightning Bolts, and surging Divine Power, Tony at this moment appeared far more like Thor than Thor did.
Or rather, the moment he lifted Mjolnir, he already *was* Thor.
Tony looked at the disgraced prince indifferently, quietly confirming his identity, a strange smile playing on his lips.
"You thief!" Thor roared savagely, his eyes bloodshot, like a maddened Beast!
Even Jane, who had hurried in after him, was terrified by the sight!
"Stop this! He just got out of a mental hospital; he's a patient!" Jane's mind reacted quickly, and she immediately shouted.
Thor tried to lunge forward again, but this time, Tony directly kicked him in the stomach.
With a heavy blow, Thor cried out in pain, clutching his stomach as he collapsed to the ground, unable to get up.
Even more painful than his physical wounds was his inner turmoil.
Only Odin and Thor could lift Mjolnir, but at this moment, he had lost his hammer.
Thor remembered Odin's words to him: that he would be stripped of everything and made a Mortal from then on.
Odin's words had come true: from this day forward, he was a Mortal, no longer a Deity.
"This man is Thor?" Agent Coulson watched the impetuous, frail blonde strongman with a deep frown, his eyes betraying undisguised disappointment and relief.
Disappointment, because the legendary Deities were such pathetic, easily defeated figures, creating a sense of myth shattered and faded. Relief, because if Deities were truly this caliber, Earthlings would undoubtedly have the confidence to obliterate them.
Although Agent Coulson didn't understand the specific reasons, he guessed it had something to do with the hammer in Tony's hand.
Truthfully, Agent Coulson coveted the hammer, which caused the phenomena of lightning and thunder, and Hydra coveted it even more. They all wanted it, but the moment they thought of Tony's ruthless demeanor, they didn't dare to ponder further.
What could they do? Act like heroes from a TV show, immediately jump out and accuse Tony of seizing public property and persecuting the innocent? Don't be ridiculous; that's the appropriate behavior for someone Overly Compassionate.
Dare to treat Tony like that, and that guy Tony would absolutely dare to strangle the speaker on the spot, believe it or not?
"Thor, as you are now, you have none of the prestige you once held conquering the Nine Realms." Tony squatted down, carefully observing this future Guardian of Earth. He had to admit, he felt a touch of disappointment.
No wonder Odin had sent him to Earth for tempering; with such a temperament, he deserved to be led around by Loki. There's a type of monarch called a 'deluded ruler,' and Thor was probably just such a person.
Obstinate, arrogant, and impulsive, he acted without thinking.
Tony looked up at Agent Coulson, saw the complex expression in his eyes, and sneered.
Never underestimate a politician's shamelessness.
Because, to a large extent, politicians don't strive for themselves, but for the vested interest groups behind them. If you don't strive, you die, and someone else takes your place.
"Agent Coulson, put away your improper thoughts. No matter how disgraced Thor is, he is still the Offspring of Odin. If you provoke Odin, a hundred S.H.I.E.L.D.s wouldn't be enough for him to kill – and I won't step in for you idiots who can't tell what's important."
Tony sneered and patted Agent Coulson's face, whispering a sentence to him. Ignoring the latter's constricted pupils and fleeting shock, he cast a warning gaze at the Agents behind Agent Coulson, including the Hydra spies.
The entanglement between HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. had begun since World War II. S.H.I.E.L.D. had long been riddled with holes, thoroughly infiltrated by a quietly developing Hydra.
With a *thud*, Tony deliberately placed the violently agitated hammer in front of Thor. Looking down at the God whose eyes were dull with despair, he stated calmly, "The hammer is here. As long as you can lift it, it will be yours again."
Thor's eyes immediately regained their luster, then erupted with astonishing vitality. He lifted his head, seemingly intent on engraving Tony's face into his memory, then looked at the hammer on the ground. Gradually, a wild, arrogant laugh, characteristic of Thor, spread across his face.
He had wielded this hammer for over a millennium; he knew everything about this hammer!
Alas, the hammer didn't budge an inch.
Thor's expression suddenly changed, turning to one of terror, then despair.
"No! Father! Why is this happening?!" Unwilling to give up, Thor tried again, putting his entire body's Power into it, yet the hammer still didn't budge an inch.
Thor collapsed.
"Why, Father, would you rather give Mjolnir to a stranger than to me?!"
Thor let out a bitter laugh, utterly disheartened, and slumped to the ground. The last vestige of his Spirit had completely vanished from his heart.
Stripped of his Divine Power by Odin, Thor had believed that he could recover simply by lifting the hammer. But now, he didn't even have the right to lift the hammer...
He was finished.
From this day forward, he would forever be a Mortal, never again Thor.
Tony casually extended a hand and, with some effort, picked up Mjolnir, feeling the rampant Divine Power within it. He then glanced at the bewildered and despairing Thor and shook his head.
A golden Portal slowly opened, and Tony stepped inside.
"Thor, I'm taking this hammer. As you are now, you're simply unworthy of it. When you truly possess the heart of a king, I will give you another chance to lift this hammer."
"Remember, you only get one chance, and this will be the last."
"And my name is Tony, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. When you feel you have the ability to lift the hammer, you can come find me anytime."
"If you fail again, this Mjolnir will forever belong to me. This is the curse of Odin. That I can even give you one chance is already an act of charity."
Tony's voice, laden with unknown meaning, echoed in the air, conveying his message to the stunned Thor and everyone else present.
