Chapter 315

Chapter 307: Slaughter

Time Remnants are a very interesting thing, and at the same time, a great tragedy. This is a method of self-replication, pulling oneself from a straight-moving timeline.

From an instant of time stagnation, one-hundred-millionth of a second of oneself is pulled out, ultimately becoming two selves: one the original, and one the Time Remnant. This is a highly advanced method of replication. Genes, cells, soul, memories, thoughts—all are exactly the same, because a Time Remnant is oneself from one trillionth of a second ago.

Even the distinction between the so-called original and the remnant is inappropriate; both are the same self, the same self on the same timeline.

Savitar, who claims to be the God of Speed, is actually a product of Time Remnants. This is also the fundamental reason Savitar was born and embarked on a path of extreme madness and brutality.

One day, as The Flash, Barry Allen, was routinely fighting crime, a man in a futuristic armor suddenly appeared. He glowed with white light, moving at a speed Barry couldn't even glimpse a shadow of, and in front of Barry, killed Barry's beloved.

This man, completely encased in armor, called himself Savitar.

Barry, having lost his beloved, was almost driven mad and used every means to seek revenge. But Savitar's speed was thousands, even tens of thousands of times his own; no matter how desperately Barry tried, he couldn't catch a glimpse of Savitar.

Finally, one day in the future, Barry found a way to defeat Savitar: by frantically creating a massive number of Time Remnants.

Savitar and countless Barrys from a certain universe erupted into a fierce battle at the End of Time. Even with the Speed Force Wall participating, the vast majority of Time Remnants died. Ultimately, Savitar only let one heavily injured Time Remnant Barry escape before being locked into the Speed Force Prison by the original Barry.

Then, the tragedy began.

The last surviving Time Remnant Barry became an anomaly in the eyes of others. Everyone knew he was a Time Remnant, but since the true Barry still existed, he became superfluous.

Even though he himself was Barry, identical to Barry in every way, the moment he was pulled from the timeline by Barry, he was destined to be a tragedy.

A hero full of love and protection was shunned by everyone; familiar friends and relatives all avoided him.

This Time Remnant Barry, who had lost the meaning of his existence, eventually went mad. He traveled through all of human history searching for the meaning of his existence, but found nothing. During this long process, his heart slowly became twisted and corrupted.

Finally, this Time Remnant Barry suddenly had an epiphany. He traveled through time, returning to the past, and built a futuristic armor for himself.

He wanted revenge.

He abandoned his old name and used the name of his enemy, calling himself Savitar.

He returned to that critical point in time, killed his past self's beloved, and was then sought for revenge by his past self. His past self finally found a way to defeat him: by creating a massive number of Time Remnants and, along with the Speed Force Wall, besieging him at the End of Time.

He killed the vast majority of Time Remnants, leaving only one heavily injured, and then he was locked into the Speed Force Prison by his past self.

That heavily injured Time Remnant then continuously lost its sense of existence, its mind slowly twisting...

This is a Time Remnant; this is the terrifying Time Paradox. Even Speedsters, even the Speed Force Wall, were powerless against a destined outcome born from countless coincidences.

This is also why Savitar could only be imprisoned, not eliminated.

Savitar is no longer a specific person, but a special symbol of designation. If one Savitar dies, thousands upon thousands of speedsters await to inherit the title of Savitar.

The Speed Force Wall cannot kill its creator, and Barry himself is a part of the Time Paradox. Killing or not killing is meaningless.

Across countless timelines, Savitar's birth is already destined. As long as Barry lives, Savitar is bound to exist. But how could Barry, the one who created the Speed Force Wall, die? The Speed Force Wall can tolerate countless Barrys dying, but absolutely cannot tolerate all Barrys in the Multiverse dying.

Otherwise, who would create it?

If the Savitar of this universe is killed, new Savitars will continuously be born in other universes, creating more tragedies.

Savitar, once The Flash Barry Allen, full of love and protection, ultimately transformed into a ruthless monster.

And this so-called God of Mars before Tony was merely a fragment of power leaked by Hallenmeier when he exterminated all Martians in the Multiverse, recorded by the timeline and thus born.

A pathetic timeline copy.

"Hallenmeier, why did you exterminate your worshipers?" Tony asked calmly, looking up at the giant-like ethereal figure.

The giant shook his head, his thoughts somewhat muddled and unclear. He frowned, muttering fragmented words, then suddenly reacted, a fierce glint appearing in his eyes.

"Ant, die!" the giant roared, his face filled with irritability and pain, as his massive arm swung down, grabbing at Tony.

The Allspark suddenly flashed brightly, and massive energy particles surged forth, instantly shattering the seemingly sky-obscuring giant hand.

Tony's expression remained unchanged. He could use magic, but similarly, the Allspark could also be his means of combat.

Magic energy is a type of energy particle, and so is the Allspark.

Allspark energy, comparable to creation particles, once used as a weapon to annihilate every quark and even tinier life particle of an enemy at a microscopic level, produces terrifying effects.

Just as Tony had instantly pulverized a mountain earlier, this giant's body was also slowly vanishing.

"What a pity, a fellow without even a complete consciousness..." Tony sighed, feeling a touch of unavoidable regret.

The giant let out a roar, filled with indignation. "I am a god, I want to become the one true god! How could I be... by you, a lowly being..."

Tony's eyebrows suddenly twitched, and he pressed, "What did you say? The one true god? You exterminated the Martians to become the one true god?"

"Awooo..." The giant painfully howled, his eyes filled with frenzy, as his entire being lunged towards Tony.

Tony sighed helplessly, circling the giant and occasionally asking a few more questions, but gaining nothing.

"This giant is completely worthless now. His original form was clearly a god of flame and darkness, yet now he only knows how to use physical attacks..."

After asking one last persistent question, Tony simply dealt the killing blow, completely annihilating this pathetic giant.

The ground was a mess. Perhaps many years later, Earth's scientists would observe it, but as for what kind of ripples it would create, that had nothing to do with Tony.

Tony found a spot, sat down, and began to ponder carefully. He felt as if he had grasped something.
