Chapter 314: Thor's Overpowered Trait
Loki indeed paid no mind to Mephisto, much less Mjolnir. He seized the opportunity to directly dispatch the Destroyer to find Thor.
The God of Mischief knew well that he couldn't even lift Mjolnir, much less go to Kamar-Taj to snatch it.
That day, when Tony descended upon S.H.I.E.L.D. and lifted Mjolnir, Loki was actually watching from a distance, refraining from approaching out of caution. His caution was justified; if he had dared to approach, Tony would have undoubtedly taken drastic measures to capture him and bring him back.
Tony's brutal display of might when pulling out Mjolnir made Loki extremely wary. Compared to that, it was naturally much simpler and easier to kill Thor, with no need to directly enrage Earth's Guardian.
"My brother, you must pay the price for your foolishness."
Loki sat high on Asgard's throne, his expression elated. His cunning eyes held a hint of complexity, but he forcefully suppressed it in an instant, replacing it with ruthlessness.
Sitting on the throne, he held the Spear of Eternity, remotely controlling Asgard's strongest armor, the Destroyer. He used the Bifrost to directly air-drop it to New Mexico, where it found Thor living with Jane and others.
At this moment, Thor was wearing an apron and cooking. He neatly arranged the freshly made doughnuts on a plate, a smile gracing his lips.
Thor, more than ever before, seemed like an ordinary human. His heart at this moment was calmer than the peaceful, languid ocean under a blue sky.
His fiery heart had gradually faded away, at most occasionally stirring a shallow ripple on the blue ocean, bringing with it a cool breeze.
"Thor!"
Four people, dressed in ancient attire and holding Melee Weapons, excitedly pounded on the glass, calling out to the King in their hearts.
His four loyal comrades had a falling out with Loki, who had presumptuously seated himself on the throne. They used the Bifrost to arrive on Earth a step ahead. Kamar-Taj, monitoring this scene, chose to remain indifferent under Tony's prior instructions.
"Odin above, my friends!" Thor was stunned for a moment, then immediately overwhelmed by an immense sense of happiness and ecstatic emotions. He rushed forward, embracing them tightly and patting them forcefully.
Jane was almost scared stiff. The cup in her hand fell to the ground, smashing into fragments. "They're... I'm not dreaming, am I...?"
Volstagg, the tallest among them, stepped forward and boldly said, "We are Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. Thank you for looking after Thor."
The heroic and spirited Sif looked at Thor with a hint of a strange gaze and said, "We've come to take you back. Heimdall is watching here and can take us back at any time, but your brother Loki..."
"What happened to Loki?" Thor frowned slightly, but still asked with a smile.
"Loki has become the new King, and he will lead Asgard back to its peak! As for you, you must die!"
A roar descended from the sky. Its extremely penetrating sound waves shattered the glass, causing Jane and the others to scream. A pitch-black, sealed metal being slowly walked towards the RV.
Taking advantage of Mephisto and Blackheart's appearance, which had attracted Tony's attention, the cunning Loki gave up attacking Kamar-Taj and instead chose to directly eliminate Thor and his companions.
He had allowed Sif and the Warriors Three to go to Earth precisely so he could wipe them all out in one swoop.
The nearly three-meter-tall Destroyer caused a faint tremor with every step it took on the ground. Its humanoid form, however, could hardly conceal its prehistoric monster-like intimidating power.
Asgard's strongest weapon, the Destroyer, had descended upon Earth for the first time, and it was also the first time it had made a move against a direct descendant of the Asgardian God-King.
"The Destroyer...? How can this thing be here? Who is using it, Loki, is it you? I heard your voice!"
And furthermore... why would Loki want to kill him?!
"Loki usurped the throne!" Hogun, one of the Warriors Three, said through gritted teeth. "He took advantage of Odin falling into slumber, secretly seized the Spear of Eternity, and announced to the people that he would inherit Asgard's God-King position! He sent the Destroyer here to kill you!"
A beam of energy suddenly blasted out from the Destroyer's face, instantly blowing up the RV. Fortunately, everyone inside had run out beforehand, so there were no casualties.
"Because that old geezer Odin was unjust, and also because you were foolish! You took things worth cherishing for granted, yet never once considered my feelings." Loki said softly.
Of course, Thor couldn't hear this. Loki would never reveal his inner thoughts to anyone.
"Listen, Loki, no matter what wrong I've done to you, no matter what I did to cause all of this, I still apologize to you. But the others are innocent; I hope you spare them... If your inner rage cannot be appeased, then kill me and end all of this."
Thor stepped forward alone, stopping the others' dissuasion and show of force, slowly opening his arms.
Though dressed in Earth's popular attire, it could not conceal his demeanor as the God of Thunder.
Thor, alone, faced the Destroyer directly.
Loki pondered for a moment, then made his response.
With a simple response, the Destroyer sent Thor flying with a single punch, knocking down a large tree and causing Thor, as a mortal, to spit out a mouthful of blood with a gasp.
Jane screamed "No," and ran over in a panic, anxiously and fearfully looking at Thor. "How are you?"
"It's all over..." Thor spat out more blood, feeling a brief reprieve as he clearly felt his life ebbing away.
"No it won't, absolutely not!"
"I mean, this way you'll be safe. After Loki kills me, he'll control the Destroyer Armor and leave. He wouldn't dare kill innocent people on Earth."
Thor's face was riddled with wounds, and his internal organs were damaged. With a mortal body, it was impossible to withstand a single blow from the Destroyer and remain safe and sound.
He was not far from death...
Jane cried loudly in sorrow, and Sif and the others also rushed forward, red-eyed, to desperately fight the Destroyer.
It seemed to be a sorrowful ending.
But this ending was for ordinary humans. For a guy like Thor, who had backing, it was merely an insignificant threshold.
The deep-scheming Odin, in his slumber, observed everything, and a single tear silently fell. His arrogant, impulsive son calmly accepted his own death, using his death to exchange for the innocent ones' chance at survival.
Well, in Odin's view, this was actually very foolish. This approach of placing hope on an opponent's benevolent character was utterly stupid. But for Thor, who had lost his divine power, it was truly rare and commendable.
The old God-King was very pleased. He felt that exiling Thor to Earth, the most complex and populous planet, was the most correct action. As soon as the God-King was pleased, he would, with a clear conscience, grant his son a powerful boon.
Even if he was dead, he would still completely pull his soul back.
A powerful drawing force erupted from the old God-King, crossing the distant interstellar space, arriving at Earth, and at Mjolnir in Tony's hand.
Mighty divine power erupted, attempting to force back Tony, but Tony remained expressionless. His body, like a mountain, didn't move in the slightest as he indifferently watched the suddenly restless Mjolnir.
Seeing that it couldn't give Tony any intimidating display, the divine power trembled slightly again, then broke free from Tony's hand with a bit of effort, directly taking Mjolnir and flying away.
With a whoosh, its speed was astonishing. It disappeared into the horizon, flying towards New Mexico, causing widespread weather changes along the way.
"Old geezer, he still couldn't resist making me suffer a slight loss. Is this considered a warning...?" Tony chuckled softly.
Dormammu, however, had no scruples. He cackled loudly, "Haha, if it were me, I'd claim Mjolnir for myself!"
"I permit you to snatch Mjolnir. Go ahead." Tony sneered. "I swear, if Odin kills you, I will definitely help you get revenge. Go on, quickly."
Dormammu recoiled and fell silent.
Tony looked at the suddenly changing weather. It looked like it was very likely to have a light rain, yet clearly, it had been bright and sunny just dozens of seconds ago.
He said faintly, "It's about time. We'll seize the Destroyer first, and then completely shove that Mephisto guy's ambition up his ass."
"No matter what deal Mephisto and Loki struck, don't even think about taking what I want."
