Chapter 346: Superman and Mjolnir are True Love. Thor? Raised by a Stepmother...
Loki broke out in a cold sweat. Faced with the apocalyptic killing intent, every inch of his skin trembled, like a child encountering a roaring giant beast.
In just a few short seconds, Loki looked as if he had been submerged in water, soaked through with sweat, his face ashen and devoid of color.
His body shuddered, and every cell began to wither. It gave Loki the illusion that the man before him didn't even need to act; just by staring, he would gradually die a frustrating and pathetic death.
If the other party truly wanted to kill him, not even Odin and Heimdall could save him in time.
He swallowed with difficulty, as if a stone was lodged in his throat, forcing him to gulp down through excruciating pain.
"Tony, if you really wanted to avenge these people, you should have stepped forward to stop me from the very beginning. For you, closing the Tesseract is simple," Loki said with great effort. "You did this on purpose. You deliberately let me bring the Chitauri in."
Tony retracted some of his killing intent. His eyes, like a ten-thousand-year-old iceberg, were icy cold and indifferent as he watched Loki. He slowly reached out and, right in front of Loki, gently took the scepter from his hand.
"None of this belongs to you, Loki. I'm actually a very reasonable person. You just had to do what you were supposed to do. If you had stayed obediently in your prison, I wouldn't have done anything to you."
Tony lifted Loki up as if he were a doll, then focused his attention on the scepter in his hand—or more accurately, the Mind Stone at its tip.
Loki, having barely recovered, wore a sullen expression and angrily clutched at the collar of his clothes. "Thanos sent me. That guy has his eyes on Earth."
"Thanos isn't the only one with his eyes on Earth. He's just a minor player, a Demigod who's only a little stronger than me," Tony said without looking up, completely absorbed in studying the scepter.
Thanos was Level Six, able to perfectly control all of his energy, down to every single cell and energy particle. His understanding of the meaning of his own existence, the destination of his soul and consciousness, far exceeded the standard for his level.
In his Base Form, Thanos was indeed stronger than the current Tony, but in the end, he was still just a "minor player."
Tony already possessed three Infinity Stones, making him not much weaker than Thanos. Furthermore, he had no intention of handing these stones over; he would hold them firmly in his own hands.
Tony suddenly looked up at the grim-faced Loki. He reached out and jabbed a finger hard into the man's shoulder, his voice cold. "Control your ambition, Loki. I know what you're plotting, I know what you want to do, I know everything about you. No matter what you do, these eyes of mine are watching you."
Loki's spirit wavered for a moment. He gritted his teeth, his face dark, and remained silent.
Tony snorted and looked up at the sky. Through the portal, a steady stream of Chitauri continued to pour out, along with an increasing number of Leviathans that roamed the skies above New York City.
Sometimes, he really wanted to just kill all of Earth's stupid higher-ups and install a batch of his own puppets. It would save a lot of useless bickering.
But if he did that, a whole crowd of Righteous Heroes would surely jump out to lecture him, then endlessly study and attack him.
There would always be a group of superheroes who would do that.
After this was over, he would hand off some of Kamar-Taj's affairs to Stephen, then step down and do what he wanted to do.
Like searching for the missing Ancient One, building his own planet, and conquering the stars.
The battle in New York City was growing more and more intense. Apart from the Transformers who were having a blast, the superheroes were barely holding on. The conventional military was utterly routed; no matter how many soldiers they sent, they were slaughtered.
That bunch from the World Security Council was already getting anxious enough to launch a Nuclear Bomb; the situation was constantly fraying their sensitive nerves.
Not far away, Thor was circling, his gaze constantly drifting over. It was clear he was worried about what Tony might do to his brother. Seeing that Tony had no intention of making a move, however, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Whether out of a guilty conscience or something else, he began to fight even harder.
Thor truly was an incredibly powerful warrior. With Mjolnir in his hands, he could freely summon and control Divine Lightning, felling vast swaths of enemies.
Thor let out a low roar, swung Mjolnir, and then hurled it with all his might. The weight of a dead star's core shot forward, smashing through a large number of Chitauri, a feat witnessed by a local hero.
This local hero, named Clark, was busy sending Chitauri flying one by one with his fists. The heavy, burly bodies of the Chitauri seemed as light as children's before this young man.
He had a secret. He wasn't actually an Earthling but came from another planet. However, he looked exactly like a human, and so far, no one besides his adoptive parents had discovered the truth.
After sending his adoptive mother, Martha, to safety, he had immediately returned at super speed to rescue helpless civilians. He fought punch by punch, and though it wasn't very efficient, it was hardly surprising considering his limited understanding of his own abilities.
That was, until Mjolnir flew to a spot not far in front of him and, under Thor's control, was about to fly back.
Then, without a second thought, Clark naturally reached out and grabbed Mjolnir, giving it a casual tug.
Something that left Thor dumbfounded happened.
In an instant, Mjolnir erupted with Divine Lightning far more terrifying than it ever had in Thor's hands, instantly covering a radius of several hundred meters, a range that was still expanding wildly.
The vast Divine Power, suddenly turbulent and agitated, howled and roared as it burst forth. Yet, in the Kryptonian's hands, it was as obedient as a child, awaiting his command.
The blinding electrical light shot into the sky, blasting apart more than a dozen Leviathans. The residual Divine Lightning swept through the area, instantly clearing out thousands of Chitauri and leaving a large vacuum in their wake.
"Such powerful lightning..." This immediately attracted Electro, Max. Countless electrical currents converged into a humanoid form as Max stared at Clark in astonishment.
"Just as I thought. Superman and Mjolnir are true love..." Tony stroked his chin, lost in thought, but he wasn't surprised by this development.
In terms of character, Superman was absolutely among the purest souls in the entire Universe. In the Marvel and DC Comics crossover series, there was always a story to be told between Superman and Mjolnir.
No matter how you looked at it, Superman and Mjolnir seemed, perhaps, to be a better match than Thor and Mjolnir...
What a damn tragedy.
Thor's mood was absolutely foul. It was as if the son he had painstakingly raised for over a thousand years had suddenly turned out to belong to the old man next door, and with just one call, the son ran off with him...
That was more or less how he felt.
"Could that young man also be a son of Odin?" For some reason, this thought suddenly popped into Thor's chaotic mind.
Far away in Asgard, the slumbering Odin's eye twitched faintly, though he did not wake. He was observing Earth in his own way, and the appearance of a Mutant like Clark left him momentarily speechless.
