Chapter 506: My Carol—
Author: Great Demon Spirit
Abin Sur's body had been buried on Mars, under the strict surveillance of the soldiers stationed there.
Su had died from severe injuries sustained in an attack by Parallax. Remnants of Parallax's yellow Fear Energy remained within his body.
It could also be considered a minuscule clone of Parallax; after all, Parallax was the embodiment of all fear and could sense the fear in all living things.
The moment Su's body suddenly stirred, alarms blared across the Mars base.
"Su's body moved! The Yellow Fear has broken free! Parallax has found its target."
"According to protocol, this situation is enough to trigger the A-level Sequence."
"What do we do? Do we go to Earth and join the fight?"
"No. We only have a hundred Autobot warriors, just enough to defend the base. We're far from ready to join a war on Earth. Besides, there are also a hundred Decepticon warriors on Earth, so they don't need us for now. Contact the Cybertron homeworld directly and let the higher-ups formulate the next plan."
"It's the only way. Let's hope nothing goes wrong."
The Transformers exchanged a few brief words and immediately contacted Cybertron to report the situation. On Cybertron, the chief and deputy intelligence officers, Soundwave and Blaster, would be responsible for handling it.
An A-level Sequence was significant enough to affect the progression of major events, especially when it involved the movements of Parallax, the Yellow Lantern Entity.
Parallax had long been on Cybertron's watch list. Sooner or later, Tony would have to personally capture Parallax and imprison it on Cybertron to prepare for the terrifying arrival of the Blackest Night.
To fight against the endless Black Lanterns resurrected from billions of years of death during the Blackest Night, and to face the even more terrifying Black Lantern Entity, Nekron, Cybertron needed its own Lantern Entities.
Just think about it: the self-replicating Black Lantern Rings, mass-resurrecting the dead, even capable of forcibly turning the living into the dead and then converting them into zombie-like forms...
How terrifying would their numbers be? From the birth of the Universe until now, how many people have died? How many powerhouses? You could form whole teams with just the Level Seven powerhouses! If this bunch were all resurrected at once, becoming Nekron's puppets—indestructible and with off-the-charts combat power...
Cybertron had to have its own Lantern Entities, or it would be at a huge disadvantage. No matter how strong Cybertron was, it would be overwhelmed by an endless army of the undead.
The most ideal and suitable target for capture was undoubtedly Parallax, which loved to wander aimlessly through the Universe, waiting for a chance to ambush and retaliate against the Guardians. Why wait to catch a wild Lantern Entity like that?
As for Sinestro's Yellow Lantern Corps... Tony's reaction was, "To hell with them."
Even if Sinestro formed the Yellow Lantern Corps, Parallax must be imprisoned on the planet Cybertron. It would absolutely not be allowed to escape.
At worst, he and Sinestro could go their separate ways, each forming their own Yellow Lantern Corps...
...
In fact, when the Moon-sized Warworld approached Earth, the Transformers on Mars and Earth had already detected it. A momentary shift in gravity had put them on high alert.
But they hadn't expected Warworld to strike so quickly. From its appearance near Earth, to opening fire, to the annihilation of Coast City, only a few minutes had passed.
Even Kamar-Taj didn't have time to react, let alone them. Their duty was to maintain the operations of important bases on Mars and Earth and transmit intelligence, not to fight.
The Fear Energy emanating from Abin Sur's body sped towards Earth, because there, Parallax had found a very interesting host.
Parallax + Host = the Parallax Demon. This meant Parallax now had a real body to control, transforming from a being of emotional energy into a creature of flesh and blood.
Its combat power would be even greater.
Rarely had it sensed a source of fear from Earth that was so surprising and captivating, so it eagerly directed this latent Fear Energy towards the planet.
Earth. Coast City was now a flattened wasteland.
A metropolis of eight million people, leveled in an instant. Ninety percent of it was destroyed, with only the outskirts remaining.
Seven million people dead.
This unimaginably massive disaster shocked the entire world, causing countless people to tremble in fear as they gazed at the metal planet that had appeared in outer space above Earth.
The disaster had struck so suddenly.
A silver figure leaped from Warworld, immediately caught by Earth's gravity. Like a meteorite, it plummeted toward the ground, wreathed in flames.
With a deafening boom, a massive crater formed in the leveled terrain of Coast City. Cyborg Superman leaped out of it, landing with a thud. His mechanical body was completely unscathed as he gazed around with a tyrannical air.
The small, remaining part of his head—the flesh around the eyeball on the right side of his face—was all that was left of his organic tissue, connected to a tiny, ravaged piece of his brain.
His right eye was bloodshot, filled with madness and a hint of glee at his impending revenge. His left eye, a red electronic sensor, pulsed at a high frequency, glowing with an unnatural crimson light.
He was an avenger, and he had come to Earth for revenge.
Cyborg Superman didn't care what message Jor-El had sent to H'el, nor did he care about H'el's motives for goading him into coming to Earth. As long as he could get his revenge, that was all that mattered.
Conveniently, he had finally waited for the day this planet beneath his feet was without its guardian.
Cyborg Superman's chassis could no longer feel even the slightest bit of warmth. But now, he was just a robot. His body was gone, but in its place, he had gained enough power to exact his revenge.
The radiation of a Yellow Sun was useless to him now. He didn't even know if he could still be considered human. As long as he could get his revenge, it was enough.
"Where is Kal!!! Get out here!"
Cyborg Superman roared, his voice filled with hysteria, madness, and hatred. He stood amidst the ruins of Coast City, surrounded by seven million lost souls.
His towering silver mechanical body glinted with cold resolve.
Earth finally responded. A portal opened, and Stephen, Nicodemus, Wong, and the others appeared, their eyes wide with fury and grief as they stared at the horrific scene in Coast City.
"You butcher! How many people have you killed!!"
Stephen's eyes widened, bloodshot with anguish. He watched in agony as the bustling metropolis was reduced to flat ground beneath his feet, the millions of inhabitants having vanished without even leaving bodies behind.
Stephen could almost see countless warm moments and whispers fading away forever.
This was his failure. Stephen felt he had failed in his duty.
He was a Guardian of Earth, yet he hadn't been able to stop this in time. It was an immense tragedy.
A flash of fire and light appeared as the nearby Iron Man was the first to fly to the scene. The other members of the Avengers were also on their way.
Tony stared in shock at the scene. It was too brutal.
A major city, gone in an instant. Millions dead in a flash.
Tony saw a survivor covered in blood, wailing in agony as he staggered out of the ruins. Covered in wounds, he stared in despair, his whole body trembling as he let out a beast-like roar: "My Carol—"
