Chapter 523: Ganged Up On
Under the command of Commander Hant, three thousand Kryptonian soldiers in full black armor floated indifferently in space, silently watching five trembling enemies.
Just moments ago, these Kryptonians had withstood the hundred-million-ton falling monoliths, forcibly pushing them out of New Krypton's gravitational pull. They were unbelievably ferocious.
But on second thought, this seemed to be a standard feat for Kryptonian warriors.
After all, they basked in the sun every day, growing stronger every day.
Across from them, Corvus Glaive's expression was terrifyingly dark, subtly contorting.
He knew Kryptonians all too well. He had been ordered to hunt down General Zod and the other survivors of Krypton and had dealt with them extensively. General Zod's talent and decisiveness had left a deep impression on him.
The arrogant and bloodthirsty Corvus Glaive had always lamented his failure to personally chop off Zod's head.
But these three thousand soldiers before him... How did Tony have Kryptonian soldiers!!!
Corvus Glaive stiffly turned his head, his eyelids twitching wildly as he looked toward the Sun. That yellow light seemed to be an omen.
"The Sun and Kryptonians... That son of a bitch Zod. I should have done whatever it took to kill him back then."
Corvus Glaive cursed aloud, his entire body frozen in place.
He was, of course, aware of the connection between a Yellow Sun and Kryptonians. However, such Kryptonians had become the stuff of legend. Even up to the time of Krypton's destruction, no such beings who could grow stronger just by basking in the sun had ever appeared.
Corvus Glaive figured these Kryptonian soldiers were undoubtedly some kind of cloned bioweapons.
The sensory ability of a demigod made the faces of all the Black Order members, including Corvus Glaive, turn incredibly grim.
"You've doomed us!!!" Ebony Maw couldn't help but roar, his voice shrill and terrifying. He shivered uncontrollably; being the frailest of the group, he now looked even more pathetic.
He was a strategist, a conniving advisor! Playing with schemes and conspiracies was his favorite pastime. Charging into battle was a job for an idiot like Corvus Glaive, of course. What kind of advisor rolls up his sleeves and jumps into the fray first?
He was terrified.
"Don't be afraid. I anticipated this," Corvus Glaive said, regaining his composure. He tried to sneer, but it twisted his face into an incredibly ugly expression.
He raised his giant glaive, a ferocious look washing over his face as a violent madness leaped into his eyes.
"Kryptonians aren't unkillable! No matter how strong they are, they can't possibly stop the five of us!" Corvus Glaive yelled manically.
"Go! Kill them!"
Carrying his glaive, Corvus Glaive hysterically charged toward the Kryptonian army.
If he couldn't even defeat this rabble, how could he possibly kill Tony?!
The other four figures stirred, but almost instantly, they turned to look at Ebony Maw.
"We can't wait. Retreat immediately! Proxima Midnight, if you don't want to die, come with me." Ebony Maw decisively betrayed Corvus Glaive and turned back toward the spaceship.
The other two hesitated for a moment before following Ebony Maw in retreat. Proxima Midnight, however, chose to charge forward to help Corvus Glaive.
Corvus Glaive, having charged ten thousand meters ahead, was so furious he nearly coughed up blood. His killing intent flared, but before him, Hant had already waved his hand with a cold smile.
One hundred of them moved to intercept Proxima Midnight.
The remaining two thousand nine hundred figures shot out like rockets. Under the light of the Yellow Sun, they were fearless. Every single one was a Superman, effortlessly breaking the sound barrier.
They completely surrounded Corvus Glaive. Immediately after, nearly three thousand beams of heat vision erupted, carrying a destructive aura that seemed to scorch space itself as they all slammed into Corvus Glaive.
The beams of heat vision tore through space, frantically annihilating his body. Intense pain washed over him. Corvus Glaive roared and cursed, his eyes shot with blood. His mind, eroded by killing intent, was on the verge of collapse.
"Die!!!"
Corvus Glaive went berserk. Completely abandoning his sanity, he raised his glaive. The blade, radiating a bone-chilling cold and piercing killing intent, propelled him as he charged swiftly into the crowd and swung with all his might.
He withstood the heat vision, brazenly attacking without any regard for his own vital points.
With a flash of the blade, two Kryptonian soldiers were instantly sliced in half. The thick scent of blood filled the air, sending Corvus Glaive into a frenzy.
"You insignificant trash will all be slaughtered by me! I, Corvus Glaive, am immortal! No one in this world can kill me!!"
Corvus Glaive fought with wide, sweeping movements, adopting a style of trading blow for blow, betting his life against the Kryptonian soldiers.
Soon, his flesh was torn open, revealing a dense network of wounds that bled ceaselessly.
But Corvus Glaive didn't care!
He was sent flying once again, accompanied by the sound of shattering bones.
"I'll take him!" Hant growled, his expression composed. Clad in heavy black armor, his deep eyes were filled with a fury that rivaled Corvus Glaive's.
Indeed, Hant was not a completely calm and rational person. He, too, enjoyed brutal, close-quarters combat.
Hant and Corvus Glaive locked in a bloody battle, their roars unceasing. They traded punch for slash, both fearless of death, fighting with utter frenzy.
Many of Corvus Glaive's bones were shattered, and Hant's armor was in tatters.
Four figures crashed into the surrounding Kryptonian legion, attacking from the periphery and knocking several Kryptonian soldiers away.
"Ha, you actually came back? Quick, help me—" Corvus Glaive let out a joyous roar, but it died in his throat the next second.
The three figures, moving at high speed, immediately changed direction and shot off elsewhere. It was as if their attack was merely a passing distraction...
Proxima Midnight was still entangled with a hundred Kryptonian soldiers. The spear in her hand, a weapon personally forged by Thanos, was now only barely enough to keep her alive.
"Nebula has betrayed us and seized control of the spaceship. We have no other choice."
Ebony Maw spoke with eloquence, "Retreat, fight to the death, or surrender—these are our options. Personally, I favor a strategic retreat."
"A direct escape won't work; Tony definitely won't let us go. So, we might as well head to Cybertron on our own initiative."
"As for Corvus Glaive, let him continue to draw their fire. We're going straight to Cybertron!"
With that, Ebony Maw convinced the others to flee, decisively abandoning Corvus Glaive.
Disregarding Corvus Glaive's plight, the three flew with grim expressions toward Cybertron's main planet.
The power Tony commanded far surpassed their imagination. Completing Thanos's mission was impossible. So, to hell with the mission.
The massive planet of Cybertron came into view, growing ever larger before their eyes.
Several figures soared into the air, completely surrounding Ebony Maw and the others.
If the sight of Electro had made Ebony Maw and the others turn serious, then the appearance of Illyana made their expressions drain of color.
"Another powerhouse! How on earth did Tony do it? Where did he recruit so many demigods?!"
Ebony Maw roared. Suddenly, he saw another little girl fly up from below. Her eyes opened, and the sight of her four terrifying, blood-red eyeballs made them shudder in fear.
"A demon..."
Ebony Maw couldn't help but murmur as a profound sense of helplessness washed over him.
A certain thought in his mind grew even stronger.
