Chapter 531: The Disaster of Asgard
"Hurry, hurry, don't just stand there gawking! Sun Wukong, take out your great staff!"
"That foul beast is about to break in! Hold the line, or the Jade Emperor will go crazy when he gets back."
"Guan Yu, where's that two-hundred-meter-long greatsword of yours? Get it ready!"
"My blade is only twenty meters long..."
"That's not important, just get it ready!"
...
Within the Great Luo Heaven, countless Immortals from mythology bustled about, desperately holding Amatsu-Mikaboshi at bay.
"Pah! I knew there was something wrong with this Amatsu-Mikaboshi. The Japanese Pantheon in other universes doesn't even have a god like him! Amaterasu was a fool; she deserved to be wiped out."
Sun Wukong, carrying his Golden-Hooped Rod, sneered. The moment the entrance was breached, he smashed his staff down viciously, striking the arm.
"Bring out another three hundred Peaches of Immortality for our people. We're short-handed and need to create more Immortals to join the battle," the Queen Mother of the West commanded.
The Peaches of Immortality are a specialty of the Eastern Immortal Clan, meant for residents without divine power to consume so they can gain it.
The entire Great Luo Heaven was sealed tight. A vast number of divine artifacts were deployed, and combined with the various contingencies left behind by the Jade Emperor, it was exceedingly sturdy.
Majestic divine power surged forth, covering every corner of the Great Luo Heaven. At the entrance, this divine power was incredibly viscous, mixed with the energy of the Blood Realm, making it tougher than any defensive material in the world.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi tried many times but was never able to break through the defenses of the Great Luo Heaven. Each time, he fell just short and could only depart in resentment.
"Damn it, I actually can't break in."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi watched the constantly flashing crimson light, his expression shifting uncertainly. As an incarnation of Oblivion, he knew all too well what that was.
Blood Realm energy... to think this group of Immortals had secretly collected so much of it.
The Blood Realm is a vast region stretching between universes, a veritable graveyard for the weak. Yet the Heavenly Court had somehow managed to master a way to use its energy.
"The Heavenly Court must have a secret. And that Jade Emperor is so secretive, he doesn't even show his face. He must be preparing something."
With a sullen look, Amatsu-Mikaboshi glanced aside and slapped the silent Ares standing next to him. "You incompetent trash!"
Ares: "???"
Spitting out a mouthful of blood, Ares was sent flying.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi's expression improved slightly. He huffed and turned to leave. The situation had changed, so he decided to destroy Asgard first to increase his strength.
Ares got up, his face frighteningly savage, but he immediately replaced it with a harmless expression, burying his resentment deep in his heart.
...
At this moment in Asgard, the vast continent, resembling a flat world under a domed sky, floated in the cosmos. Rushing rivers flowed from the highlands to the lowlands, eventually reaching the continent's edge and pouring out into the universe.
The Asgardian Divine Race was known for being rugged and fierce, the most famous among the World Tree Pantheon.
Although God-King Odin's condition was perpetually terrible, no one dared to provoke Asgard. This divine race had established its status upon the corpses of one enemy after another.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi appeared here with indifference, looking down upon the magnificent, giant landmass. His gaze swept over the land, taking in every living creature as greed and malice radiated from him, blanketing Asgard.
A colossal dark shadow suddenly descended. After devouring the Olympus Pantheon, Amatsu-Mikaboshi's power had grown. His black, shadow-like body gave the illusion of infinite expansion.
It was as if Asgard was merely a toy before him that could be crushed with one hand.
"Who is it!!"
God-King Odin startled awake from his slumber, his expression changing drastically. A fierce light glinted in his one remaining eye. He drew the Eternal Spear, and the old Odin leaped into the sky, confronting Amatsu-Mikaboshi amidst the panic of his countless subjects.
"Heh, Odin, you've grown old."
Amatsu-Mikaboshi grinned, a savage smile spreading across his face. The teeth in his shadowy maw, which looked as if they could shatter planets, parted, and the pantheons he had devoured seemed to wail from within his mouth.
"You are Amatsu-Mikaboshi..."
Odin's expression was grim.
He sensed the auras of many old friends on Amatsu-Mikaboshi, which shocked and horrified him.
"Thor, protect our people," Odin roared in a low voice. The Odinforce within him, dormant for so long, roared to life once more. The terrifying divine power, like a sudden tsunami, instantly washed over the vastness of Asgard.
The rage of the old God-King was not something just anyone could withstand.
"Father, I can help you!" Thor roared, brandishing his hammer.
"I don't need it! You are a king, so you must do a king's duty!"
Odin let out a low roar, raised the Eternal Spear high, and charged the colossal, sky-blotting dark shadow. From a distance, it looked like an ant charging a giant dragon.
But Odin was no ant, and Amatsu-Mikaboshi was no mere giant dragon.
The two mighty Level Seven powerhouses clashed. The brutal impact caused a large-scale annihilation of space-time. Their scattered divine powers collided, and the clash of different systems of divine power was exceedingly cruel and terrifying. The moment their powers made contact, they transformed into two sharp blades, tearing at each other before being blasted away.
A blinding light erupted from the Eternal Spear. Odin gasped slightly for breath, then with a great shout, he thrust the spear toward Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
The massive veil of darkness tore open.
As specks of starlight reappeared in the eyes of the Asgardians, a rift was suddenly torn in the dark expanse.
Amatsu-Mikaboshi let out a low laugh. The rift closed, and he resumed his battle with Odin.
"Evacuate the people immediately! Get some of them out of here! No matter what happens, a group must escape safely!" Thor roared, his eyes bloodshot, ordering the gatekeeper Heimdall to open the Rainbow Bridge.
"It won't open. The Rainbow Bridge is sealed by an unknown power," Heimdall said grimly.
"Then leave by spaceship! Heimdall, you're in charge of guiding the people. I'm going to find Loki!"
Thor glanced up at the sky. The battle between peak God-Kings was nearly suffocating the God of Thunder. Every collision caused Asgard to tremble, as if the entire world of Asgard would collapse in the next second.
He gritted his teeth and strode quickly toward the prison, where his brother Loki was still being held.
...
Nidavellir, the Dwarf Kingdom, one of the realms of Yggdrasil under Asgard's protection.
This race of frighteningly tall "dwarves" was passionate about forging weapons. They were the race that had researched the material known as Uru most deeply. Thor's hammer was forged by the dwarves.
But today, they received a dangerous visitor.
The cosmic tyrant, Thanos, had personally come calling.
He needed a gauntlet to bear the Infinity Stones. Although he only had one in his possession, he had to prepare for seizing more of them from Tony.
"Yes, I will follow your command to kill Tony. I will do whatever you say, just... talk to me a little more..."
Thanos murmured to the empty air.
