Chapter 542: Search
The tiny Mjolnir, infused with a terrifying mass of divine power, swelled in size. Hairline cracks erupted across its surface as it roared through the air, smashing towards Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
Thor also roared, shouting the slogans and battle hymns of Asgard, charging forward without hesitation to collide with Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
The collision of two God-King level combatants directly caused spacetime to tremble violently. The entire universe felt this higher-level battle in terror, filled with dread.
The fierce battle grew more intense, but their figures gradually faded into the distance.
"Interesting. An ancient model of Celestial?"
Tony looked up at the churning clouds in the sky. They looked as if they had been haphazardly stirred with a giant stick. It was quite a sight.
Compared to the battle itself, what drew Tony's attention more was undoubtedly the astonished words that had come from Amatsu-Mikaboshi's mouth.
"It seems the living tissue I reverse-engineered contains a deeper secret."
Tony mused, staring at the sky for a long time, feeling the intensity of the struggle grow ever more ferocious.
That mass of flesh had been created by Tony after he obtained the Celestial's ashes. He had painstakingly deconstructed the dead genes containing divine power, then used reverse engineering to re-cultivate them.
In the process, he had used the only tool in his possession, the Allspark, to successfully dismantle a portion of the Celestial's genetic code, allowing him to get a small glimpse into the essence of a Celestial.
This kind of engineering wasn't hard to understand. Haven't Earthlings always been obsessed with dinosaurs, longing to use genetic engineering to bring them back?
It was the same principle. The difference was that Tony had the advantage of the Allspark, an artifact of creation. Peering into the essence of life was the Allspark's primary function, which gave him a massive edge.
The old mage narrowed his eyes and watched for a moment before slowly dispelling the powerful magic he had been brewing for a long time. His white robe billowed in the fierce wind.
"It seems you've succeeded. Truly surprising," the old mage said slowly.
"Successful in part, at least," Tony said. "It's just a crude replication and application of the Celestial's life code. I can't yet directly glimpse the full picture behind the code."
"At least you succeeded in part."
"Yes, and I think this is as far as I can go. The part of the code I've grasped is more than enough with a bit more research and modification. If I try what I did last time, I might really provoke Eternity, and then we'd be in big trouble," Tony said.
Last time, Tony had used inferior cells to invade the Celestial's ashes. These disposable Doomsday cells had an extremely short lifespan. To survive, these cells, which possessed Doomsday's assimilation and adaptation abilities, would naturally devour everything they touched just to gain a few more seconds of life.
Otherwise, the inferior cells would fall into the predicament of devouring themselves for energy, effectively killing themselves.
This brutish, evolutionary invasion had violently breached a part of the Celestial's life code and barrier, exposing some of its deeper secrets. Tony silently memorized them and then tossed the thing onto Apokolips.
Hmm, he wondered how that thing was doing on Apokolips. It was probably long dead. After all, they were inferior cells, a disposable product, lacking both Doomsday's self-contained circulatory system and its trait of constant resurrection.
Tony wasn't wrong. The enraged Eternity had smashed that thing to smithereens with a single slap.
The old mage asked, "What do you plan to do next? I've made some progress in my research of the magic system. I've managed to outline a vague framework for this 'magic chain' concept, but it will still take some time to construct."
"The divine power system is now being handled by Shockwave and Shuri. With Thor as an example, they won't disappoint me. They should come up with something soon."
After a pause, Tony instructed, "Contact Loki. Find a way to draw some blood from the Asgardians. Of course, get some of the Frost Giant blood from Loki too. It's better than nothing, and maybe Shockwave and the others can use it."
"And if Loki doesn't agree?" the old mage asked.
"He will agree. Loki is very smart. Just consider it payment for staying in the Cybertron system. It's just a bit of blood; that's not asking too much."
Whether Loki was willing or not, he had to agree. Even if it meant leaking the genes of the Asgardian gods, he would have to bite the bullet and consent. Without Tony, the last embers of Asgard would be extinguished in an instant.
Tony looked at the old mage seriously and said, "I need to leave for a while. During my absence, the safety of Cybertron is in your hands. I estimate that aside from Amatsu-Mikaboshi, there will be no other powerful enemies during this time. If Thor is defeated and Amatsu-Mikaboshi attacks, I will have to rely on you to stop him. I will leave a powerful weapon for you."
The old mage's expression flickered. "The Grand Universe Proving Ground?"
"That's right. I will pilot the Mobius Chair to travel between universes and select a suitable one to conduct large-scale human experimentation," Tony said.
A comprehensive study of the Doomsday gene template was urgently needed. This wasn't just due to external threats, but also stemmed from Tony's own pressing needs.
He was currently at the quasi-cosmic level, just one step away from the threshold. As time went on, this threshold would weaken, because the loftiness of the One-Above-All was constantly restraining him, repelling the replicating power of the multiverse.
The longer it took, the stronger the accumulated power would become, and the more terrifying the gathered information aggregate would grow.
At Tony's level, an information explosion was itself a form of high-end energy. This kind of weapon could even interfere with the birth and destruction of a universe. The massive amount of information released in an instant was enough to overwhelm any being below level seven.
From their cells to their genes, they would be burst apart by the information being madly force-fed into them.
Tony needed to prepare for his impending ascension.
A look of unease appeared on the old mage's face. He turned his head away and said nothing.
The rise of the Agalas Sanctuary had not been smooth sailing either; it had seen its share of blood. The old mage knew better than anyone that the rise of any faction was inevitably accompanied by bloodshed.
But with his noble sentiments and virtue, he still felt uneasy and could only remain silent.
Tony glanced at the old mage and nodded. "I will leave the Soul Stone with you. At the same time, I'm entrusting the Infinity Gauntlet to your care."
Tony took out the orange stone and fragments of several other colored stones, as well as the golden gauntlet he had snatched from Thanos.
If an enemy appeared that even the old mage couldn't match, using the Infinity Stones would be the best option.
Although it seemed only the Soul Stone was still useful; the other five stones were completely shattered.
Tony left, said a brief farewell to Wanda and the others, then turned and walked into a secret chamber.
A huge chair, glowing with a brilliant light, sat quietly in the corner.
The Mobius Chair, an artifact created by Mobius, the Anti-Monitor. It was later obtained by Metron and eventually fell into Tony's hands.
"The Grand Universe Proving Ground..."
Tony murmured to himself, then picked up a briefcase. Opening it, he saw rows of crimson test tubes, all filled with various types of Doomsday cells.
Tony sat down and patted the chair. "Search for a universe entering its twilight years."
